Organization of file/folder on your drive

This is a fundamental question about the best way to organize your photo files / media that best suits to find them in Bridge.   Currently, I have many, many sub folders that somehow a bit lame, rank the files in the events and dates - of thousands of photos.  I am trying to assign keywords and renaming (Fortunately it isn't too big of a task in bridge), but I want to be able to filter or 'see' as those who have a set of specific keywords.  Which doesn't seem to work in all of the subfolders.

I'm probably missing something and I'll be honest, I'm not a reader of documents (I'm a man).

Then, how everyone organizes their ' stuff ' on the hard drive to optimize the characteristics of bridge?

Thanks in advance,

Research work to the bottom of the tree of directories of the starting point.  In order to choose your high starting point enougth if you want to search files will be included.  This assumes of course these subfolders are indexed.

  • Creative cloud updates / Files folder location change Bug

I have a major bone to pick with the CC app. Software updates work very well. This is the real CC app updates which are originally my company a LOT of grief and the loss of time/productivity/money.main computer that is hosting the shared files using an external hard drive (S) to save all files on. Whenever there is an update to the CC app required it corrects everything BUT change the location of the files in the Preferences menu to the default drive (C). This caues all other computers that are related to re - sync ALL the files. On average, it's about 14 000 files which lasts about 10-19 hours depending on the computer and the internet connection.

This has happened at least twice now. I can't be the only person it happened and it's unacceptable. I found a few messages in the forum, but there are no answers from anyone at Adobe.

    My questions are

    1. is there a way to avoid preferences him swinging back the location of the files on the default drive after an update?
    2. a development team seeks to this question at all so that it can be fixed on a future update?

With the recent update of the application of Creative Cloud Desktop (1.9.1.474), we have unfortunately introduced a bug that causes the creation of a new Creative Cloud Files folder and re-synchronization of all content. This will happen only the first time that the synchronization application runs after the update. This caused an understandable pain and confusion, for which we really apologize.

Creative application Cloud Files contains a logic that supports the use of several Adobe ID. This allows to disconnect from an ID and in, but keeps the contents of your separate creative cloud. When you sign out and change identifiers, the app moves the previous creative Cloud Files folder and it's content and he adds with the already signed in ID (User@AdobeID). Then, it creates a main folder and begins to synchronize the content of the identification of new.

The bug I mentioned earlier occurs, as the app believes an ID selector took place and as such, moves the current record of Creative Cloud Files and attempts to annex the already signed in ID. As no switch actually took place, it manifests as (unknown).  The application then creates a main folder to synchronize the data.

What you end up with is essentially a creative Cloud Files folder with your new synchronized data and a creative Cloud Files (unknown) folder that contains duplicate data.

This happens once, after the last update.

The solution is to simply delete the (unknown) Creative Cloud Files folder.

I recommend that ensure you that you have no pending change you can do offline and you check the contents of the folder new, main designer Cloud Files contains everything you expect of him.  If this is not the case, check the contents of the creative Cloud files (unknown).

If there is still an incompatibility with your data, you can check on creative.adobe.com to confirm that your data is there.

Original title: cannot transfer files to one external hard drive to another

An error message is displayed: "error copying file or folder." Impossible to copy "file/folder name. "The destination folder is the same as the source folder.

    Peter Tiedemann

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community.

From your problem description, I understand that you are unable to transfer files from an external drive on another drive. Please let me know if this isn't the problem that you are experiencing.

Before troubleshooting, I have little information on the issue.

    1. Do you receive any error or display message?
    2. Did you recent hardware or modifications to the software on the computer before this problem?

Try the methods and then check after each method:

Method 1: Transfer files from a drive to the location on the desktop or a temporary folder and then try to transfer them to the destination disk.

Note: make sure the free space on the disk in the destination drive.

    Method 2: Run the Fixit:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/windows_file_and_folder_diag/

Method 3: Disconnect your player safely, and restart the computer. And then try to transfer the files.

If the problem persists, post your reply with results and questions above. We are happy to help you further in the advanced troubleshooting steps!

  • Printer driver install resulted in double Program Files folder - how can I remove it?

Trouble installing a lexmark printer driver led to a work folder lexmark Program Files (x 86) and a 2nd same lexmark folder in a new folder of C: drive called "Program Files (x 86) (x 86)".  Only lexmark files are in this new folder in program files.  Can find no specific uninstall script in the new folder.

Can I just delete (x 86) 2nd (x 86) folder and lexmark all files it contains?

The printer works now that the "Program files (x 86)" has been filled.

