Nested models

Hello, I would like to be able to use templates that are nested in a site, I produce, but is it possible with the way BC treats models?

The way I see it, the parent model would need to have the snippet of the BC model in it like the nested model, then it would cause an error when downloading to the servers of BC. Any help would be welcome

Thank you

Martin

Hi Martin,

For more details on the holders of content, see article below.

The screencast present holders of content in the older UI.  To locate the licensed content in the current user interface, go to your site administrator via the site-> owners of content manager.

I hope this helps!

  • Nested models are not supported, what is the alternative

    I'm developing an application which is the first of many in a portal environment. I am now trying to come up with a reusable template for all applications, but within the applications, I also want a model in which we show the menus and tabs and others. So basically I need a main model and several application templates. I read that the nested models are not supported, so, what's the alternative?

    Hello

    I use 11.1.1.5.0, it works for me

    I guess that there is no work around to make it work in 11.1.1.3?

    See, PageTemplates expects what pageTemplates page and the consumer should have unique ID, please ensure that you have unique IDS.
    You can have a 'special' prefix ID components in the pageTemplates pages and the consumer

  • Trying in vain the nested model CS4

    I created a page with a header and footer with 1 available pass header and footer fixed and most later recorded as a model after I had designed page like I wanted. I had put a Spry menu bar in the header area and the editable main content div after implementation of the model. Creating child pages from this model is is very well conducted. Then, I decided to add a secondary navigation bar on the side for a second series of pages on the site after reading DW CS4 Missing Manual (p. 755 McFarland). He gave this example as a good time to use nested templates. I created a new template (nested model) on the original model, then add a div tag in the div of the main content (the editable area only) placed a new bar from Spry menus in the div tag I added the div as compound selector, named .oneColFixCtrHdr #sidebar.

    Everything went smoothly, except one (planned, I guess) coupling. Being in an editable area, the side menu is editable as well, and wanted further changes to the sidebar of the nested model to reflect down to child pages. So, I followed McFarland and insert an editable region empty in the sidebar div to overcome this obstacle. That did not work as he claimed he would. Although changes in the sidebar now appear on the pages of the child, the main content div was more editbable in the pages of the child. I tried a creative work around trying to temporarily insert an editable region empty in the div sidebar to change the sidebar that would lead down to the pages of the child; then after making these changes, remove the editable empty that I inserted, so that the main content div would resume its editibility in the pages of the child. It worked, except a serious hitch - when changes have been made to the menu in the sidebar model nested (with the inserted editable empty), content for the main content div of the nested model is transferred to the child pages as well - lose any content already existed in the pages of the child. That won't work!

    I wonder if originally the sidebar should be put in place in the main model as a separate region of the div. of main content but, I didn't have a sidebar in the original model, which seems to complicate things.

    I also wonder if what I'm doing could not achieved by the implementation of the sidebar as an optional region in the main model instead of trying to achieve with a nested model (have not already tried optional regions, so I don't know). I'm not too deeply in the design, so I'm ready to go direction to get the best possible results, even if I have to go back a bit. I spent many hours trying to understand this point, and it baffled me. It's all part of the learning process, I guess...

    Oh, you're right. You put some of the menus in optional regions. Well, why not put javascript code at the bottom of the page also in optional areas? Then you can turn off the power when you don't need them both on when you need it.

    In this way, the javascript code to show nor cause warnings warning because it won't be there!

    About how the var at the bottom of the page code work with menu bars, don't forget that there are also linked javascript file which is the real engine behind the functioning of the menu bar. And you may also notice, especially on the pages where you have two menu bars, each variable set at the bottom of the page is unique. If I have read and understood a little better Javascript, I could be more specific, but suffice it to say that these assignments to variables at the bottom of the page file as much as say in javascript, "see this MenuBar1 up there? Do the work for me... And see MenuBar2 up there? This work, also. »

    For the brothers of the Atonement, my link is the Director of Internet Communications at Graymoor. He praised the work of an artist in New York. Then he hired me to do the job of the Spry menu bar (in all kinds of weather... so to speak). We got along well, and he decided that he would rather call all the coding to me. But we have worked very closely together... He knew what he wanted in the end, and I knew how to get there. When one of us has tried something new, we have conferred and came with the best result.

    Now, I'm writing a description of how the functions of the site (for its use and this possibility "in the case of one of getting us hit by a bus"... hopefully it never comes to that!) The interesting part of the employment relationship, is that I never met the gentleman face to face until after the site was launched, and we worked on it for 9 months.

