Hi mcnesium,
Unfortunately there is not featured or add on even for that. [at least not for 33, https://addons.mozilla.org/mk/firefox/addon/favicon-picker-3/]

  • How can I add an icon to a Web page in my bookmarks bar?

Most Web pages have the coding for the small square icon in the bookmarks toolbar.
    Some do not.
How can I add an icon to a Web page that does not have an assigned icon?

It saves space for icons rather than a description of the page.

These icons are called the favicons. Unfortunately, there no Firefox builtin feature to customize or change the favicon as the favicon is determined by a line in the HTML code of the site.

There are many addons for Firefox that improve your browsing experience and allow you to make some customizations to Firefox. You can browse the addons of Firefox here.

The only addon that I could find was the Favicon Images bookmarks addon, but it seems that there are some restrictions and you are only allowed to choose an icon from the list of the addon, not a custom image.

  • Favicon of the reserved site will not update

A few days ago, I changed a favicon on one of my sites and still my favicon in bookmarks Firefox remains the old favicon with constancy and will not update to the new! I tried "forget history" for the site and looked where Firefox stores the bookmark info, but it of like a .sql file and is not easy to change.

No idea why my bookmark favicon is not / will not not to date and how I can get it to update?

    Hello
Thank you! The code worked and this is a solution to the problem.

I was not sure of the answer "not defined", but when I visited my favorites all favicons had disappeared!
Then I visited my site with the new favicon and finally he updated the favorite icon in the bookmark! Good!

Now that I visit all sites in my bookmarks to restore all the favicons to all my favorite sites!

  • export bookmarks

export bookmarks from one Mac laptop to another

When you decide to export and import a Favorites. HTML file, or use a JSON bookmark backup file to 'restore '...

JSON files contain your tags, but do not contain the individual images (Favicons) for bookmarks. JSON replaces also all existing bookmarks in the target installation of Firefox.

The type of HTML file has the Favicons for bookmarks, but does not provide the tag data. The type of HTML file adds the existing bookmarks.

4 but it still shows the icon of IE

You can try to use an absolute path to favorite icon instead:

However, IE is famous for not showing the favicon occasionally.  To give him a good boost, load to the top of the page with the favicon and bookmark the page, you should then I hope to see the favicon :-)

or edit... no idea how to get around?

It seems that the pages were created from a template.  You must make the change in the main template file (DWT) and change should filter and then down to all pages of this model from child.

Need a folder models in the site folder and work inside you should find a file by name - of - file.dwt. He is the model page, with you work.

  • Why firefox cannot save the favicons of websites to bookmarks?

In Firefox 35.0.1 under Windows 7 x 64, I have several questions about the icons. None of the bookmarks on the toolbar in the toolbar bookmarks or in the booksmarks has none of the icons/Favicons appear for the Web site even if I visited some of these sites. All I see is squares exposed dashed.

New tab page is not also show screenshots of the sites even after I vist them. I have only 2 sites of 15 sites on the new tab page. The rest of the squares are empty with squares.

This is happening even after the creation of a new profile, clearling cache.

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • Click the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. This might help others with the same problem.

The bookmark Favicon changer add-on is currently installed on my browser [ESR 31.2.0] and it seems to work, although imperfectly. Yet the pages of the add-on (https://addons.mozilla.org/) do not list it at all, I see. What is going on?

I've just updated to Firefox 29... and it disabled an add-on, I am using for some time (deiconizer bookmarks). Is there a way to remove ugly and unnecessary favicons in my bookmarks toolbar in order to make more room for real and functional bookmarks?

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder currently in use:

    • Help > troubleshooting information > profile directory: see file (Linux: open the directory;) Mac: View in the Finder)
    • Create the folder chrome (lowercase) in the .default < xxxxxxxx > profile folder if the folder does not exist.
    • Use a text editor such as Notepad to create a userChrome.css (new) file in this folder (the names are case-sensitive).
    • Paste the code in the userChrome.css file in the Editor window and make sure that the userChrome.css file starts with the default @namespace line.
    • Make sure that you select "All files" and not "text files" when you save the file via "save file as" in the text editor as userChrome.css.

Otherwise, Windows can add a hidden .txt file extension, and you end up with a file not work userChrome.css.txt or userContent.css.txt.

  • How can I completely remove bookmark toolbar favicons?

I added the following code to my file userChrome.css, but favicons appear again when I download files (documents, photos, etc.). How can I get rid of the favicons completely, so that they reappear after a download?
    Thank you!

You must create a folder of chrome in the Firefox profile folder and in the chrome folder, you must create a userChrome.css file if the file is currently not present.

You can paste the above posted the code in the file by using a text editor (i.e. do not use special formatting).

The chrome and userChrome.css names are case-sensitive.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
