  • Installed the new hard drive - now "OS not found"

Hi, I recently installed a new hard drive in my laptop because the old hard drive was dead. So, I installed the hard drive and I am now installing the operating system using the Dell disk I received with my laptop. This is for the 32-bit window Vista and it says it should be used for re-installation of Vista. It was in a sealed envelope - so it has never been used.

When I start the laptop and insert the disc, it just says: operating system not found.  I made sure the cd drive is the first in the startup list.  I also put the drive into another laptop and copied the files on a USB key.  Then tried to install it on the USB. No luck.

I have run the system diagnostics, and it says that my hard drive and cd drive are recognized and functioning.

The dell cd drive is not bootable?  Thanks in advance for your help.

I was able to fix this on my own. It turns out that one of the files has been altered I discovered once I was finally able to get it to boot from a USB device.  I found the one window Vista installation disk other that I have with another computer laptop and used that. Worked well.

  • Bluetooth device driver not found after accidental uninstall (Win7 64 bit)

I use a Plantronics M50 bluetooth headset on my mobile, Skype etc. All troubleshooting yesterday (had a problem with the microphone volume is very low) I followed a few steps of an article if found on a Microsoft forum, telling me to uninstall the driver, as well as to restart my laptop (Win7 64 bit) would recognize and re - install the driver.

In Device Manager, I right-click on the M50 (under audio, video and game controllers) device and chose to uninstall (as prescribed in the MS article). Here's where I shot myself in the foot; I ticked the box "Delete the driver for this device" (thinking that Win7 would get a fresh driver from Windows Update to reboot)

After the reboot, my laptop started to reinstal the driver device, but for "Bluetooth device" reports "no driver not found"

I myself tried in vain things:

    • tried to find the driver sur.com, but isn't available (plug-and-play)
    • installed software (incl. Plantronics Control Panel) Plantronics package
    • I tried Windows Update
    • installed Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 Driver (as advised on various sites to set "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" reports questions 'no driver found'

At the hope that someone had a suggestion for what else to try, or maybe how to find out what that exactly that I deleted by choosing 'delete the driver for this device '.

    Thanks in advance!

    Edit:

Just in case it helps, I noticed that the following folder is created at the time of uninstal and reinstal, containing calisto.inf, calisto. PNF and Calisto.cat

    C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\calisto.inf_amd64_neutral_2b13d4544d6cf2e6

I decided to use Sytem Restore to restore my system to before I uninstalled the driver. There are a few downsides to this, but so far the benefits outweigh them.

  • Bluetooth hardware is not found on SL500

    Hello!

    I have a problem with my new installation of Windows 7 RC1 on my Thinkpad SL500 (2746 - 4DG).

Cannot find the Bluetooth hardware or the bluetooth driver in Device Manager. Although the hardware works in my Vista install on another partition.

It's my second installtion of Win7 on this unit and I'm sure that bluetooth was working with the first installation of 90%. (I did the second, fresh install after that Lenovo released their beta drivers for Win7).

Any advice in getting bluetooth to work? Is there any place to get the error logs on the material as dmesg in linux, etc. ?

  • Bluetooth peripheral device not found

No matter how many times I click FIX, it shows nothing found. Cannot do anything with bluetooth. Help, please.

    Here's the thing, I'm getting http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/4150/blutuuth.png

Is your Bluetooth device built into the PC or did add you yourself?  If the first case, you have to contact the manufacturer of the PC.  They should have the driver available for download.  If the latter, the unit should have come with a driver.  Try to reinstall it.

  • Audition CS 5.5 new computer QTCF. DLL not found but its there

I have hearing CS 5.5 and the latest Quicktime installed on my old laptop Windows 7 and the new laptop Windows 8.1 that I'm working on setting up right now.

On the old laptop, I am able to open an MP4 video file (uploaded to youtube) and get the audio.

On the new laptop, I get a message that QTCF.dll is not installed and it won't let me open the audio from the mp4 file.

I used Winmerge to compare the different directories to program the hearing and Quicktime files, and they are identical! And the directory which has QTCF.dll is on the path.

    QuickTime itself works well.

So why do I get this error and how to fix it?

I installed both as an administrative user and confirmed the UAC prompt, so this isn't the issue.

Has been installed before hearing or after QT. If, after trying to uninstall and reinstall Audition so that he can find QTCF.dll. You can also try to put a copy of QTCF.dll into the record of the hearing, but you'd probably have to new registration there.
