need to detect the version of Flash Player ActiveX installed in windows 8

My company (for better or worse) using Add/Remove programs to determine the version of flash players (activex and plugin) installed on a machine. With Microsoft support the ActiveX for Win8.x package, we have lost the "Add/Remove Programs" (aka "programs and features") entry for flash player for IE. (Now, our chefs are inaccurate because I know every customer of Win8 activex of flash player, but one) it is not counted, and b) we do not know which version is on a computer.

We can get the current number of KB Microsoft Update for the flash player activex, but that changes on a monthly basis, requiring engineering on our side and we have the bandwidth.

Anyone have any ideas?

THX,

Adam

Hi Adam,.

You can use the registry entry to find the installed version.

ActiveX: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayerActiveX > Version

Plugin: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayerPlugin > Version

It is much better than the entry in Add/Remove programs.

Until recently, I could visit http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ telling me.

I'm in Firefox 4.0 on Windows 7, where it is important.

HI beyond that was published only, you can use it. It must also offer the animation of the Flash Player logo, which is an indication of where Flash Player works correctly. It also displays the version FP.

  • The latest version of flash player is installed, and yet none of the programs that use it can find or access. I am running Windows 7. Is there something in the registry that could block flash drive to be accessed or used?

The subject is the question. Files with the flv extensions cannot run or be identified. Other software that uses flash player such as Rhapsody, can not find or use it either. It feels like a registry problem. Please, do not waste time suggesting I uninstall and reinstall flash player as I did several times without improvement or solution.

Yes, this isn't how Flash Player works.  It is not a video player.  You can * write * a video player for Flash using ActionScript that would play FLVs, but this isn't what you're trying to do.

If you just want to watch a FLV that you downloaded, I'm pretty sure that VLC will get fact.

  • Why can't I access the download link for the version of Flash Player newer?

So, I want to update my Adobe Flash Player...

If I go to Adobe.com and go to download > Adobe Flash Player I sent to http://get.Adobe.com/flashplayer/?promoid=JZEFT

So, if I click on 'Install now' (also my anti-virus accepts software installations) I'm just headed to Adobe.com

It's an infinite loop and no matter where I look for a replacement downloads I get sent to the same place with the button 'Install now', yet once go to Adobe.com

I am currently running (most recent) Mac OSX 10.8.5, 25.0.1 (most recent) Firefox and Adobe Flash Player 11.9.900.117.

How to do a 'clean' Flash Player installation in Mac OS X

Yes, I does not address the issue.

This page has instructions to download the Installer 'offline,' that bypasses the normal installer/downloader. It won't redirect to anywhere because there is NO connection in it software.

  • I can't uninstall the debug version of flash player...?

I have this version: 18.0.0.232 (debug version). I saw the posts explaining how to uninstall the present, but it never works (downloaded an uninstall offline program, closed all the browser windows, then restarted - no result) .dows

In collaboration with IE on Windows 8.1, if that helps.

    Hi Excadream,

The debug version of Flash Player is installed as an update of Windows on Windows 8.x.  You will need to go to control panel > programs > programs and features > installed updates and find the Flash Player of the debugger for Internet Explorer update and uninstall this update.

  • Trouble installing the update of Flash player 14.0.0.177 for Chrome

I tried to help my mother to update his flash drive. It was flash version 14.0.0.145 running and having problems with it. When I saw there was a newer version, 14.0.0.177, so I downloaded it, I was checking things for her. Chrome, to activate it on the plugins page, but the only version to appear was the old man. As far as I know, this is how it is installed. She has a computer with the windows operating system windows 7. Is there something I'm missing here, or something I must try that might help to get the latest version of flash running? Thank you!

    Hello

The version of Flash Player integrated in Chrome is updated by Google, not Adobe.  For this version of Flash Player, it seems that Google has released Flash Player via an update to Chrome (as opposed to a components updated, they do sometimes), in accordance with this page Chrome releases: Stable channel update, which indicates that 36.0.1985.143 is the version that contains the update of Flash Player. You can navigate to chrome://chrome to trigger the update (or tools > about Google Chrome, that goes to the same page).

  • Latest version of flash player does not not on Maverick

Hi, I uninstall and install the countless times, empty my cache.  I have the required files appear under Internet plugins but I still have an empty box to the site to find the Version of Flash Player from Adobe.  Older versions do not work either. Help! What is going on?

First of all I recommend a "clean install" (How to perform a "clean installation" of Flash Player in Mac OS X) and resetting Safari (Safari > Reset Safari).

Aside from that, it can be something that was wrong with the Mavericks install. (I've seen a lot of this in the Apple Forums)

    Hi GFAngel-9,

Thanks for posting the screenshot.  It was very useful.

For non-French speaking people who may come across this message, the error is "Flash Player ActiveX Control fails to register".

The error record is generally returned when there are problems with permissions in the registry or the file system where the Flash Player is installed in.  Please read the FAQ How can I fix Windows with Flash Player permission problems? or the tech note Flash Player | Windows registry permissions.  The FAQ contains a video about the difficulty of running during the tech note contains more detailed information about the permissions problem.
