Open a new tab, mystery browser opens

I put in my Google home page. When I open Firefox, it goes to Google. However, when I open a new tab, I'm lab.search.conduit.com. At honey Boo boo MOM pix and shit like that. Anyone know what I can do to get rid of this? Is it as simple as executing my programmes of virus and malware?

You can open the topic: config page through the address bar and to search for the prefs that refer to led and reset associated user defined prefs ("BOLD") through the context menu on the default value.

If you do not keep the changes after a reboot or have problems with preferences, see:

You can check in "Windows Control Panel > programs ' for the recently installed programs to see if anything of Conduit or any suspicious software as protect search appears.

  • Control Panel > programs > programs and features > uninstall or change a program

With Firefox 41 (and later versions), it is no longer possible to customize the

  • When I open a new tab, I don't want to appear on the top, help me

I remove the tick in the settings but I don't have this problem
When I open a new tab in my bookmarks toolbar, that it must be on top.

Do you mean when you Ctrl + click a bookmark (or use the right click > open in a new tab), you want the tab to load quietly in the background without switching to it right away? There is a hidden for this parameter.

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press enter/return. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste the tabs and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double click on the preference browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground to put the default value false true - line should be "BOLD"

    If you test, change work?

Since there are a number of similar sounding preferences, here is my understanding when they apply:

    • browser.tabs.loadInBackground = > when you open a regular link in a new tab using Ctrl + click (or right click > open in a new tab)

      • default = true, do not have the new active tab
      • In the page Options dialog box, this is controlled by him "when I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately" setting.
    • Browser.Tabs.Load InBackground ofdiversion = > when divert you a new window generated by script in a new tab using Ctrl + click, or a page using the link target attribute in a new launcher and divert you a new tab

      • default = false, activate the new tab
    • Browser.Tabs.LoadFavoritesInBackground = > when you load a bookmark in a new tab using Ctrl + click (or right click > open in a new tab)

      • default = false, activate the new tab
  • Since Google Inbox or Gmail on Mac OS x using command-click to open a link in a new tab incorrectly brings this new tab to the front.

Same action on any other site works very well and opens a new page in a new tab without bringing it to the front. You are looking for if there is a setting that needs to be adjusted or if it's something weird with functioning Google Inbox and Gmail. Would love to get this sort. Thank you!

I think the address of other preferences, named in a similar way, most of the other situations:

    • browser.tabs.loadInBackground = > when you open a regular link in a new tab using Ctrl + click (or right click > open in a new tab)

      • default = true, do not have the new active tab
      • In the page Options dialog box, this is controlled by him "when I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately" setting.
    • Browser.Tabs.Load InBackground ofdiversion = > when divert you a new window generated by script in a new tab using Ctrl + click

      • default = false, activate the new tab
    • Browser.Tabs.LoadFavoritesInBackground = > when you load a bookmark in a new tab using Ctrl + click (or right click > open in a new tab)

      • default = false, activate the new tab
  • Option tabs do not implicitly open link in a new tab fails

I left the entry Options tabs "when I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately" unset.

Correctly, when I click with the right button on a link and choose open in a new tab opens the link and focus explicitly does not commute.

Wrong, when I click on a link and it is implicitly opened in another tab switches immediately to the new tab

browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground is probably set to false. If you set this to true, it should fix it. (I know that she is an alumna of the week, but may as well this post just in case someone else sees it or you do not have fixed). I had the same problem (central of the mouse did not change but left mouse done, etc.) and that fixed it.

  • How to make a new tab opened as my homepage designated instead of viewing several pages of courses or a blank page? I don't want top sites or a cache

I tried the suggested enter config in the address bar, etc, but for the next step "at the top of the screen is a bar of research." there is no search bar.

Hi, at the moment, you can type on: config in the address bar, press ENTER, agree to remove the warning, scroll down to browser.newtab.url and 'Value' on: newtab or on: vacuum and enter the URL of the site you want to use, or if you want the Firefox Start Page, enter on: House (right click > edit) to change). You will then need to restart Firefox. - Editor of Configuration of Firefox.

Note, however, that of 41 of Firefox, you will need to use the add-on, new tab override (browser.newtab.url replacement) to make changes.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

  • The upgrade to 43.0.1 broken new tab override ext. It will be corrected?

I want my new tab to open the page (site) I want. Not a page of icons. First of all, we have lost the ability to use 'talk, com' to do this. Now 43.0.1 broke the extension "ignore new tab."

I see I'm not the only one who wants that. Please correct.

  • CTRL-left click goes to the new tab

I don't know what happened but I have not changed the settings and now my Firefox guard opening new tabs and pass to them even if "When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately" is unchecked in the settings and the browser.tabs.loadInBackground and services.sync.prefs.sync.browser.tabs.loadInBackground are set to true in the subject: config. I also tried the extension "Switch to tab no more" and it does not work. I have no idea what caused my browser to act this way, but it's pretty frustrating.

