No bookmarks or history after reset of Firefox. Help?

I've upgraded to Firefox 26 to solve memory problems. However Firefox was still slow every few seconds. So, I did a restart of Firefox.

Now, I've lost:
1. the bookmarks
2. history
3 button
4 default home page

I tried to restore a backup of bookmarks of yesterday, but all files give a processing error.

OK, I stopped and restarted Firefox and the problem disappeared. I now bookmarks and history and a "back" button.

I have no idea why they're working now.

  • How can I copy bookmarks to reinstall after reloading of firefox?

I'll do a recovery on my pc s wife. Everything will be wiped. I want to save bookmarks on a flash drive or disk, so I can reload in firefox after its reinstalled.

Hi captinchaos, I know how useful to reset a pc can be. I understand how it is important to get your saved bookmarks. I'd be happy to help you get your saved bookmarks.

The best way to get your bookmarks saved as well as your browsing history is to use the Firefox sync for free. This was built several versions now. If you want to view the corresponding article on how to implement click here. To set to the top, click the three lines at the top right. Then to the bottom of the drop-down list click on sing in sync. Then you will set up an account and then select what you want to record. After that, you are free to reset your wife's computer. Then, you can shoot everything in sync. Basically you connect to the account once you have Firefox on the computer again. The article contains more information if necessary.

I hope this helps. If you need help or information made me know.

  • Lost bookmarks and tabs after upgrading to Firefox 12

Against my better judgment, I've upgraded to Firefox 12. Immediately, all the bookmarks have disappeared. Whenever I started Firefox, I got a 'new tab' with nothing else. No favorites. No memory of the previous tabs. I did a restore and thought I had fixed it since everything is back, however once I closed Firefox and it started again is towards the Virgin Firefox with nothing and 'new tab '. I was already on Firefox 10 and with great reluctance ever to level, but I've updated another computer to version 12 without problem so I said ' this the heck, worked once should work again. " Evil. One possible cause is a problem with the places.sqlite file that stores the bookmarks and history.

You can also try to repair the database of places with this extension:

  • After reset my Firefox is no longer opens web pages automatically when I type keywords in the address bar. How can I fix it?

Before I reset my Firefox I could any words in the address bar and Firefox would redirect me to the Web site. For example, typing ' reservoir dogs, imdb "would redirect to the film's IMDB page, and type a random sequence of characters would take me to (for example) a website of a company that uses these characters as an abbreviation of his name.

I never put this option anywhere, it was just like that for quite a long time. Now, this possibility came to me and I can't seem to fix it.

I use Mozilla Firefox 21 laters.

  • Download missing history after upgrading to Firefox 26

    Hi Firefox Team,

I've updated my Mac Version of Firefox 25.0.1 and just found out that my story to download is missing. Why it is to be deleted?

    THX

On Mac, it would be the command + J.

The record of downloads in the Download Manager (library; are you referring to show all downloads)?

Do you see the normal history?

  • Cannot delete a bookmark in "Unsorted Bookmarks". I tried "resetting" of firefox.

I can't delete individual "Unsorted Bookmarks." I have no problem to delete bookmarks from the Menu "Favorites".

I have a lot of these bookmarks that I can't remove. They just clutter up the drop down bookmarks menu and make it almost unusable.

No need to delete the entire category "Unsorted Bookmarks", although this would be an acceptable solution.

COR - el: thanks for the quick response. It has not solved the problem, but something that you said does not lead to a solution.

To reformulate the problem, there was a lot of bookmarks, which appeared in the drop-down menu that simply cannot be deleted.

I was able to delete 'normal' bookmarks by bringing their respective pages on the left by clicking on the star in "Edit this bookmark" which appears near the right end of the URL field and then clicking "Delete bookmark" from the context menu that appears. In this case, the star would be yellow and in the popup, the folder would be called bird "Bookmarks Menu".

Where I couldn't delete the bookmark, the star would be white and the record would be qualified bird "Unsorted Bookmarks."

