Open a new tab in fact opens a new window

I updated Firefox to 29 a few hours ago, and it causes a lot of problems. I've just restored to ffx 28, but it does not solve everything. One thing that's happened, it's that when I open a new tab at the top that looks like a second tab, but when you look down the toolbar, you see that there are actually two Windows Open ffx. If you hover over the icon ffx (I'm running Windows 7), two windows pop up. This happened six hours ago. He came with ffx 29, but do not go far with demotion to 28. It's really annoying. I'd rather have tabs grouped within windows. For the most part, I have a window open with all my tabs in it, but other times I want to have several tabs in each of the different windows several, because this organization works for me. How can I get rid of this?

You can check the following parameter:

the button Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) > Options > tabs

Is the last box: "show glimpses of tab in the Windows task bar.

I am sure that you must uncheck that and it should solve your problem.

Success?

  • project sporadically opens in a new window, instead of the tab

    Hello

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I was not able to find this on the Internet or on this forum topic. I apologize in advance if it has been resolved.

I have always go and often open my projects in my office.

When I was Captivate 6.0, he would open a window and then, for each project, it would open a tab.

After the update to Captivate 8, everytime I open a project, Captivate is still open in a separate/new window for each project!

Is there a way to tell Captivate to ALWAYS OPEN NEW PROJECT in the current window, but the different tab?

I tried to open a project in the menu bar (file > open > Select project), and still, it opens in a new window.

    Thank you for your time.

    Eric

    Hi Eric

In fact, I'm rather surprised to hear that any version of Captivate would simply open projects recurrence in the same instance, but in different tabs. New windows are what I fully expect if the plans to open by double-clicking them just from the office.

I would never advise people to function in this way. My personal opinion is to open by Captivate to open first, then using the file > open (or Ctrl + O in Lilybiri jobs).

If you feel that it must operate differently, please consider filing a bug report using the link below.

  • Sometimes by selecting an existing tab will lead to open in a new window. Why?

Firefox browser runs and have a Yahoo homepage and another tab in this window with Yahoo mail. Sometimes have other tabs open in the same window as well. Sometimes, when you move (switching) from one tab to the other tab that I pass will open in a new window itself, rather than stay in the original window. Why does this happen? Please look at the problem.

Make sure that you do not drag a tab slightly downwards in the browser window by clicking.
The current versions of Firefox have a feature called tabs.
You can detach a tab in the current window and open in a new window by dragging a tab in the browser window.
You can also do this via the context menu of a tab: switch to the new window
You can drag the tab to the tab bar in the original window to cancel this detachment.

  • the tab that opens a new tab is absent, I can't open a new window to do anything.

I can open links in a new window, everything seems to work properly. But if I want to just open a new tab to go somewhere new this is not there anymore. I tried to use an "improvement of the tab" addon but don't like it then I disabled (Tree Style Tab).

You can open a new tab by middle-click of free space on the tab bar?

Try clicking on default settings in the Customize palette.

Open the Customize and set the toolbar to display items.

    • button '3-bar' menu > customize
    • If the missing elements are in the palette to customize then drag them back into the window to customize the toolbar
    • If you don't see an item on a toolbar in the Customize palette, then click the Reset default button to restore the default toolbar configuration

Some Images open in a new window or tab are backwards or rotates 90 degrees, but they appear in the correct position when you use Internet EXPLORER.

I don't even know if it's a browser or a browser-server interaction problem. The problem manifests a certain user forums where members post jpg images that appear as thumbnails. "I can right-click and select"Open in new window"or open in a new tab. Either way some images open OK, some open pivot 90 degrees out of position sometimes upside down. If I use Internet EXPLORE the same images will open on the right side.

Not in bold. Looks like this:
    Layout.CSS.image - orientation.enabled; true
    Status: default
    Boolean type

Laughing out loud! But if I double-click on it replaces:
    Layout.CSS.image - orientation.enabled; false
    Set of users of status
    Boolean type

Now when I right-click the image and select either "open in new tab" or "open in new window" the image is right-side up!

    Thanks to you all!

  • Open a new tab opens a new tab and new window in double - how can this be corrected?

When a new tab is opened (by any method-'ctrl t' etc - a new tab opens, but also a new window which is a duplicate of the window active.) Assistance to resolve this would be most appreciated.

Please try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • Click the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. This might help others with the same problem.

  • When I open a new tab, a new window opens

I used to be able to open multiple tabs in the same window of Firefox. Now, every time I click on a link or access an external link hyper, a new window opens instead of a new tab in the existing window.

Browser.Link.open_newwindow has the value of integer type and a value of 3.

It seems not to matter. The problem persists. I don't want to do a refresh or uninstall and reinstall a new copy. What can I do to fix this? As I said, it has never been this way before and it seems to have started to happen out of nowhere.

Try to set browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external 3 as well.

Have you checked your extensions (associate tab)?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

  • Can I configure Firefox to ALWAYS open a new WINDOW instead of a tab? I used to be able to do and hate using the tabs!