It depends on whether the link is designed to stay in the same tab or open a new window. Firefox has a distinct preference for each, and only the 'same tab' is on the Options page.

    This gives a test:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press enter/return. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste the tabs and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    Who help me?

Browser.newtab.URL has been set to my homepage and worked for centuries. Now, suddenly, it opens on a white page. setting of browser.newtab.URL is not chanhed - it is always set to the home page, but does not open it.

Hi, 41 of Firefox, you must use the add-on tab override (browser.newtab.url replacement), to make changes to the page tab.

Once installed, open the Add-ons (Ctrl + Shift + A) Manager > Extensions, and then look for the new tab override and click Options to set your preference.

Notice, if you want only the new tab to be the same as your home page, you can use the Add on new tab homepage instead.

You will then need to restart Firefox for all changes to take effect.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

  • Why is it so hard to get this browser to simply open new tabs in google?

Google is defined as home page under general settings, Google is in the browsernewtab.url, Include suggested sites is unchecked, and this thing opens nevertheless each new tab to this darn annoying screen with tiles everywhere. This ignorance began once the Fire Fox has been updated (41.0) before he did exactly as I wanted it? I will never understand how to complete this task in an IE browser, simply type in "options". Where as with your browser, it takes an act of God squirrels to do something so simple. What gives?

Fortunately, the divine intervention is not necessary.

41 of Firefox is no longer uses the browser.newtab.url setting in about: config because he was constantly attacked by malware. From 41 of Firefox, you need an add-on to change the new tab page.

Here are a few options (I'm learning more all the time):

    • If you are already using the extension classic restaurateur theme: There is an option somewhere (!) in his dialogues of the parameters to select another page in the new tab.

    Setting up substitute again tab

After installing this extension, you must use the Options page to set the new desired tab page (instead of use subject: config).

Open the page modules using either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a (Mac: Cmd + shift + a)
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the side right, find the new tab override and click the Options button. (See first screenshot attached).

Depending on the size of your screen, you may need to scroll down to enter the address in the form. (See second screenshot attached). For example:

    • (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
    • Blank tab = > subject: empty
    • Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
    • Any other page = > full URL of the page

Then tab or click this form field and you can test using Ctrl + t.

    Success?

Once you have set it as you wish, you can close the Add-ons page (or use the back button to return to the list of Extensions of this Options page).

  • Why you put "Open a new tab" on the right side of the browser, when you close a tab on the left and you type a new URL in the browser on the left?

I changed my computer from XP to Windows 7 and migrated my FF browsers. But... now the tabs at the top of the page are all right (they were upper-front left - where I loved her)

The most important is the "open a new tab" + - is on the right. But that is not sensible. Why you put "Open a new tab" on the extreme right of the browser, when you close a tab on the left and you type a new URL in the browser on the left?

How can I put my "open a new tab" immediately to the right of 'Close tab' - as if it was before?

    Please advise?

Try clicking on "Restore default settings" in the palette to customize to reset the toolbar customization.

    • Firefox '3-bar' menu button > customize
    • View > toolbars > customize

    You can attach a screenshot?

    • Use a type of compressed as PNG or JPG image to save the screenshot
    • Make sure you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB
  • When I open the Firefox browser, as well as my homepage of opening, a new tab opens in the same time, how can I stop this please?

This problem has only just begun and I don't know why. When I click the icon to open the Firefox browser, my homepage tab opens and another new tab opens to the sides of my Home Page tab. I checked and none are tube not characters in my address of the home page.

This seems to take place (e.g., Firefox opens my home page AND a new tab at startup - unsolved).

In case one of your extensions is in question, could test you mode without failure of Firefox? It is a standard diagnostic tool to disable some advanced features of Firefox and extensions. More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Mode safe help

Help > restart with disabled modules (Flash and other plugins still works)

In the dialog box, click on 'Start mode safe' (not Reset)

Any difference when using the Home key or open a new window (Ctrl + n)?

  • How to open a new tab after the current browsing session.

I used to use the new King of the tab, and when I opened a new tab, it would still open the new tab the very right of my session, the gap and not somewhere randomly in the middle. However, I wanted my restored windows to open where I had closed my session. I've since changed to use the new tab more instead and it worked the same way before, but since I've updated for firefox 26, he seems to have reset this option (and others), it opens in the middle of the session now instead of the end.

I don't know what you mean by the middle of the session.

Do you mean in the middle of the bar tabs in the current window? There is a setting to make it open a link in a new tab adjacent to the page where you clicked on the link, or always at the end of the tab bar. If this is what you mean, here's how you can activate:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste the tabs and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent from true to false.

But I'm not sure that's what you hear... also, extensions can replace Firefox built-in behaviors with their own settings tab.