    Ah, modern life!

  • Nested model question

    Hello, I would like to do a nested model of a master model; However, I don't know how to get the desired result.

    The master has a sidebar menu item which is not editable which will apply to multiple pages. I would like to make the model nested without the side menu, but don't know who to make an editable in the nested version.

    I might just do an another master without the side menu, but this would make the update of changes to the site level more complicated.

    Any suggestions? Thank you.

    I'll be able to edit the menu as a library item and any changes will take place in each of the pages that this element is located in? Thank you

    The convenience to do this entirely depend on how you built your menu.  I almost always use ProjectSeven PopMenuMagic on my sites, and the edition menu couldn't be simpler.  Once you create the menu, you would never need to touch anything other than the HTML part of things - the CSS and javascript are always the same (and in addition, they are related to the parent, not the library in any case item folder).

    I suggest that practice you this dance with a few test pages first.  Enter a CSS/Javascript menu in a library of point/include file requires some skills and knowledge of HTML.

  • Sorting a nested model

    I have a model with several editable regions and many pages based on this template. Looks like this.
    http://www.range-reports.com/index1.html

    Most of the regions are editable except the main links at the top of the page & side logo etc.

    I'd like to another sub or nested model based on this to create multiple pages, but have a blank space to write data of type letter in the main logo. The main links on the left would also remain. The main area would be just an editable region for the items.

    How can I do without destroying everything?
    Thank you
    Dave

    Not much. Enough said. Thanks for the tips anyway to you two.
    I'll understand it.

  • Nested editable region error - but I have no nested model

    Hello:

    Decipher an error message: I need help.

    I have a global model for my site. It was working fine, then it has been disconnected from the site when my computer crashed, so I plugged back it it using site manager and import the .ste file. Now when I try to save the template or use the model, I get an error message which makes it seem like I have a nested template, but I'm not using nested templates.

    Here is what the error message says:

    There is an error on line 117, column 7, position absolute 2195

    Nested editable region

    Here's what the beginner code @ 111 line looks like:

    The < body > tag is at line 111. I checked for the end tag, and it seems fine. I also ran the command to check html and it found no errors.

    Any ideas what I did to generate this error message frustrating or how I can fix this problem.

    I'm not super tech savvy. I know enough to be dangerous.

    Thanks for any help you might be able to offer.

    Invalid HTML table height is - there never is part of the HTML language.  The content determines the height.  His presence on the page, however, is of no consequence to almost everything and this particular question.  You should be working fine with this page now...

  • Nesting templates: child-model Pages does not fully to the Editable vs a-Editable regions

    Me kay, so first of all, it's all done within Dreamweaver CS5. How can I explain this, is that I have a series of Master-models for my site, then accompanied by child-models related to offshore of / nested my master-models. So far it's going wonderfully, until what I'm trying to make a page of one of my children-models.

    The page of my child-model accurately comment on an non editable (region in which is editable in the master model, but left as ONLY editable within the child-model) as long as I add an EDITABLE area it contains. In the circumstances I have DO NOT add an editable region in the editable area of the master model, the area within the Page is appearing always editable.

    For example:

    __________________

    Model Master:

    <!-TemplateBeginEditable name = "ChildTemplateCSSLinks"->

    Model child CSS links here.

    <! - TemplateEndEditable - >

    _____

    Child model:

    <!-InstanceBeginEditable name = "ChildTemplateCSSLinks"->

    Model child CSS links here.

    <!-TemplateBeginEditable name = "ChildPageCSSLinks"->

    Child CSS PAGE links here.

    <! - TemplateEndEditable - >

    <! - InstanceEndEditable - >

    _____

    The child page:

    Model child CSS links here. (Precisely appearing not editable - {editable area of the master model tags appearing exactly invisible})

    <!-InstanceBeginEditable name = "ChildPageCSSLinks"->

    Child CSS PAGE links here. (Accurately appearing editable)

    <! - InstanceEndEditable - >

    __________________

    It is a WORKING example of editable regions. In the child Page "Template CSS child links here." Appearing in comment and therefore not editable in the child Page, as if it was supposed to be. This time allows the 'child PAGE CSS links here' to be editable with PRECISION within the child-Page.

    Now for an example of what does not work:

    __________________

    Model Master:

    <!-TemplateBeginEditable name = "ChildTemplateCSSLinks"->

    Model child CSS links here.

