  • Can recovery and/or password reset disk data stored on temporarily on a hard drive.

    People,

I am volunteer non-professionals that keeps about 8 computers churches.  Right now they are a mixture of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.  I want to do a reset disk and recovery password for each of them.  My problem is the cost of all readers USB flash (thumb) that would be required.  If I understand the process will automatically delete all data on the USB flash drives and can take up to 32 GB.

Anyone know if the drive reset or recovery can be created by using a USB key and then the transferred data from the USB on a NAS hard disk temporary storage (as well as the data for all other computers).  Then, if the data are required, can he be transferred back to a USB flash drive to use in recovery or reset?  My goal is to buy 1 flash drive rather than 8.

I looked for this specific information in a variety of places but have not found or he didn't understand.  I'm not positive that install, upgrade and activate is the best subject, but I found a few preliminary questions related to the creation of recovery media this subject so I start here.

    Thanks for your help,

    Bill

    Hi Bill,

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

I would like to inform you that you can create the system recovery disk and save them to your external hard drives like filesystem image. See the support article below

    What is a system image?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/what-is-a-system-image

System images created as explained above will have an exact copy of your hard disk at the time the image was taken. So you can use it to recover your PC in case if there are problems

    Hope this information helps.

  • password reset disk

I have two computers in my house. Anxiety is a HP Pavillion entertainment laptop model.

A short while back, we had to reset the computer to the configuration when we bought it.  Reset us the password to get into windows, which was easy to remember.  Today, the password screen refuses every password that we could possibly use.  There is only a password reset hypertext, but it requires that we should have previously done a reset disk.  I remember reading that a reset disk was a requirement.  Can I do a reset disk of the computer that I can get from the info on the laptop.

    Thank you

    Hello jamspar,

You are not able to connect to the computer, you get the message that the password is incorrect.

You can try a system restore (by entering F11at start) back until you have changed the password and then try to connect again.

You can use the keyboard on the screen to make sure that the keyboard is not give the wrong answer.

You can run a recovery by pressing F11 at startup upward. This will allow you to connect in the computer, but you will not be able to view all the files on the computer.

Let me know if it helps.

  • system won't take my user name, says password insert password reset disk

don't have a password reset disk

    Hello

    You can try the following.

Shut down the PC.  Tap away at f8 that you start the PC to enter the Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select Safe mode and press ENTER.  If windows will load in this mode, on the Start Menu, click principally made programs, click Accessories, click System Tools and run the system restore.  Choose a restore point at least 24 hours prior to the issue of logon and then proceed to the restoration.  When you are finished, Windows will restart as normal in order to check if you can now connect correctly.

Another option if the above does not help is as follows.

Shut down the laptop.  Tap away at f8 that you start the laptop to enter the Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select "Start using last good known Configuration" and press ENTER.

If the two proposals above do not help, try using a request for reset password such as the free utility on the link below.

  • Password reset disk error - "year error occurred while the wizard attempted to set the password for this user account.

    Hello!

-A bit of background: the desktop PC that I use is Windows Vista Ultimate Edition, with active user accounts total five. I have my own account, and I can access the computer through (or through account from my brother, because I know its password).--

I had this problem recently came where the administrator password (that I know for a long time and never changed) no longer works. So, after some research, I created a reset password on a USB disk, that I found in my house. I managed to create the disc, but when I tried to put the new password, I got the message error "an error occurred while the wizard attempted to set the password for this user account', which I must say is not very clear. I found a few methods of force - reset the password for the account of the admin, as using a sort of Windows Vista DVD or go to Safe Mode to find the hidden administrator account... but I have no idea what this DVD is or where to find, and in Safe Mode, there is no account user administrator to be seen. I believe that my machine is corrupted, but I don't want to buy a new. I want just to reset a password...

Any help is appreciated. If I was not specific enough, I can specify in comments.

    Thank you!

    Hello

You must make a password reset disk before that there are problems with a password, not afterwards.

If you are unable to connect to Windows 7 or Windows Vista, you can use the Windows Vista System Restore feature, or the Windows 7 system restore feature.

You may be unable to connect to Windows Vista or Windows 7 in the following scenarios:

    • Scenario 1: You recently set a new password for the protected administrator account. However, you don't remember the password.
    • Scenario 2: You type the correct password. However, Windows Vista or Windows 7 does not accept the password because the system is damaged.
    • Scenario 3: You delete a protected administrator account. Now, you cannot connect to another administrator account.
    • Scenario 4: You change an administrator account protected with a standard user account. Now, you cannot connect to another administrator account.

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

    Hello

There is a difference between "deleted" and forgotten, as the particular user account is password protected or it is not.

If this is not applicable and you forgot, you need to reinstall the operating system.

    Hi all

I tried to put a password for my laptop but I can't, he says that I have to take something away from UBS even I don't have nothing put on

do you know if I can solve this problem?

    Hi romio,.

Please specify. To set a password for your Win8 machine, under the "user account" in Control Panel you will need to click on 'Make changes to my account in the computer setting' and from there, you will be able to set a password for your laptop under the sign "in the options.

'Create a password reset disk' for you the machine is a fail safe for you in case you have forgotten the password of your machine. In this case, it will take a recovery password and this will require a USB flash drive to create the recovery.

    I hope this helps.
