No option in the user account dialog box to add administrator to my account

I have only 1 currently on my computer and I want to say to have administrator privileges.  I use Windows XP Home Edition SP3

Hello

1. have you had any administrator account on your computer before?

Method 1.
If you have an administrator account on your computer before, then you can perform a system restore and go back to this account.

Method 2.
If the problem persists I you recommend to start on the administrator account via safe mode and then change the type of account for your administrator account.

I hope this helps.

  • Page CSS-need help beyond editing options in the Page Properties dialog box

    I want to add a simple fill right and the right float to a Web site. The Page Properties dialog box allows a fill only to the left. I know the CSS code that I need to add (right margin) (float) and I could do in Dreamweaver... but is there a way to add my own little bit of code to a page? I know that you can add HTML to an object, but what about adding CSS to a page? It doesn't seem to be in the metadata tab in the <>empty space, or if this is the case, then extra bits that I don't know. Can anyone help?

    You can create your own style, save it in the root folder and a link on the page.

    It worked for me.

    This has removed the policies, and now I'm able to connect without a pw again!

"or below cela" the following user ' to add details. I'm afraid that someone is trying to take over my computer. I have run Norton anti virus. How to stop what appears and get rid of it. This is a major threat. Paul

    Hi Paul,

    1. what anti-virus software do you use?

    2 you use the password while logging on to the user account?

    I suggest you of change the logon window and the shutdown preferences in Windows XP to resolve the problem.

    Setup configures Windows XP to use the friendly welcome logon screen and close buttons, if your computer is installed as a computer (a computer where a network domain has not been specified).

    This article describes how you can enable the classic logon screen used by Windows XP Server that resembles the following example:

    Log on to Windows

    User name: _______
    Password: __________

    To temporarily use the classic logon screen, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete twice on the Welcome logon screen.

    To configure Windows XP to use the classic logon and shutdown for each logon screens, follow these steps:

    a. click Startand then click Control Panel.
    b. double-click user accounts.
    c. click on change the way users log on or off the power.
    d. Click to uncheck the use the Welcome screen check box.

    Note: If you disable the Welcome logon screen, you also disable the fast user switching option.

    If you want users to press CTRL + ALT + DEL before the classic logon appears like a Windows XP-based computer that is joined to a domain, follow these steps:

    a. click Start, click run, type regedit in the Open box and then click OK.
    b. click the Winlogon subkey at the following registry location:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
    c. click change, click newand then click DWORD value.
    d. to change the name of the value, type DisableCADand press ENTER.
    e. keep the data value set to 0. The set of data values appear as 0x00000000 (0).

    Warning: Ask users to press CTRL + ALT + DEL before the classic logon screen appears.

    If you don't want that, then come back in a classic.

    Note: To do: Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • Black screen after logging in to the user account

    Hi, I hope someone can help me?
    After I start my computer, I get to the login page of user account, I select my user account, after that, the Welcome screen appears for about 15 seconds then my screen turns off completely. I've discovered since I manually launch Explorer.exe with ctrl, alt, del and run the new task from Task Manager, whenever I connect - which is obviously not ideal!  This only started 3 days ago and I think it can happen when I inserted an SD card in someone elses computer in my own to upload photos, when I tried to log in the next day, that's when the problem started.
    How can I prevent that from happening in the future and he can start on login?
    I am running Windows Vista 32-bit operating system on a HP pavilion slimline.
    Thank you
    Bearsby1972

    Hi Bearsby1972,

    Thanks for posting on the forums.

    I strongly suggest that you start backing up your files now, just in case. After you have saved your machine, try to run the System File Checker and restore your system prior to 3 days if possible.

    From Article

    How to repair the operating system and how to restore the configuration of the operating system to an earlier point in time in Windows Vista

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/936212/

    The System File Checker tool

    To determine if the problem you are experiencing is caused by one or more system files that are used by Windows Vista, run the System File Checker tool. The System File Checker tool analyzes the system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.

    To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

    1. click Startand type cmd in the box start the search .

    2 right-click cmd in the programs list and then click run as administrator.

    Collapse this includes this image

    If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click continue

    3. at the command calls, the following line and press ENTER: sfc/scannow

    When the analysis is complete, test to see if the problem you are experiencing is resolved. If the problem you are experiencing is not resolved, use the procedure that is described in the section "the System Restore tool.

    The System Restore tool

    Other troubleshooting methods, such as using the System File Checker tool, cannot solve the problem. If they do not resolve the problem, and the problem you are experiencing started occurring recently, you can use the System Restore tool. Using this tool, you can restore the computer to an earlier point in time.

