OLD library heavy iPhoto to time photo capsule

Hello

I have 2 iPhoto library on my time capsule. I've now updated to OS X El Capitan. How can I transform or reopened my iPhoto Library to my time capsule. Before is was easy with ALT. But now, when he wanted to transform my Photo library is blocked. 185 f for a library for info.

Thks a lot

You need to move (copy) the iPhoto libraries on your system drive, another internal drive or an external drive, you can then open the pictures by holding down ⌥ while launching the application and selecting the affected library.

  • Photos say too old version after restoring from Time Machine

I tried to update my wife 5 c's iPhone but iTunes (version 12.4.3.1) kept saying unknown error (-50). I read that a possible problem might be something on an xml file in the pictures with a conflict or missing. I thought that this might be a good time to try my first restore with Time Machine. I thought I would restore Photos only a few hours of this day. While I was doing that in the middle of the restore, Time Machine was trying to make it's hourly backup and I got an exclamation point saying that he was unable to save. After the backup is complete, I tried to open the pictures and it says "library old Version, please update your library 'Photos' using iPhoto free library upgrade available at Apple. So I downloaded the file .dmg and still nothing. I don't want even if an earlier version of Photos, I want to what I had and I thought of making a time Machine would be restore was supposed to get back to how I had it. My Time Machine works again but the new backup, he's trying to back up my photo library. I know because I recognize the size of the backups as being the same size as my library of Photos. I went about this Mac and checked the storage. He showed my disk as empty and my regular hard drive on my Macbook Pro (retina 13 "- beginning 2015") showed use of backup almost exactly the same size as my library of Photos. A few moments later my external drive shows correct usage, but big backup on my regular HD space always shows the same backup use suggesting that it stores my library as a backup, or at least that's my guess. One thing that I tried was the Option key pressed when opening pictures to try to select another library that I have an old migrated iPhotos library in my folder of photos I thought that maybe Photos was trying to open. As a side question I was wondering if I could remove the migrated iPhotos library as whenever I click on it, more or less said that he has already been migrated, he discovers in a compatible version of Photos. I hope that I have given all the good news. If I'm missing something I apologize. I'm under El Captain 10.11.6

What did restore exactly the time Machine? You write "Restore Photos", indicating you restored the Photos app, but the error messages seem to apply to the photo library.  You have restored a library of old Photos?  If you restored the photo library, try to open it directly by double clicking it or dragging it to the Photos icon in the Dock.

  • Time Machine iPhotos restored in Photos

Hi, I'm going to make a long story short.  I have old iPhotos I would like to restore from time machine, but when I try to restore it on Photos in el capitan I can't because they were recorded under iPhotos and now iPhotos is disabled. I have no way to restore the iPhotos App.  How can I get the old iPhotos to time machine photos?  Thank you!

Restore the library normally, launch Photos with the key Option key, click library and choose it.

  • how get the iPhoto in new Photos app library?

While the installation of El Capitan, iPhoto has been uninstalled and I find no more photos, I had (thousands of them) in the new Photos app. How can I recover the previous iPhoto library into the new application Photos? Right now I feel I've lost memories for many years.

    Thank you.

1 - iPhoto has not been uninstalled by the upgrade to El Captain - it is always in your applications folder and works fine (you do not have the current version 9.6.1 - if you do not keep your software up to see date cannot update iPhoto because it is not available in the App Store )

2 - the first time you launch Photos it should migrate the last iPhoto library used in the pictures - if it is not, or if you want to migrate additional libraries simply do them dragging the Photos icon in the dock - migration details, see How Photos handles content and metadata for iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support

  • ICloud using photo library for the first time

I am considering switching to iCloud photo library for the first time - mainly so I'll be able to use the new functionality of memories in iOS 10. However, I have quite a large library of Photos on my Mac and I'm worried about the mistakes of synchronization, bugs and any damage my irreplaceable photos. I have a Time Machine backup, but each backup on which generally only lasts a week or so, and with a large library of errors can take some time to appear. Should I be worried? Are there precautions I need to take?

In view of all the people who use it, there are very few messages on issues. Since you have a backup, you can still recover. You can consider to get a 2nd external and make a copy of your photo library in order to have 2 backups. Depending on the size of your library, you may need to purchase additional iCloud storage as free storage space is 5 GB. With a large number of photos, it will take much time to complete the synchronization. Some people have posted their s took 2 to 4 weeks. Our respective synchronization went well and we had no problem.

