Oracle discoverer worm 9.0.2.39.02

We have installed Oracle discoverer 9.0.2.39.02, and it works very well internally. But when I try on the discoverer of several firewall cannot connect. What port number do I need to open the firewall for work. Pls know me if I missed something.

Hello

I will caveat my response with:
A. you are on version not patched a long version of support base.
(B) my knowledge of the 9.0.2 version is declining (very quickly, I might add).

My first recommendation, if you can, would be to install and use Discoverer 10 g (10.1.2) and the latest patches. The recommendation should be not only on the most recent, this is mainly due to the fact the discoverer 9i and 10 g (9.0.4) still rely on some old corba visibroker components that are a bit difficult to configure. The guardian is an option and it took with discoverer 4i, but before you try, you can try this:

Like RMI uses random ports, it may be that a firewall, router, etc. not blocking communication.

Navigate to: $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/OC4J_BI_Forms/applications/discoverer/web/plus_files/xsl /.
Backup: plus_config.xml
Edit: plus_config.xml
Find the section of transport, as

++

Replace "jrmp" "http" so that it becomes:

++

Bounce the middle layer.

You can access via the IP address if you wish; However, you need to configure a VirtualHost. In General, if you want to access it via the host name and IP address, then I recommend running on a separate listener

If you run on the 7800 listening port, then the VirtualHost would be

ServerName {IP ADDRESS}
Port 7800

If you access via hostname, it will then use the ServerName and Port directives (except if you have installed another virtual server (for example, an alias)

I hope that helps (again, I recommend 10.1.2.2 or 10.1.2.3 because the servlet connection manages the communication through the firewall easier - in my opinion)

Kind regards

Steve.

    2. What is the difference between the licensed version and the free download version? did in taking in charge?
    3. I downloaded the free version of the Oracle downloads page and tried to configure a EUL for our Test Instance, but its taking too much time to create the metadata from APPS. What should I do?

This is my first time to use discoverer.

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

If you use Discoverer to evaluation purposes only so you don't need a license. If you intend to use it to support your activities, you are proposing, then you have a license.

As for whether there are differences between the licensed version and download version there are no difference. Download the software and install it are exactly the same. It is recommended to install the latest patches, however.

Regarding the installation against the Apps, it should be transparent. On the downloads page of my site Armstrong - Smith Consulting - downloads is a white paper that explains how to set up a lifestyle Apps EUL. This is a free book and I know that it has been used several times.

  • Oracle Discoverer 4i (Portal db - oracle 8i) connectivity with database 11g problem

    Hi all

We have oracle discoverer 4i with Portal db (oracle 8i).

Connect to external databases by using links in the portal db db and reports will use the link db to retrieve data from views in external databases.

External databases, we have been connecting is oracle 10g version and now we have improved these databases to version 11g.

Now I have a created a new database link to this 11g database and I have created a new EUL in the portal to connect to this database 11g.

But when I try to create a report using the discoverer of this new EUL after login for the discoverer we get an "Unable to connect to the database" error.

We all have the privilege of necesscary to the user and the new database link works perfectly well. (when we try to query directly using SQL as database portal using this db link the query works perfectly).

I'm not sure if it is a compatibility issue in accessing an 11g database since oracle disk 4i.

Can any advise if this is the case and if there is no work around for this?

    Kind regards

    REDA

You say that you are having problems with a link of database from 8i to 11 g (pl exact position of 4-digit versions)? If so, expect as database of links between these two versions are not supported. Is there a reason you can't pass the portal of databases of at least 10 g 2?

  • Oracle Discoverer of desupporting?, can I use the reports of 10g in R12

    Hi all
I've heard so many times that Oracle will stop in favour of Oracle Discoverer reports.
But at the same time, I can see the available literature on Support.oracle.com to configure the report of Discoverer for R12.
Report of discoverer and discoverer BI are two different products which integrates differently with Oracle.
Maybe my questions is very naïve, but want to have a correct answer.

Report generation of discoverer using Discoverer 10g working for 11i will work for R12 as well?

  • Oracle Discoverer workbooks in OBIEE 11 g migration

    Hello
Can you tell me how we can migrate workbooks Oracle Discoverer in OBIEE 11 g, I heard that there is a tool that escapes in last summer for this migration, can someone give me details on this one.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello
I fear that Oracle failed to conversion of the discoverer in OBIEE workbooks. It is still on the radar, but they have nothing.

For some of my clients, it's a huge setback. I have a client who has more than 32,000 discoverer workbooks and adding more at a rate of about 5 000 per year. Obviously, a customer of this size is a potential customer for OBIEE. The only thing they can do now is to rewrite all the reports.