    The tool using System Restore may not necessarily help you determine the problem. The System Restore tool uses points of restore to return the system files and settings to an earlier point in time. You can use it to restore the operating system to a point in time where you have not experienced the problem. When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

    To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    1. click on start toreduce this includes this image, type System Restore in the Search box, and then click System Restore in the programs list.

    Collapse this includes this image

    If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click continue.

    2. in the System Restore dialog box, click choose a different restore point, and then click Next.

    3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

    4. click on Finish.

    The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

    Hope that will solve your problem, please post back and let us know.

  • Remote Desktop area is missing the 'Remote' tab in the System Properties dialog box window?

    Remote Desktop area is missing the 'Remote' tab in the System Properties dialog box window? I can not set up or add users. Remote assistance is the ONLY settings and options that I see. It is a brand new OEM Vista Home Premium X 64 installation with all updates (SP2). That's the problem since it was first started.

    I'm sorry, but it is not possible to access Vista Home Premium via Remote Desktop.  To do this, you need Vista Business or Vista Ultimate.

    Hello again, here's the example as promised.

    To use the native filebrowse dialog box, the native code must run in its own thread to prevent the user interface in the Cascades to block. This is achieved by encapsulating all the dialog box code in a class derived from QThread.  The class I wrote is called FileBrowseDialog

    This class derives from QObject (by QThread) which means that it can be used by QML when it exposes properties and signals. The FileBrowseDialog class has 3 properties

    -multiple selection: a Boolean flag indicating if single or multiple selection is allowed

    -filepaths: a read only value that returns the list of files selected

    -Filters: a read/write value is where you can specify one or more filters to file (for example, ".doc", "*.jpg") etc.

    The next part is how you call the FileBrowseDialog through the QML. To do this, we must inform the QML of the FileBrowseDialog page. This is done in the App class via the qmlregistertype code.

    App.cpp

    #include
    #include
    #include

    #include "app.hpp"
    #include "FileBrowseDialog.hpp"

    using namespace bb::cascades;

    App::App()
    {
        qmlRegisterType("Dialog.FileBrowse", 1, 0, "FileBrowseDialog");
        QmlDocument *qml = QmlDocument::create("main.qml");
        qml->setContextProperty("cs", this);

        AbstractPane *root = qml->createRootNode();
        Application::setScene(root);
    }

    The QML is now ready to be able to use the FileBrowseDialog. The example below is a page complete qml which has a button and a label. When we click on the FileBrowseDialog button is open, and all selected files will appear in the label.

    Main.QML

    import bb.cascades 1.0
    import Dialog.FileBrowse 1.0

    Page {
        content: Container {
            Label { id: filebrowseDialogLabel }
            Button {
                text : "File Browse Dialog"
                onClicked: {
                    filebrowseDialog.show();
                }
            }
            attachedObjects: [
                FileBrowseDialog {
                    id: filebrowseDialog
                    multiselect : true
                    filters : ["*.doc","*.jpg","*.txt"]
                    onSelectionCompleted: {
                        if(filebrowseDialog.filepaths.length>0)
                            filebrowseDialogLabel.text = filebrowseDialog.filepaths[0];
                        else
                            filebrowseDialogLabel.text = "no file selected";
                    }
                    onSelectionCancelled: {
                        filebrowseDialogLabel.text = "file browse dialog was cancelled";
                    }
                }
            ]
        }
    }

    And it's pretty much just invoke the native dialog file navigation in stunts. Please note save the file would follow a similar model, but I found that this dialog box was not particularly useful because it displays only a simple dialogbox with a text file name entry.

    See you soon

  • No privileges for the user account

    Hey there,

    I have a strange problem and I'm not finding useful answers...

    I installed Windows 7 Pro on a box that is used as a file server, database server and the virtual machine host.

    Homegroup is disabled and password sharing is turned on. While I am trying to solve the problems, the firewall is disabled.

    To manage permissions on the various actions, I created a few accounts: media, phone, remote_admin.

    All three accounts have been removed from the 'Users' group so that they are not displayed on the logon page, and I used netplwiz to set my default account to connect automatically. Phone users and the media behave as expected, they have access to their respective shares, and the permissions are applied correctly. The problem happens with the user remote_admin.

    The user is a member of the Administrators group, interactive logon is disabled, so it can be used only for the administration of the network. Even if the account is a member of the Administrators group, I can't be able to access network shares. I can connect to the network and list of the actions available on the box, but each of them is denied access. I created a sharing with access explicitly for the Administrators group and made sure the permissions of file system corresponding, but I am still unable to access any of the actions. I tried the same thing with explicit access to the account and got the same results.