    Mac desktop computer.

Yes, or you can right-click and select "Open in New Window ' or change this option in the Firefox settings:

    1. Go to the topic: preferences and uncheck the box under the tabs 'open new window in a new tab only '.

  • How can I change "open new window" tab behavior?

I used to be a long time Firefox user and then switch to Chrome for a while. Come back now, and I notice some strangeness with tabs and "new windows". Can't understand how to work around.

My "Home Page" is set up to open three tabs. A MSN, the second is my email, and the third is Google Calendar. It works fine, except...

    (1) if I choose 'New window' (Ctrl-N), it re-opens those same three tabs. When I open a new window, I don't want to reopen these three tabs. They are already open in the main window. How can I stop Firefox to do this? I can't find a way to get there.

    (2) the other door on the 'Home' button If I push the home button it loads all three of these tabs. In Chrome, there is another parameter for the 'home' vs the tabs start button. Is it possible to replicate this? Sometimes I hit the home button only to load MSN. I don't want all three of these tabs when I hit the home button. Any way around this?

    Danke.

    It is not possible.
A new window opens to the home page (s), so you should set the home page to about: blank or create a bookmark to the defined location: virgins and hold the Shift key and left click to open this page in a new window.

You can add these three pages to the command-line of the desktop shortcut to open the page when you start Firefox Firefox.

  • You want to open links in a new tab, not a new window.

When using a mouse, I know I can middle-click (wheel) and I'm clicking on the link will open in a new tab. I also know that I can drag this link to the sign on the tabs bar + and it will open. But when you use the keyboard only, when I want to open a Web page link in a new tab, it always opens in a new window, why?

I noticed when looking at the support of Mozilla that hit any box opens in a new tab (this is the effect I want) why is it not the case on other Web pages?

I can answer my own question here, but would it be the site of "NewsNow" one which is causing my problem?

As I wrote above, that the tabs setting only applies to links that have a specified target window.
You can click on the link and the code in the Inspector.

If there is a button 'ev' Annex then, it means that JavaScript events are related to the link.

  • Add it to the opening of new windows in a new tab in the same window

I use a software that opens the Scheduler in a new window. I have in the past had an add on which enabled the new window to open in the original window in a new tab. Add it on disappeared when I refresh Fire Fox but I don't remember the name of the add element on. Thank you.

Have you checked the settings in the Options/Preferences > tabs?

For links opened via JavaScript, you can watch this pref:

  • Disable tabs open in a new window

I have the option "show my windows and tabs from last time ', but I would like to only the tabs of the last closed window, then when I start firefox, I get my last tabs of my"last sitting"and when I create a new window using ctrl + N, I have just a blank page waiting to be used, instead of a bunch of tabs , I opened the other session x.

A new window opens with the Home page (s), so if several pages open in a new window, check the homepage.

    • Tools > Options > general > startup: Homepage

Firefox supports several home pages separated by ' |' symbol (pipe).

  • I pinned tabs but they don't open when I open a new window? Permenantly pinned tabs that open when you open the browser is something that is so simple and usefu

It should not necessarily be a "pin", but I wonder how to keep one eye permanently there everytime I open a new browser, as they appear.

Pinned tabs are related to a specific window and you can have a different game in each window.
You have to re-create the tabs pinned, if you want in a new window, possibly by the bookmarks in a folder (to bookmark all tabs) or set them as many home pages (a new window opens with the home pages).
Maybe there is an extension that allows to open newly opened tabs pinned in windows, so you can search the Addons site.

  • My tabs still open in a new window, even after the deselection of this option, how to fix this?

Whenever I try to load a new tab in the same window, Firefox opens a new window. I went through the process of de-selection 'open tabs in a new window', but it does not work. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled, but no difference.

There are two common reasons for this problem:

    (1) site uses a script that launches the window, and there parameters such as height and width, or restrictions such as no scroll bar. In these cases, Firefox assumes it's a dialog box associated with the page and always use a new window. (Is there a substitution for that I will mention later.)

    (2) if the page you are looking at is in a dialog, Firefox is perhaps not ready to open a new tab in this window. Usually in this case the tab bar is missing or does not have the button «+» But if you open a new window using Ctrl + n and then links should work normally.

To force same scripted popups in a tab, you can change a setting under the covers.

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste link.o and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) in this case, see zero adjustment (B). The others are here for future reference:

    (A) browser.link.open_newwindow

3 = divert new window into a new tab (by default) (checked *)
2 = allow the link to open a new window (uncontrolled *)
1 = new power window in the same tab

    * First check box in the Options > tabs

    (B) browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction -for links in Firefox tabs

0 = apply the setting under (A) to all new windows (same script)
2 = apply the setting under (A) for normal windows, but NOT for windows script with characteristics (default)
1 = override the setting under (A) and always use new windows

    (C) browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external -for links in other programs

-1 = apply the setting under (A) external links (default)
3 = open external links in a new tab in the last active window
2 = open external links in a new window
1 = open external links in the last active tab replaces the current page
