Opening a catalog

When you attempt to open an if two catalogs (two catalogs are closed when you try to open one of them), I get a message saying that LR cannot open the catalog because another is already open and to close the open catalog. As I said before, no book is opened.

Hi mikeg16006431,

There will be a file with .lock extension in the same place as your catalog.

You must get rid of this file and then launch Lightroom.

I have the plan of photography with photoshop and Lightroom 5. I tried to open a catalog I had created it said the photographs were again for the Lightroom I. I have a Mac and downloaded Didier, thinking I would get a new update of lightroom. It did not. Should I expect Lightroom cc and extra cost that would be for me?

Please open the app creative cloud on your computer and the gpo tot app tab. If you are not able to see the Lightroom CC listed, sign out and sign in the creative cloud.

Here is the screenshot for how you can download the application from the creative cloud

  • I just upgraded to window 7 for windows does not start Lightroom 10 6 because it cannot open the catalog or one of my backups

I just upgraded to window 7 for windows 10. 6 Lightroom does not start because it cannot open the catalog or one of my backups

Yes, once the user account is the upgrade to windows 10 have permission on the folder of photo issue, which prevents the Lightroom to create the necessary temp file when the catalog is launched.

This is the reason why I asked to copy the catalog file to another location to narrow down the reason for the problem.

  • Cannot open the catalog

I am unable to use Organizer in elements or Prime Minister. An error in says: "cannot open the catalog. An internal program error has occurred. »

I tried to reinstall and update but the problem persists. I use the Version 12 on Windows 8.1.

I found similar issues in the community, but they all seem to be unanswered. Help to solve this problem would be highly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hello again

By trail and error, I found a solution to 99%.

Right-click on the desktop, the icon of elements.

    Select Troubleshoot Compatibility.

    Select troubleshoot program

Select a problem (I used the other)

Select the Version of Windows (Windows 8 for me)

    Select the Test program

If it works, which he did in my case, save the settings.

This seems to have solved my problem, except that I now get an extra screen at the opening of the elements to allow the program to make changes to my computer. I can live with that.

When I get time I will check if there is any Adobe or updates to Windows that will make this unnecessary step.

I hope this helps other people with the same problem.

Thanks for responding and making suggestions.

suddenly, Lightroom said at the launch: "Der Lightroom-Katalog"Fotos' non open werden kann, da er von einer other application open. wurde already. " "Cannot open Lightroom Catalog"Fotos"because it is used by another program" no other application is running. What can I do?

Navigate to the folder that contains your catalog file, delete a file whose name ends with .lock

  • Get an error 1706 while trying to open a catalog

I currently use 4 LR and can't open a catalogue outside of LR.  When I try to open a catalog where it is stored in my pictures, I have two dialog boxes (attached screenshots).  The only way I can open a catalog is to open LR and go to open recent.   I keep the catalogues for each year and export that year of photos to catalog and store where I put the photos.  Up to what a few months ago, I could go into the folder of the year I wanted to open, double-click on the LR catalog and voila!  No problems.  The open catalog.  Someone has an idea what is the problem?  I tried researching it and feel that I am in way over my head.  Help!  Thank you!!!Capture.PNGCapture2.PNG

Thanks, Brett!  I ended up calling Adobe and was on the phone with them for

more than an hour.  I wanted to answer in case anyone else has this problem.

No, I'm not on a network.  My catalogs are stored in my pictures.  Nothing

complicated.  The rep that helped me remotely took over my computer and

After consulting with several elderly people decided it was time to send my case

up to the next level because he could not solve the problem, but do it before

He asked that I uninstall and reinstall LR.  Didn't you know that

has worked!  Should have tried first.  I am pleased to announce that I can now open

    upward all my LR catalogs.

  • LR is telling me that it can't open my catalog...

It says "cannot open catalog named 2012 (the name of my catalog) because it is already open in another application."  ~ HELP! Which could use other than LR LR catalog? I checked my task manager and you don't see anything there related. I connect and turn it back on. I restarted my PC. Nothing makes no difference . Please don't tell me that I'm going to need to start a whole new catalog... Such a pain!

With the help of LR4 on Windows 7 64 bit.

Take a look in the folder corresponding to your catalog and if there is a file ending .lock, delete. Then you should be able to open your catalog.

Please HELP - I am trying to open a catalog and window says: cannot open the catalog because another application has already opened - but NOT the OTHER RCTs is open. The continue button does nothing and there is a button to choose a different catalog which I did not need. How do I avoid this? Can HoD I open the catalog. I even tried to open it on the other computer and said the same thing. This is a problem with the hard drive? THANKS for any help!

    Lenka,

Easy solution: find the catalog of lightroom on your hard drive. It ends by ".". LRCAT. In the same folder, there will be a file named .lock. Remove the .lock file and then run Lightroom. Everything will be fine.

  • How can I open a catalog "not accessible in writing"?

I just upgraded my CPU and operating system to Windows 7. I reinstalled Lightroom 3. When I try to open a catalog, I receive an error message that it cannot be opened because it is not writable.  Any suggestions?

There are at least three reasons for this:

    (a) you have no write permissions for the reader, that the catalogue is on. It is a feature of Windows 7: for each drive, you have to give all the permissions. Click on the drive in question, go > properties > Security tab, then select your logon name. You should have check marks for 'Total control', 'Edit' and 'write '.

If you do not, click on , make sure that you name is highlighted and check "Full control", etc.

BTW, you also have to do this for the reader, your photos are on, i.e. for each drive that uses Lr (think also cache Lr).

    (b) Lr requires enough free space on the hard disk where the catalog to be able to write to it. If there is not enough free space left, you ge the message that the catalog is not writable.

    (c) - lock file: when Lr is open there is a lrcat.lock file which is located just outside of your catalog. It prevents that Lr is open on two occasions because it would create problems with the catalogue. The locking file should NOT be present when Lr is closed, but sometimes it doesn't go away for reasons unknown to me. With closed Lr check if you see a lock file (same name as your catalog, but with end "lrcat.lock"). If you do, send it to the Recycle Bin / Trash CAN do not delete your catalogue, the .lrcat file!

  • Cannot open the catalog on CD

I need to export a catalog for a college assignment and burn it to CD. The export had a slight hiccup with conflicts in the metadata to dng files 2, but I just ran over the data. The main problem is when I burned the files on a CD and tried to open the catalog on CD, I get the following error:

"lightroom cannot open the catalog named"..." "" located on the DVD RW drive (e) volume because Lightroom can't save the changes to this place.

What I am doing wrong? I use LR3.4 and under Win Vista on my laptop at home. Is this a problem with my pc? Can I use the Mac to College instead? I need to know as soon as the transfer is due May 11, 2012 (on Friday).  Thanks for any input.

A catalog cannot exist on a CD and be used as a catalog must be writable and are not CD. You can copy the catalog from the CD to the computer, that you have the CD to use however.

The best option is to use a flash drive (USB key) for that well that rather than a CD.