    Thinking it was a problem with the specific account, I deleted and recreated. Even without any modification of the authorisation, the account cannot access the network shares. After you re-create the account does not appear in managing accounts through Control Panel, but I'm able to see it in the accounts of users through computer management. In its default state, the account is allowed for a direct connection and can access the files on the disk, but cannot access the actions; during or remotely connected to the box.

    Any thoughts?

    * EDIT: I can not mark my own reply as an answer

    All permissions to the shares are refused to the Administrators group by the UAC. Deny it does not take precedence over those that are permitted explicitly to the user or another group, there are a number of solutions:

    (a) allow access to the user explicitly.

    (b) add the users to another group (not integrated) and allow access to it.

    (c) turn off UAC.

    (d) modify the registry to disable the restrictions placed on the Administrators group:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem\\\.

    Create or change the key called LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy (DWORD32) and set its value to 1.

    C and D above cause of the Administrators group to behave as it did in Windows XP. Access to shares default is restored (C$, D$ etc.). This also affects a number of other restrictions which have been implemented by the UAC as the driver installation and access to system folders.

    The main difference between options C and D is C will remove all restrictions of UAC to the machine, while D will only remove the restrictions applied to network access.

  • Showing the full path of the file in the Save as dialog box

    I'm a relatively new for MAC OS and I took the habit of intelligent services on Microsoft file manipulation, in particular to the Save as dialog box. Who has a little smart "arrows" and "buttons" allowing you to ask around the system of files easily, but I faced something else in the MAC operating system.

    Finally, I was able to pass on the path of file bar in the Finder (basically, that nice, small bar with the name of folders/sub-sub-sub-folders you can switch to and it shows "where you are both in the file system"), but I don't miss the Save as dialog box. I tried to find it in the settings to turn it on, scoured the internet, talked with experts at Apple, also called the central phone number, but I couldn't learn all solutions to get the bar path of file under tension to the Save as dialog box.

    And believe me, it's very annoying, when you create a file structure when you register under ' week/Tuesday/XY client Documents/work/approvals/journal/2016/August/2nd /' a file and for the recording of the version changed the same file under the same path, but not to not only return to the file a subfolder creation there AB of the customer, I have to click again through the whole lot.

    The arrows 'story' don't help because when I click on the it puts me directly to record under the folder where I have the last recorded the previous file, or help click on the drop-down above, where records are listed because I could never find the subfolder where I want to go back to there.

    Are there solutions to get the path of file under tension to the Save dialog box under?

    Or is there a plan to get it in the new version of the operating system?

    It is the same on the open file dialog box...

    ..., and I don't want to keep a Finder opens just to copy..., on the way to the record, which was the same effort and has been even more professional!

    I would like to just turn this simple file path bar,..., even that which is available in the Finder!

    Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks for sharing your thoughts in advance, Ian

    1 NO.

  • Need to access the user accounts from previous installations

    I am running Windows XP Pro, and I have installed new software.

    When I have it ran for the first time my PC crashed. Now, whenever I try to load it up it just keeps restarting before you get to the login screen. Safe mode does not help you, or doesn't last known good configuration. There is no recovery point recorded.

    I searched online for help and tried to repair the Windows version by inserting the CD and choose 'Repair', but there is no repair option. He wants me to install a new version of Windows on the partition, which, from what I understand, going to wipe my user accounts. It would be a big problem, as I have a lot of data out there that is very important for me who is not saved. My fault, still backward, etc. No not after the sympathy, just stating the facts!

    I also have Windows XP 64 is installed on a separate partition, and I loaded this up to see if I can see the user account I want to access. I can. But I can't access it because it is password protected, and it just comes up saying 'access denied '.

    So, how do I gain access to this user account? Doing anything to the working version of XP64, either by repairing the other partition inactive?

    All welcome, no matter how much of a long shot it is advice. I'm getting desperate!

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Malkeleah,

    I had real problems trying to get Knoppix to work. I downloaded on my laptop, then had to put on a USB key to burn on the PC with Win 64 on (portable DVD player is read-only), but I couldn't do burn. I kept of burning errors using the built-in burner after first unpacking the ISO on the laptop (no support ISO native in Windows XP), or when I tried to install on win 64 the system burning software I got error messages saying: the software wouldn't run as soon as I clicked to install it. And Yes, I checked that I was using the software compatible 64-bit! No idea what it was, the 64-bit version has never really been used, not even well why it is installed.