    <! - TemplateEndEditable - >

    _____

    Child model:

    <!-InstanceBeginEditable name = "ChildTemplateCSSLinks"->

    Model child CSS links here.

    (As you can see, I've added an extra editable within the editable area of the master model. This is an area which is supposed not to be editable within the child-model and NOT the child-Page, which seems to be up to NOW accurate.)

    <! - InstanceEndEditable - >

    _____

    The child page:

    <!-InstanceBeginEditable name = "ChildTemplateCSSLinks"->

    Model child CSS links here.

    (For a reason, THAT as long as I DO NOT add an additional child-model - edit box in the editable area of the master model, this area is appearing ALWAYS visible but also editable in the child Page.)

    <! - InstanceEndEditable - >

    __________________

    So, in this circumstance, it seems that the only way I can leave ALONE the editable region of the master model can be changed within the child-model and NOT editable in the child Page is leaving an ADDITIONAL editable produced through the child-model somewhere within the editable region EVERY SINGLE, produced by the master model. Unless I do something bad, it seems this until a potential defect/bug in Dreamweaver CS5. I can't imagine how this would be correct, otherwise child/Nested-Templates would be not possible to do. What could I do it wrong? Is it possible that I can specify in the master model is an editable editable ONLY within the child-model and NOT yet child-Pages (A Page based on the template of the child)? Or maybe is it possible that I can specify the child-model that an area can be changed WILL NOT be editable in the child Page? Furthermore, no, I DON'T want to make "Optional Regions", so please do not suggest that.

    I know it's all probably a little confusing, but I hope the examples above more than descriptions aside. As you can probably assume, it is definitely a HUGE complication in my site if it does not end up being a solution, especially with all the time I put into making the child models, which I hope to rely on. It would be really silly if I had to script - in an editable region extra in each master-model-editable-region unique available within my child-model just so that I can update my child-model, in addition to my changes to my child-Pages, to fall as much as it would maintain the content that I never wanted to be editable in the child Page in the FIRST place.

    Some help would be appreciated sincerely, as soon as possible, if I could ask politely.

    Thank you. Sincerely,

    ~ Miss Cat

    = _ = I can't believe that I say this, after having written ALL that a period, but thanks to 'Dreamweaver CS5 for Dummies,' I just found out that if you place: @@("") @ in the editable area of the desired child/Nested model DO NOT passed down for your child-Pages, it won't appear not editable. God knows why such a discrete formula was the answer, but I guess that everything works. ... WHY WAS IT SO DIFFICULT TO FIND INFORMATION? @_ @ Information about nested templates in general seems quite hard to find, however, so I'm glad that I thought that this output /not/ never a full hour / after writing all this upward and detachment. #__#  ... At least my child models can work perfectly now, though. Then... FIXED scenario. ^^

    I hope that now this information will appear useful to someone else hunting for that information via Google or other search engine in the future. And if there is nothing at all that I'm still officially missing, then do feel free to add to food and let me know, because the last thing I need now of law are more surprising difficulties also slow down the productivity of this vast project I worked on... @_ @... But so far things seem to be going well. ^^ So I can just incredibly grateful that he will eventually be a solution to this ridiculous after all.

  • repeated transfer model regions nested

    Hello

    I have the following problem:

    I have create a root-level model, let's call him "rooty". This I derive from several second level (nested) models. Let's call one of them "nesty". The html pages of my site are always based on the "nested" - models, never on the 'rooty' - model.

    Pages html based on the different "nested" - models have slightly different properties (this is why there are several of them), but it must ALWAYS contain a region repeated the same layout and position. So I decided to set the region repeated in the 'rooty' - model.

    Whenever I have create a page based on "nesty" it will contain the blank repeating region, but not the ability to change the repeat region (for example, to add, delete, move and modify the rows in the table). Thus, the 'nesty' seems 'think' he has to calculate the content of the repeating region and put it in the html page created instead of spending all of the reproducible region to the html page.

    code snippets:
    Rooty *.
    <!-TemplateBeginRepeat name = 'product_row'->
    < tr valign = "top" >
    < td align = "right" valign = "top" > <!-TemplateBeginEditable name = 'image'-> <!-TemplateEndEditable--> < table >
    < td > < table >
    < td > <!-TemplateBeginEditable name = "description"--> <!-TemplateEndEditable--> < table >
    < /tr > <! - TemplateEndRepeat - >

    Nesty * (this is the code that I really want to see in the html page)
    <!-InstanceBeginRepeat name = 'product_row'--> <! - InstanceBeginRepeatEntry - >
    < tr valign = "top" >
    < td align = "right" valign = "top" > <!-InstanceBeginEditable name = "image"--> <!-InstanceEndEditable--> < table >
    < td > < table >
    < td > <!-InstanceBeginEditable name = "description"--> <!-InstanceEndEditable--> < table >
    < /tr > <! - InstanceEndRepeatEntry - > <! - InstanceEndRepeat - >

    page html
    < tr valign = "top" >
    < td align = "right" valign = "top" > < table >
    < td > < table >
    < td > < table >
    < /tr >

    Can you help me to pass the editable 'rooty' to the html page remaining region?

