need to remove the file from my sound card but I don't know where to find

A few weeks ago, I lost the sound on my laptop.  I've checked everything.  My last option is to re install my sound card, but I don't even know that I have the sound card.  Can someone help me please, please.

To identify your sound card, go to... Device Manager.

You can launch the Device Manager by going
TO... Start/run and type or copy / paste
devmgmt.msc
And then press ENTER.

Expand... Sound, video and game controllers.

My sound card is "Realtek High Definition Audio"
yours may be the same.

Go to the support site for the manufacturer of your sound card
and look for a compatible driver Win XP.

Carefully follow the installation instructions which can
be on the support site.