    In any case, after that much hitting my head on the office followed a couple of pints in pubs, I managed to find another way around this problem, which was to take ownership of the files according to the instructions on the Microsoft Web site:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx/KB/308421

    It worked wonderfully for me, and I have been able to support Windows 64-bit, re - install XP 'normal' and then appropriated again under that. 2 files come with errors and would not sell the property, but they were not even remotely important if everything is good. I got literally thousands of other files that flies over without any problems.

    In any case, thank you for taking the time to help me, I'm sure that your method would have worked if I had been able to create a CD (I would have posted off the coast for one if everything else has failed because they will send one in the world for any $2 IIRC), but for someone else who did a search and found my ad the above that I mention is worth a go as an alternative method.

    And no, I didn't have the encrypted files. Just locked the account of some simple password protection.

    Thanks again,

    Chris.

  • Need to change the name of the administrator under the folder of the user account

    I just got a new HP laptop with Windows Vista 64 SP1. My friend who got the laptop I use a nickname that I hate it when he set up the computer for which it was not supposed to do in the first place. I went to the section control panel user accounts control and changed the name of the administrator account. I have only the administrator account on my computer with the guest account. That part worked.

    My problem is that, under C:/Users / (username), it still shows that hated nickname. I want to change the name of this folder, but cannot understand how or if it's possible. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance

    As you have discovered, you cannot change a user account by simply changing the name. That will be a change cosmetic only and none of the files/folders real profile will be changed. Follow the instructions below to fix things to your liking and to implement correctly under Vista user accounts.

    1. create the new user account (named as desired) as a * standard * (not administrator) account and at least one additional account with administrative privileges. Call the extra account 'CompAdmin', 'Tech' or similar.

    2. Enter the new user account once if the profile files are created, and then disconnect and then connect to CompAdmin.

    3. go in Control Panel > system > advanced > user profile > settings

    4. you will see where you can copy user accounts. Copy the misnamed old account to the new name correctly there. Use her browse to select your new account (C:\Users\newaccount). If you don't want to copy all the settings, and then instead simply navigate using the old user, music Explorer Windows Documents, etc. and copy the data to the new user folders.

    5. connect to your new correctly named user account. When you are sure to have what you need, you can delete the misnamed control panel user account > accounts to users if you wish.

    General information about configuring users in Vista:

    You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. As XP and all the other modern operating systems, Vista is an OS multi-user with system built-in accounts such as administrator, by default, all users and guest. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

    In particular, you do not want one account user with administrative privileges on Vista because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult. It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but it will take third-party tools and work outside the operating system.

    The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. If your normal user account is an administrator, having created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

    If you want to go directly to the desktop and ignore the Welcome screen with the icons of the user accounts, you can do this:

    Start Orb > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
    Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

    Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

  • Cannot type the password in the user account control prompt after activation of the hidden admin account.

    Original title: where to type the password of the user account control?

    I have a problem of user account control is it said to type an administrator password, but there is nowhere to type in it. I can't access anything on my computer because there is a password. My computer does not have an administrator account and I can not activate the administrator hidden with UAC on because I can't type the password. Where to enter it?

    Hello

    System Restore can probably help.

    To restore the system from DVD

    a. start the computer from the Windows installation disc

    b. Windows will automatically run the disk is empty, and will load the files; This can take some time. The

    c. Windows Vista install will begin charging.

    d. now, select your installation language, time and currency Format, and keyboard type and then click "NEXT" to continue.

    e. in the next screen click 'Repair your computer' to continue. Windows will now search an Installations of Windows.

    f. on the next screen, select the operating system on which you want to do a repair. Select it, and then press 'NEXT' to continue

    g. you are now in the menu "Recovery Options.

    h. in the 'Recovery Options' menu select 'SYSTEM RESTORE'.

    i. the menu "Restore files and settings" is displayed, click 'NEXT' to continue. Now in a 'Restore Points' selection select one that you want to restore too. Then click "NEXT" to continue. You are now given an option to restore the other disks as well as the operating system drive. If you have no problem with them, then just restore the main drive.

    j. now, you will need to confirm the restore point. Click "FINISH" to continue or "BACK" to select another drive or restore point. You are now prompted one last time to confirm that you want to continue. Click 'YES' to continue or 'NO' to select a different drive or restore point.

    k. 'System Restore' will boot now.

    System Restore will now restore files, finalize the restoration.

    Once this done, tell whether she succeeded it, if so click "RESTART" to restart the computer, if it's not then try a different date.

    Once rebooted and you get on the desktop, you will receive a confirmation of the success of restorations. Click 'CLOSE' to continue.