    Thanks in advance,
    Thomas

    Hello

    I solved the problem myself. The root-level model looks like this:

    This creates the following nested model:

  • Place a model in a model = loss of resolution?

    I am self-taught with After Effects. Somethings I know, other things like this I don't understand.

    I produce a training video to a website showing how to connect etc...

    I work with some a screenshot which is captured in 4K on an iMac for 5K on the customer site. When I play it in VLC it is nice and sharp. When I open it in AE, it's nice and sharp.

    The reason why I'm working with captured screen images 4 k is to allow me to zoom in on the images to view the specific details and then back to the "wide shot".

    When I go to make a composition of 25 fps HDTV 1080 x 1920 and insert images in there, resize it to the comp frame size, I expect to be able to zoom at the origin of the resolution and whether it is super crispy. But inside the model of 1080 p, the film is really bad pixellisant.

    Show screen capture:

    It's layer "S8" that opens in you s Auto - display with magnification of 100% and it is super strong. Good looking. (This video file is about 4072 pixel)

    Screen Shot 2016-02-12 at 09.42.59.png

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ----------

    It is the layer S8 in a model within a model. And it looks like hell. You will need to enlarge to see the difference.

    Screen Shot 2016-02-12 at 09.43.08.png

    Anyone got any ideas? Could really do with a helping hand on what I am at a bit of a dead-end. I don't know that it's probably something really simple that I missed.

    Thank you

    Normally you would judge only on quality with your set to 100% magnification factor. 200% can be OK for use on a screen high resolution if you check the options for the magnification and up to 200% is indicated. This is the case with my MBPro are if something happens.

    In the screenshot at the top of the page, you're watching the film Panel and judge a movie with the zoom factor of 100%. I'm assuming that the film is reduced in the comp named 57.

    In the screenshot of background, we know not what you do layer 4 (Comp 57) of ti. Assuming that the layer selected in the timeline panel shows the movie reduced to 38% and but the footage panel shows is not the result of this scaling I don't know what the nested comp (Comp 57) looks like. I guess the images which are scaling is less than half what it is in the footage Panel. In hand Comp layer 4 (57) is related to layer 3 (1 meter), and layer 4 doesn't have a collapse of the market transformations. Because I know what's going on, because none of the modified involved layers properties are revealed I can only assume that you have a nested model that contains images that was reduced to 38% and you have intensified this model nested using Layer 3 to something over 100%. Because compact transformations is not activated the result, that's exactly what I expected. If turn condense them transformations does not resolve the problem, then my assumptions are wrong.

    To take a problem that you want to select the layers that you give problems of boredom, press the U twice to reveal all changed properties a widening of departure then.

  • Nested Templates / div

    I created a standard template in Dreamweaver

    2 columns with a content of head region, the sidebar and the footer. Creating a nested template is easy, but I want to remove the sidebar or the second column (Div) of the nested model.
    I would like to than the other attributes of model to stay and day when I make changes to the original model as the Drop Menu that consists of the drop downs.
    Coherence of the whole of a site is important and I want to avoid the update to the bars of men.

    Any ideas on how to accomplish this task?

    I use Dreamweaver CS5.5

    If I understand correctly, you have a sidebar (in part) on your main template, you do not want to include on certain pages of the child.

    Article {width: 75%; float: left}

    side {width: 25%; float: left}

    You can use CSS on these pages of the child.

    side {display: none ;}}

    Article {width: 100 %}}

  • Create a site of several reactive using DW CC model page

    I have a model in place for a new Web site. Is it possible to use only one model for different structures of layout from one page to another?

    Specifically, I would like to change the boxes on different pages, so that a page has two columns, another page has three columns and the last page has a single column. Is this possible using a single model?

    I used a single sensitive model for other Web sites, but each of the pages had the same layout (two columns). There are no changes in the basic structure of one page to another.