To this would be a huge task and I did some math for them. Let's say you can rewrite a report every 15 minutes, to test and parallel runs. So you can convert 4 in an hour or a full day 32. 32 32 000 Diviiding means that they would need to allocate 1,000 days-men for the task. Knowing that, on average, a person works about 220 days a year and you are looking at about 5 years of human, not including potentially 1000's of new discoverer workbooks that were created at this time. Needless to say that my client is not happy with Oracle and refuse to engage in this way stick with the discoverer.

I know for a fact, this company is not alone and I personally urge Oracle to allocate resources to correctly convert the discoverer workbooks. I know part of the problem is that there are things that discoverer takes his cruising speed OBIEE cannot do or has great difficulty with. I don't see how you can convert up to OBIEE customers can do everything that Finder can do.

    Thoughts anyone?

  • Creating a new workbook in Oracle Discoverer

I'm not very familiar with Oracle Discoverer, but have have been involved in recently. What I'm trying to do is create a new business district. I connected the Oracle Discoverer administrator and follow these steps

-Create a new online dictionary business district
    -Selection of the user schema
-Selected tables/views, I wanted to include in the business area
    -Click on finish

Now, I have included the tables in the business district. When the user connects to Oracle Discoverer, he can see the 3 tables/views I've selected. If they try to create a new workbook, they can only include one of the tables in the workbook, but not all 3 at the same time. If I include a table, two tables become "disabled" and cannot be included in the workbook.

    Any ideas why this happens?

  • zip file to create diagrams for Oracle and Oracle Discoverer Portal

    Hello everyone.

Im trying to install WebLogic for forms and reports under linux,
I need the zip file to create diagrams for Oracle and Oracle Discoverer Portal
    to run the rcu scrip.

Can someone send me the link where I can find it?

Thanks to advanced & happy new year to all.

If you are a developer of FMw 11 g installation, you need not configure the portal or the discoverer, unless of course you plan to use these products.

When I installed and configured the FMw 11 g, I followed the * how to install Fusion Middleware 11 g forms and reports only [854117.1 ID] * (available via My Oracle Support). WLS and FMw share the Directory Home of Middleware. I accepted directories default installation (\Oracle\Middleware\) and WLS installed in \Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3 and FMw installed at \Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_PFRD, and the Instance of forms at \Oracle\Middleware\instances\ft_inst. More Doc ID 854117.1, I chose only the following for installation in step "configure the components:

    • Server - Oracle Forms and Oracle reports components
    • Developer - Oracle Forms Builder and Oracle report builder tools
    • Management components - Enterprise Manager
    • The system - Oracle HTTP Server components

IM thinking I have need save the fmx in a directory of this tree and also the FMAS and configure ther formsweb agreeing with that.

It is not necessary. All you have to do is add the Variable environment of FORMS_PATH (EV) and include the directory where your files .fmb and .fmx will be created. This EV indicates forms where to find your forms Modules and libraries of forms (.pll/.plx) you can use in your forms.

The usefulness of the repository creation (RCU), you can download it here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/fmw-11-download-092893.html
Just scroll down for the * @ section additional software required and there is a separate download.

    Hello

What products of Oracle should I download to set up a test environment, > other than the RDBMS/Oracle instance. (BTW, is discoverer a former name?)

You must download the discoverer and office.
You must get the application as well as the more server / Viewer.
And discoverer is not an ancient name.

I saw that it is classified as 'archived' produced in OTN).
How far behind is 4i version?

4I is very old, and that is exactly why it is "archived", you should go for the 10.1.2.2 version and then upgrade to 10.1.2.3 with patch comulitive 5.

    Hello

The minimum you need to run the discoverer is BI tools of discoverer (Admin and office) for windows available from here and the database is available from here.

Alternatively, you can install the tools on the web, more and Viewer where you download Business Intelligence from here

There are several different versions of discoverer and tools available.

  • How to get a detailed list of all workbooks in Oracle Discoverer Database

    Hello

Is it possible to create a query that would give me a list of all workbooks in my Oracle Discoverer database which includes what tables were selected to create the query, including the conditions?

    Please let me know.

    Thank you.

    Hi Becky,

Discoverer should be bundled with the V5 EUL business district. I don't know which versions have, so I'm hoping its all of them. It allows you to build reports on file in the database, when they were performed last etc. I don't know if you can report on database tables.

I found a useful documentation about installation and usage of this here http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/html/B10270_01/eul_stat.htm#1004700

    I hope this helps you.
