Never, I deposited my product key. Is it too late?

When I bought my laptop I didn't know anything about requirements to record the program already installed on it, i.e. Windows XP Home Edition. Over the years, I tried to use things like 'Microsoft Outlook' only to be told to enter the product code, but when I do I lead nowhere. Is it too late?

«'Record' is not the same thing as ' activation '.»  Activation is required - and Windows XP on your computer has been activated or you could not use it - and registration is completely optional.

Outlook (as opposed to Outlook Express) is part of Microsoft Office.  This is a product different from Microsoft Windows and requires a different product key.  Did you buy Microsoft Office or was it preinstalled on your computer?  If the latter, it also has been activated (were you using Microsoft Word, for example?).

What you are trying to do now and what is the exact error message you get?

    I think that when you install XP and turn on the first time, Microsoft collects information from your system during this process to develop a signature of material that goes with your license and store it away.  Of course, they do not collect any personal information :)

    They do it so that if someone takes your XP installation license and tries to apply it to another computer (it is piracy) that the installation would not activate as your activation must match your hardware.

    If someone tried to install and activate your license on another machine with a different set of hardware, MS would say, wait a minute - this license has already been activated on another machine, and he could complain.  Then someone has some ' splaing to do.

    I suspect that in your facilities in 2nd and 3rd, MS takes a look at things and said... this material signature and the license already go hand in hand, that nothing has changed here, so it is not necessary to activate again, all right.

    This is why, if one day you need to replace your motherboard and reinstall XP, even if you have everything and it's all legitimate, you will probably have to reactivate again since the signing of material would be completely different for this license that MS remembers the first activation.  A few small hardware changes, that you can get away with, but if the number of points collected to compensate for the signing during the initial activation is too different, you will need help activating.

    In this case, if things are legitimate, you can call MS activation team, and if you can convince them that there is no hacking involved and you just have to change your motherboard, they work with you to get your reactive stuff.

    Off my laptop while it updates installed, I turned on and typed my password and was presented with a window telling me that the "windows vista product key I typed is invalid for activation. However, I never typed in a product key.

    (I had a problem with my computer over Christmas where I had to get my computer sent in as there was a problem with the sound card.)

    I bought windows 7 online and updated my pc which has vista on it, but I never received my product key in an email and now windows asks me to activate, but I have also... a product key during installation that never asked me a product key...

    When I posted this question I hunting me through my email as well and I went through all my balls those and I found it buried right down there... it was close of deleted automatically aswell... I also tried to recover my key online, but that was a dead-end road that comes to ask I contact support which really helped a lot. Thanks anyway ():

    I'll give you as much information as possible! I'm running on 64-bit and I had to erase my entire hard drive and re install windows (which took forever).  My product key is legitimate too!

    If after you have reinstalled windows 7 from USB, my computer went from home premium to ultimate windows and now my product key no longer works. So, what can I do? And if there is something I can do, can someone explain this in simple instructions!

    Dear Toshiba support,

    My Toshiba Satellite C660-1R1 bought in 2011. By the end of 2013, the original HARD drive died and I replaced it with an SSD.     Some people have had success with the digitization of the AOC and using software to improve the image.
    This year I bought a R50 Pro of the Satellite with Windows 7 pro and I can't find a sticker (COA) about it.

  • Windows 7 product key blocked - not genuine notice

    My T420 is 3 years old and all of a sudden yesterday I received the notice and black screen saying "this copy of Windows is not genuine". And nag screens on it about every half hour (and annoyingly at startup).

    I tried several fixes online, including the re - enter the product key. When I do this I get the error 0XC004F063. There is no place to contact Microsoft for a replacement key, it says to contact Lenovo.

    I talked to Lenovo support this morning and told me I might need to reinstall Windows, and they were mailing - me to restore disks. He checked and said with this error code that I had to call Microsoft.

    I called MS and we checked the product key... it's blocked. I gave her my product ID and which is also blocked. He said to come back to Lenovo.

    Lenovo doesn't know anything about. Or what to do about it. The woman was told she had someone call this morning with something similar, if it was Windows 8. She checked and several other people support had similar appeals this morning. She also said that I would probably have to reinstall Windows. I asked if she would have never had this before and she said no. I asked if she knew other people having these calls before and she didn't say that she didn't know. I asked that if it seemed suspicious that all of a sudden some people had this problem. It seems that Lenovo blocked a series of product keys. It was covered on if she was really out of hand and said the Commissioner knew it and they would look inside. When I asked if they would contact me if they found anything, she said that this does not work like that. They you me sending restore disks and I am for the reminder Friday to see if someone knows something.

    In the meantime, here is my log Genuine Ms. It seems correct to my untrained eye... does anyone have any ideas or know of others, especially in the last 24 hours?

    This mark as RESOLVED. I had sorted it. Person (including me) realized that the Belarc gives key product is a generic Lenovo and that the absence of a tile is because it is under the battery. I just didn't know and neither Lenovo two supported people!

    Recently, I have a laptop HP preinstalled Windows 10. Everything was fine until tonight. System has proved to be valid until the 12.03.2016. Pressing on 'Activate' does not help. As you can see below... "Windows is activated" but expires on "sobota, 12 marca 2016." (Sorry for the Polish language, did not know how to change back ). The problem is, I can't find the product key. I don't have it... This isn't in the box of this laptop came. I have not received any email, I don't have a DVD because it was preinstalled. There is no sticker on the laptop. Not covered by the battery... Anyone know how to get it, or what should I do with this problem?

    Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but real HP computers laptops come with an OEM of Win10 preinstalled - version, which not only is already enabled, it also NEVER expires.

    My best guess at this point is that anyone who sold you this laptop you made a mistake by installing a pirated version of Win10 (to avoid paying the fees that MS fresh OEM license).

    I did some quick checking, and the key shows on the screen, this is the default THEME for Win10 home - ending key by H8Q99.  It is one of the keys that can ONLY be used to install Win10; It cannot be used to activate it. If it was a legitimate OEM HP facility, he would have a different key.

    My suggestion at this point is to contact the seller and arrange return the laptop for a full refund - and do not buy from them again.