It made no difference if I started firefox in safe or normal mode.

It had been years that I used the bookmarks bar and I had completely forgotten it existed. You mentioned it in your response, however, and I decided to try it. Bingo! In the sidebar, I could with the right Bookmark button and then click 'remove '. It worked even for bookmarks that I could not remove any other way.

I don't know if it is a bug in version 16 of firefox, or if somehow my bookmarks file had accumulated incorrect metadata for many years to update version.

In any case, for me, is a problem solved.

The toolbars are still on display in your browser?

If you still have the address bar, right click on any part that is not a text box or the icon, or if you do not like that of any space right click on the three horizontal lines on the right side of the address bar window. This should show some options, click on 'Menu Bar' and the tabs you are missing should appear.

As a side note, usually if these options are missing, your icon of firefox in the upper left corner of the window should look different (being a rectangular button itself as opposed to an icon), and the 'file', 'Edition', 'Bookmarks', etc., are found after clicking on this button.

    Hope that helps.

  • Several major problems with Firefox - crash, loss of bookmarks and history, totalling amnesia

On my Windows 7 Professional 64-bit system, I met worse problems I've had with Firefox (all versions, I tried the oldest and the newest, who currently use 37). One day, I rebooted by computer, and when I started Firefox, it was completely broken. He was not able to load my favorites, TabGroupsManager could not load my recorded session and it crashed when I tried to search Google or visit several Web sites. I couldn't fix it and migrate Pale Moon until exactly the same thing happened there. I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled, but now whenever I open it, it's as if it was just installed - no profile information, no Add-ons, no Favorites, absolutely nothing. Application data HAVE folders for profiles that have been opened every time - Firefox does not access and does not recognize that they exist.

I'm totally lost and at the end of my mind. None of the aid or other sites have been any help at all. The problem is exclusive to a single computer - two other computers I've used do not have this problem at all. Help, please!

(Additional note: when I met the first problems of Pale Moon, it gave me an error that it could not access the bookmarks and history because another application has their use.) This error never appeared in Firefox, but given identical patterns of problems and the fact that the pale Moon is based on Firefox, I think it might be relevant).

Well, I think that the problem at least explained that now and patched up right now. I went to a COMPUTER specialist at work and after work things have stabilized.

The computer I'm is a Department that usually connects to a server. The profile data is actually stored via this server, and when I lived the problems, I was at home and that it was not connected to the server said. Normally it is supposed to be a current synchronization that stores things like that to a task on my computer - but for some reason what not really, or at least not properly. That's why I couldn't find a profile.ini file - it was only stored in a place that could not access the computer. After getting to work and do a few random files and other reading, Firefox and Pale Moon are fully functional again, and I can't find the files profile.ini appropriate on the server (they are not yet on my computer, and I don't know how to read locally).

The best solution to the problems 'offline' we had was through a VPN so that I always have access to the server. I would like to get the files on my computer so that I wouldn't have to worry about this, but it's a question that needs to be addressed separately.

Thanks to Seraph for their help in this confusing issue. I have an idea of what to look for if something like this happens again.

I can record is more than all of the new bookmarks after update to Firefox 40.0.2.
I have over 1000 bookmarks and also use xMarks.
I tried to remove 5 bookmarks and save a new bookmark, but it does not work.
When I click on the bookmark star, stars in the bookmarks folder jumps, but does not record, it does not offer the possibility of filing in the subfolder right it me and the star is not awarded (there should be one filled with stars when the Web site is updated bookmark)

Thank you for your help. I tried the maintenance of places without success. I have disabled xMarks, but it made no difference, I couldn't save all new bookmarks. I went on the site help above and deleted the "places.sqlite" file and recreates a new file, but it didn't work. I uninstalled Firefox full using IOBit Uninstaller and reinstalled, but I found this program does not delete the profile folder (used to have a checked during uninstall of Firefox, but it seems to have disappeared in the latest versions). The problem persisted.

