Opening of the "Documents" on the start menu
When I select 'documents' on the right side of the start menu and then click twice on the doc to open it, I get an error message that the requested doc not be found. However, if I open the MS Office application (Word or Excel) and then go to open the document, there is no problem. How can I fix the problem of not being able to open the start menu? This device worked well for a long time, but the end does not work correctly.
Right-click on the Documents icon and check the path on the general tab. Does say "C:\Users\
You can also open Documents by clicking on the Start Menu on your name and user then scroll on the left side to the Documents and then clicking on it to open it on the right side. If you do so, the same problem occurs with the impossibility of finding the requested document? It doesn't work anywhere in Windows Explorer, but works in real-world applications? Have you tried other types of files outside the Office (as a PDF)? The same problem occur? If this is the case, it looks like there may be something wrong with the Windows Explorer. Do you know when this problem started? Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started. Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/. Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points. If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two. NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates. Make a boot minimum http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/929135?p=1 and see if the problem persists. Otherwise, follow the procedures in the article to find the program/process causing the problem and either remove or uninstall. Don't forget to put your system in normal condition when done as explained in the article. Boot mode safe (repeatedly clicking the F8 key during the boot process until the menu appears) and see if the problem exists in this mode. Please post back and let us know that this information is important to track the cause (regardless of the outcome). Your user profile may be corrupted. To fix this use http://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/windows-vista/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile. If that is the only available Administrator Profile (you need to be an administrator to fix this), enable the Hidden Administrator Account (HAA) using http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?&lang=en&cr=US&guid=&sloc=en-us&dg=microsoft.public.windows.vista.administration_accounts_passwords&p=1&tid=d20f9db4-7b2c-48be-a087-7835dc2a9055&mid=d20f9db4-7b2c-48be-a087-7835dc2a9055. If you don't remember the password, try nothing because that's probably what you (or seller) did during the installation. Once that is done, don't forget to disable the HAA to save it in case it is necessary once again and for safety reasons (since people often try to hack into systems using this account). Do NOT use the HAA as your administrator account because if you lose the only administrator on the system account or it is damaged again, then you're watered. If that doesn't work, then let's try to check your hard disk for corruption and system files:
Go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run. It will scan and try to correct some of your system files. If all goes well he comes complete with no corruption, it could not repair (if it has these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228. Try to put all the corrupt files here so that we can see if they can be repaired with good copies of the installation disc (unless there are too many).
While in the command prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and enter and let it run. She might want to plan itself to start at the next startup. Okay, then restart so that the program can run. It will scan and attempt to resolve any corruption or bad sectors on your hard drive and remove especially as a potential cause.
If it doesn't (or if SFC detects corruption it cannot repair), we you will need to do a repair/system upgrade using the Windows Vista Installation disc authentic (you own or that you can borrow from someone). Here is the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html. Although this will not affect your data, settings or programs, you should always back up your data before you start just be on the safe side. If other procedures do not work, it is almost certain to work. You can have a lot of updates to re - install (including all you need to remove service packs). If the version of the system came with SP1 or SP2 preinstalled and the disc is an earlier version, then you will need to make a record of slipstream as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/151606-vista-sp1-slipstream-installation-dvd.html.
I hope this helps. Please post back and let us know in all cases (and if the problem persists - try to include the answers to the question asked above). If you have any questions as you go along, feel free to post back.
Good luck!

Microsoft Word pinned to the Start Menu do not open the menu in the right sidebar
With Excel in my Start menu when I put my cursor over them or click on the right arrow all my pinned documents appear. Microsoft Word used to do that, but now nothing happens if I put my cursor over them or click the right arrow. He worked and suddenly stopped. Any suggestions? All other start icons show documents pinned and recent programs or non-Microsoft. I tried to remove it and then put it back and restarted my computer and tried again, neither worked. Thank you.
... Word used to do that, but now nothing happens if I put my cursor over them or click the right arrow. He worked and suddenly stopped...
This seems to be a little corruption in the history of the document, but first check your Recent Documents . You decided to keep it a secret, your version of Word so here are a few tracks for Word 2007.
With Word open to a blank document, click the Office button , then click on Word Options in the lower right. Select Advanced from the list on the left and scroll down to the section display halfway, the right pane. Check the next number of show this number of recent documents: to ensure that it is above zero. If it is zero, to increase the number to something you want to keep, and then click OK at the bottom right.
If the show this number of recent documents: setting was already above zero, there may be a small file corruption in historical data. Frequent data section the Jump lists are stored in this folder,
%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations
Click Start or press the Windows key and type or the location of the folder in the program files , then click on paste

Who must provide recent documents for Word Launcher in the Start Menu. If you can't find the file, try to clear all the files and restart the computer. Subsequent use of Word and other added elements should repopulate the lists.

How can I add my Documents on the right side of the start menu?
I had my old computer set up so that there is one, I suppose, a link to My Documents on the right side of the Start Menu. If I clicked it it made a menu drop-down, and then resumed for a folder in there. The hard drive on this computer is dead on my and I try to get this new back upward in the same way as the old. Can someone tell me how to get that back?
But you see the small triangles, not you?
Depending on what you select here:
gives you the following options:
- Display as a link - button when the Start Menu is clicked, it opens a window for it.
- Display as a menu - button when the Start Menu is clicked or hovered over, he developed a menu for him.
Do this for all items (computer, Documents, etc.).
And this isn't a right but normal (left-clicking) click...

If I have Thunderbird up and then I put windows in sleep mode, when I come back once again, the start menu in Windows 10 appears automatically (can someone tell me how to stop this?). If I click anywhere on the screen menu start disappears and everything works fine, but if I forget to do it and for example, double-click on an email to open it, Thunderbird and then freezes. If I close Thunderbird and re-open he, she, then it brings up the email that I had clicked on, so he must have tried to open it while it was frozen.
This isn't a big problem, just annoying bloom. Don't know if it's a problem of Windows 10 or Thunderbird. If someone can tell me how to stop start menu from popping up automatically, it wouldn't solve the problem, but it would be at least!Version 38.3.0 is now available. Resolve the problem?

can not clear 'my recent documents' drop files on the start menu
Can't erase my files in the 'My recent documents' from the drop down on the start menu
You didn't say what you tried to do (you did not also what version of Windows you have, including service pack level).
Assuming you have some variety of Windows XP, the usual procedure is to right-click on the Start button, select Properties, click the Start Menu tab, click the Customize button, then finally click 'Clear list' or if you use the XP Menu, click the Advanced tab, then click on "Clear list."
You can also use the FixIt tool in this article--> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307875
Post back if you have done this and the list is always filled.

Hi Ken_978,
· How long have you been faced with this problem?
· Did you do changes on the computer before the show?
· The question is only limited to Office applications?
· What exactly happens when you try to open an Office application? You receive an error message?
Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:
Method 1: I suggest that you scan your computer with the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malware
The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.
http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.
Important: While running scan on the hard drive if bad sectors are found on the hard drive when scanning try to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost.
Method 2: If this does not help then you can uninstall and reinstall Windows search 4.0 on the computer.
Follow the steps below to uninstall:
a. click on Start
b. click Control Panel
c. select Add / Remove Program
d. place a check on "Show updates"
e. you will see Windows Desktop Search 4.0 and uninstall it.
Reinstall back, you can see the link below:
http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/products/winfamily/desktopsearch/choose/windowssearch4.mspx
Hope this information helps.