    I'll have to explore nested templates.

    No, no, no, don't do it!  Nested models are a total nightmare to work with.

    A model should be all you need.  You just decide the number of columns on any given page child and adjust the widths of column with page specific CSS embed code as follows.

    Page 1

    Page 2

    Page 3

    Make sense?

  • Links in a model non-cooperating

    I am relatively new to dreamweaver, I have created a few simple sites before. My latest project is to place a menu bar of high, vertical navigation on pages, and so I decided to use templates. DWT pages themselves are where they should be, in the models folder in the root directory.

    For this site, the information on the project are master where I defined all the links. All subpages refer to this model so that they use consistent with links.

    project - information.html

    Overview.html

    Project - Location.html

    Construction - Schedule.html

    Ranging from information about the project to any subpage very well work. Passing a subpage to information project also works. The problem is that if I make a redundant click on project information (while on the same page of project information), I get a 404 error. He's trying to take me a level that does not exist.

    I hope this question makes sense. I don't know why users would need to double click on the link, but I am anticipating if they do, to have the page reload simply itself, rather than giving a 404 error. I know a solution is to use the path to the site root, but that creates problems for people in the Office to view the Web site locally before launch through their Web browser.

    Thanks for any help you can provide.

    I created a second model (this is what you mean by nested model)?

    Indeed, it is. The second model is a child of the first model. This nesting is what you zooms in a whole other level of complexity of things.

    I have something like it would accomplish as follows.

    The model contains the main menu and an editable region where the secondary menu would go to each page.

    In this editable region on each page, I put something in the library containing the desired secondary menu, or a server-side include containing the desired secondary menu.

    Boom. Immediately (unless I misunderstood your story) I have eliminated the use of nested models and simplify your life!

    Because the home page uses a different pattern of provision than other pages, you can do one of two things:

    1. keep the home page as a static, stand-alone page. To avoid having to remember to update the changes on this page the two stand alone and in the template page for all other pages of menu, use either a library item or a server side include to the main menu.

    2. include the TWO layouts in the model and use a small, embedded stylsheet placed in the editable area of the model 'head' to turn off one or other of the provisions with the strategic groups of ' display: no ' styles. For example, on the page template, you might have a container for the SPE (id = "home_layout") stacked on another container for internal layouts (id = "interior_layout"). Then the home page you'd have this stylesheet in the editable 'head'.

    Inner pages would reverse this order.

    Does make sense?

  • Model connections keep breaking

    I have a single main template file. Child pages do not seem to be properly attached to the model. They update very well, but they do not work completely as it should. For example, properties of the model is almost always gray. I need access to this function to enable or disable an optional region that is in the template file. In addition, under Edit > models, "Away from the model" and other options are grayed out, indicating no link to a template file.

    I can even go to new > template page and choose my model and the page which is still suffering from these symptoms. Once, I was able to choose randomly the model applies to the Page, and who actually worked somehow. But normally, accomplishes exactly nothing.

    Some things stand out:
    -I have not moved or renamed the file model or one of its children or messed with the file structure or add any other files in the folder template

    -I don't mean to change outside the editable regions in my child pages

    -I'm not trying to add content in the section regions editable in the template file

    -J' have editable regions and an optional region

    -No nested model

    -The optional region is a variable that can be changed using 'model properties... ', assuming that it is not grayed out

    -I don't have any unusual model code in the template file, just a few editable regions, and an optional region, and "<!-TemplateInfo codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked = 'true'-> ' because I have a few php scripts before the tag html

    Dreamweaver CS5
    Windows 7

    Any help would be appreciated. I'm just a little frustrated because the models seem not that complicated of a concept, but I keep running into roadblocks like these. Thank you in advance.

    SOLVED! Add this to your list of really weird things, I guess. Thank you very much for your help, at least she guided me to understand. So here it is.

    SOLUTION: A file .php for a contact form which was included in the html code of almost every page via an include command hasandlabels that it contained. I removed these tags, and all my problems disappeared completely. It's weird that this never affected my html or whatever it actually is functioning, but the model is broken.

    It took some time for me solve this, but I realized that at least one of the files in the folder affect the function of the model. From there on, I just reduced and finally figured it out. Obviously the HTML in the .php file were a problem around that maybe I should have noticed earlier, and honestly, I'm not entirely sure why they are there in the first place, it's just a code of contact form, I found online. Whatever it is, my bad, I'm happy that I thought about it. So thank you for your help, and I hope that other people will find it and be helped.