Finally, I took a screenshot of all my addons. Then, I uninstalled Firefox again, then delete the entire folder profiles (located very usefully described in the second link above https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Bookmarks+not+saved#w_fix-the-bookmarks-file )
I reinstalled Firefox, reinstalled xMarks and connected and transferred all my favorites, I reinstalled all my previous addons and ALTO - it now everything works perfectly!

    Thank you for your help

  • How do you the bookmarks and history buttrons open boxes in Firefox 33?

How I make the bookmarks and history buttons open their respective boxes instead of having to use the submenu stupid button on the sidebar?

Apparently, the Restorer of classic theme worked for Firefox 29, but it does not work for 33:
    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/questions/991080

There are two sets of buttons of toolbar tools for history and bookmarks in the palette to customize with the CTR extension installed. You need those without drop marker to open the sidebar.

  • "Bookmarks and history system is not functional" with corrupt files found by Avast and slow loading Web sites ONLY in Firefox

Firefox is the only browser that allows me to connect with my microphone. I need to use this feature for an online class. Earlier tonight, the message invites me to grant or deny permission to site class to use the microphone stopped appearing and without this registration only will pick up all the sounds and I can't save anything.

I tried to quit and restart Firefox. I had a few extensions in use at the time, in particular Session Manager. The allow/deny message would not always appear, then I restarted my computer.

Now when I open Firefox, I see the message error "the bookmarks and history system won't be not functional. In addition, the browser loads websites extremely slowly; It takes several minutes to load each page or for me to be able to click on anything whatsoever (bar URL, menus, etc.) my other browsers (Internet Explorer and Chrome) are functioning normally and loading Web sites at a normal speed. I tried to download the latest version of Firefox, but it does not solve anything. I also tried to restart the computer again, but that didn't help either.

I ran my Avast software system check, and it has mounted as the following files under "C:\Users\ (me) \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\Irozixj7.default ' are 'damaged and unreadable ':
    -cookies.sqlite - shm
    -cookies.sqlite - wal
    -localstore.rdf
    -places.sqlite - shm

There was one more problem on the analysis, but it is probably not relevant: the file "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Definition Updates\{9A2C6FA7-E04E-4819-B86A-8363A9D1E42A}\mpengine.dll" it says "the system does not have the specified path. When I tried to follow the path shown, one of the files (I can't remember who) said something along the lines of "you can't access this folder, you want to allow access to this file permanently? I said yes and was able to access the folder.

I tried to add the extension in Maintenance of places, but the speed is too slow to download anything. Trying to access any results of the menus in the Explorer freezing for several minutes then thaw but with the menu still unopened. As a result, none of the solutions found here (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-bookmarks-and-history-will-not-be-functional?esab=a & as = aaq) seem to work.

    My questions are the following:
-Is it possible to understand what caused the problem in the first place?
Is there a way for me to fix it without losing my bookmarks and history?
-How can I prevent that from happening again in the future?

First of all, I recommend you backup your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox. You can copy the folder of your Firefox profile together somewhere outside the Mozilla folder. To quickly access this folder:

Help > troubleshooting information > "view file" button.

Then, to keep this file open, exit Firefox and try to move "damaged and unreadable" files to another folder. With the exception of localstore.rdf, which stores the positions of windows, toolbar tools and other data non-essential customizations, other files appear to be specific session files that we hope, are not critical. If you restart Firefox, should he behave more normally?

If this is not the case, try to create a fresh Firefox profile. It will be the Flash plugin, which is the control of sites use usually to connects to your camera or microphone and other plugins, but otherwise will be a new configuration. This article has the commissioning steps in the Profile Manager: use the Profile Manager to create and delete profiles Firefox.

If the sites are functioning normally in the new profile, you can import your bookmarks from your old profile, as well as the copy on the other files that do not appear to be the cause of the problem. Some trial and error may be needed to determine that. This article has a few tips: recovery of data from an old profile.

If the new profile is not better, you can exit Firefox and use the Profile Manager to return to your original profile.

    Any improvement?