  • IPhoto locked since November external disk library can access all my photos?

IPhoto locked since November external disk library can access all my photos? It must have been during the upgrade of the OS when forced to use the Photos Application (instead of iPhotos) now on OS X El Capitan 10.11.3. The iPhoto library is 280.4 GB and when I click on get info it says 'you have personalized access' under sharing and permissions. I tried to use iPhoto and photo to open. I'm stuck. Someone please save me. All my family photos with children. My wife will kill Me!

You were not forced, like many other people you might have chosen to continue to use iphoto if you wanted to. Who said that you you couldn't.

Now, how is the drive 'locked '.

  • Time space capsule from the OLD account not released after deleting account...

Help!  I had an old installation 'account' on the Time Capsule for tim machine backups.  The account has been using more than 2.5 TB of the available 3 TB and causing all backups to fail without space.  The machine which was supported until the account had a HDD 500 GB while it was difficult to understand how he was taking so much room so fast.  I finally understood that the .inprogress file has not been cleaned and had leftovers backups.   I tried everything to remove/reset it but nothing worked so I finally just deleted the account on the Time Capsule via airport Util expecting that all space used by that account would be released - but no, it wasn't.  Now all space is exhausted and I can't seem to find a way to connect to the root drive or to somehow be cleaned and released!

How to solve this without losing the backups of the other accounts that share this time Capsule for their respective Time Machine backups?

  • I can't erase old library?

Is the duplication of the old library system, I can erase (to save HARD disk space)?

    Thank you

Photos will create a new library, but the old iPhoto Library and photo library are brewed very efficiently by using hard links. The original Master of the files and previews are stored in the same blocks on the disk, so the storage will not increase much.

See: Photo stops disk space to share images with your iPhoto or Aperture - Apple Support libraries

You can delete the iPhoto library, but it will not free storage as long as the same photos are also Photos.  I would wait until you have checked if the migration went well and keep a backup copy of the original library.

Rename your backup library in order to take account of the original, and then delete the original.

FYI: Identification will facilitate a slightly different name.

  • iPhoto will not Photos import, how can I recover my files?

My iPhoto library cannot be imported in Photos. When I go into the import function, cannot select the iPhoto library. So, I tried to just open my Finder iPhoto library, and that does not work either. I have thousands of photos in this library I can access is no longer, how can I get back them?

There are no import involved. You simply open the iPhoto with the Photos.app library

Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch Photos. In the menu that appears, select "Choose Library"

  • What happens to iCloud library after you restore the old library on Mac?

I have known problems with iDevices displaying thousands of 'new' images, even if they are all already in the library of Photos on Mac and on iCloud photo library, I posted on here also.

Through the various attempts to stop these 'new' photos to reappear again and again, I found myself with several copies of the thousands of images in the pictures on Mac and therefore in iCloud (i.e. they synchronized). Rather than go to the library and find it manually and remove these duplicates, I would just return the photo via Time Machine library to its prior state of duplicates. After I restored the local library there will be no duplicates and have much less images than what is in the iCloud, photo library.

    My question:

'Local library restored' rule and the iCloud library will correspond to the now smaller local library? Or all of the duplicate to my local library files will be synchronized? Put an another passerby, did restore Time Machine also "informed" (impact) the library to match the local library restored iCloud?

Restores the local library AND remove all images in iCloud and then re-upload a 20 K library to iCloud the only way?

    Thanks in advance.

First, you will need to erase your iCloud library in iCloud, I'm afraid, Pope, prior to activating the library restored as a your photo library system.

I only tested once. After the restoration of the library of Time Machine, the library was no longer recognized as the photo library of the system, even in the same location on disk. That caused the iCloud photo library to deal with the library as an additional library must be downloaded to iCloud. The library was merged to the existing library, so older duplicates have been removed.

  • I turned on my icloud photo library, but not download my photos and videos. Don't I have the wrong settings on my iphone? I also chose upload for my photo stream.

iPhone 5 c with the current operating system.

turned on icloud library in settings.

    photos/videos will not download.

    Have I not bad settings?

I also chose upload for my photo stream.

    Any ideas?

What do you mean "they don't download", exactly what is happening.

If you use the library of iCloud photo flow Gallery becomes hidden. Is there a reason to activate the photo stream.

Unfortunately not - it must be done one at a time.
