No audio Inspiron E1505

OK, watered by my wife's cell phone this time.   I've been troubleshooting audio playback choppy on DVD (think it's the XP SP3 now) and I uninstalled Microsoft patch KB35221 (high definition audio).  Don't think it was a big deal, because I could always re - install from the Microsoft Web site.

Wrong on both points... it's a big problem because he has killed all of the audio from the laptop and Microsoft has more KB35221 for download.

I tried to reinstall the audio drivers from Dell, but now it says "this device is not supported by your hardware."

Can I do besides reinstalling Windows on the laptop?

Thank you

Richard

    douglasbrooksXB,

Go to the Dell warranty status , enter your service tag, click the original configuration. Everything must be registered to know which video you and card wireless network. If you have an Intel card, install them before the other brand (if there is one. I know that on some models later, need Intel drivers installed before the nVidia drivers.

I would install the Dell system software and chipset drivers.

Then, install the ethernet drivers and your adapter wireless, followed by Dell Quickset. Then, you can get online to install video and audio drivers without problem.

  • Inspiron e1505 will not do anything.

I was given an inspiron e1505 and it not work when people who had it and put a way. When he took over the battery was dead and they plug and battery does not charge and it will not be powered with the AC adapter. There no lights come on nothing. The adapter works. I plug it into my other laptop dell and it market. So it isn't the power adapter. I know they told me the cpu over heated once because the wind was block with dust but they clean and it work after that.  What I've done so far is taken on the battery and the laptop on the left battery it unplug two hours and put everything back in and nothing happen. So I'm lost. Hope that someone out there may be able to help. Thanks for any help I can get.

    You can try a reset:

Remove the battery, hold the power button for 30 seconds with the system disconnected and remove and reinstall the memory modules and hard drive.  Attempt to light only on AC - if it will be, but is not installed battery, the battery is defective part.

If it still doesn't turn on then the answer is probably here:

"I know that they told me the once over heated cpu because the wind was block with dust but they clean and it work after that."

All it takes is an episode of overheating damage to the motherboard.

  • Upgrade of RAM for Inspiron E1505

I have Inspiron E1505 I bought in November 2006. I have upgraded from his hard drive of 80 GB to 320 GB and now I want to upgrade the RAM to 1 GB (2x512MB 533 MHz) 4 GB (2x2gb 667 MHz). I've seen a lot of posts here from people using 4 GB of RAM in Inspiron E1505; Although can only use 3.2 GB.

If you have a look at the BIOS, it tells you if the memory is running in dual channel or single channel mode. Anyone can confirm for me that while having 4GB RAM; It works in dual channel mode or single channel mode? So that I can make a decision whether I should go for 2 GB, 3 GB or 4 GB.

    Any help would be appreciated.

My question is, what preparation do I need to do to replace my hard drive? (ie. backup, backup recovery, etc..) Basically I want all that is on my computer at that moment a little on a bigger hard drive. I do not understand how to change it, but I need to know how to get the information I have (from my original hd) on this subject after I install it.

Also, is there anything else I need to change for this hd work. (I currently have Intel T2300 at 1.66 GHz,.99 GB of RAM if it would be helpful)

I know a bit about computers, but not too technical if you please.

I have a 1.5 years inspiron e1505 running Windows XP Media Center Edition, t2500 centrino duo @ 2 GHz, with 1 GB of RAM.  The drive is a Toshiba DVD burner L - 532 B 24 X CD/8 X and I am using Roxio to try to burn a data disc.  Until a week ago, the burner worked fine, reaching speeds of 8 X target, but now he summits to 0.97 X and takes an hour just to burn a disc, even if it burns correctly all data... someone has suggestions for settings or patches that could help? I have not installed or downloaded any new program within the last week and have no idea what could be the cause of the problem... Thank you!