My directories now looks like this:

    OPERATING SYSTEM (C :))

    Program Files

    Program Files (x 86)

    Program Files (x 86) (x 86)<= this="" is="" the="" apparently="" duplicate="" folder="" and="" contains="" only="" lexmark="" printer="" files="" (reviewed="" with="" 'show="" hidden="" files'="">

If you will not be able to rename after reboot, you can try to boot your operating system in "safe mode" and rename the folder in "safe mode":

    Hello

Thanks for posting the question in the Microsoft Community forums. According to the description, you need help to get an alert message when you attempt to open a file, folder or drive.

The alert message you received disk and backup recovery file is supplied by the manufacturer.

There is no message alert option in Windows. You can search for any third-party application, using your favorite search engine.

  • What is the correct way or better to manage your site files according to the folder of your site?

I apologize if this seems to be a silly question but I'm still having trouble getting my head around the management of files when using dreamweaver. I know that I am supposed to create a root folder that I created on my desktop. All of my sites that I have here in create in dreamweaver go to sub files in this main file or am I supposed to have several root file?

Ive assumed I create a single up to that point. However I have other questions... for example when I create a fluid grid site I go through the steps of creating first my folder under this new site in my account from the main root for dreamweaver, save my css inside file when asked, and then I save the html file main Sub ' save under ' as well... However, as you know, creates then two files separate, 'catch-all' and 'response' but instead of placing them in my folder of pennies for this site, he places them in the root file instead of in the subfolder that is located in the file root (if necessary). If I manually move them to the sub folder to keep things tidy this will mess up my files? Dreamweaver will be able to go to search folder under rather than the file root where he keeps putting automatically their?

Or I have the complete wrong end of the stick to understand how to make the management of the work all together?

    Any help greatly appreciated

    Ed

OK so just to clarify. Each site actually has its own root folder and simply for the love of the organizations you place all of your files to the root of each site in a larger folder which in your case is called 'sites '.

    Exactly that.

My confusion is that dreamweaver seems to have everything automatically create new site, I try to go in a root folder, I created a site earlier. That's why I guess you don't have that one folder root and all of your different sites exist within of the it.

Ignore this. I see sometimes that happens as well. But because you browse to find the folder new root of the site in any case, it is imminent can be ignored!

-I created a new folder outside of dreamweaver on my desk first who must accommodate all that documents sites. I was the creation of each new folder in what I thought, it's the main single root for dreamweaver folder that was on my desktop up to this point.

There is no "single root for dreamweaver folder. As you might have guessed, each site has its own root folder and root each folder contains * all * files that make up this particular site. ***

-J' then I open dreamweaver and will create a new site layout fluid grid

-He asks me to save my css somwhere... I save in my new site folder (I now know what will be the root folder of my sites that each website has its own root folder)

All my sites have a "_css" at the root folder. I precede these files with an underscore so that this and other like him (for example '_img', "_scripts", etc.) will sort together, and at the top of the list of files. This issue of _css in the root of this site, this is where I would put the stylesheet quote you. ***

-When he opens all I go to 'file' and ' save under ' so that I can put the HTML in the document in my root folder as well. (don't forget this root folder is sitting in another folder called "root folder" but you assume I simply call 'sites' in this example.)

    So. ***

-When I do this the html records in the folder root of the site as I hope.

-However, dreamweaver application also my permission to create two new documents as mentioned (boilerlate and respond). Despite me trying to click the folder root of sites and it saves the documents it contains, like the rest, he saves instead what is in your folder "websites" in this example... next to the folder root of sites that i would have it should be in (not... correct me if I'm wrong)

Well, this suggests that you have not set the root folder properly. These two files must be saved in the root of the site. If this location is not what you are talking about as the root of the site, then something is wrong.

Why do you think that what is happening? or is it supposed to? I would have thought not myself.

as I side question while I'm here... when I see that my css or js documents have been saved in the wrong place, as I assume they were in the example above... How can I change the location of their in dreamweaver so that dreamweaver knows where they have been moved to? I know not how to do for the HTML document main because its easily done using "save under" on the file menu, but I'm not sure how do for the other document that dreamweaver creates something like a checkerboard to fluid.

Sorry... I'm sure it's painful for those who know how... but I'd love to get my head around things like basic

The best way to change the location of all files used in a DW site is to use the DW files Panel to drag - move these files to the desired location. Management of DW links will kick when you do this and adjust all the existing links to these files to accommodate your move. ***

  • I want to move the folder Program Files to another hard drive.

I have Windows 7 installed on a small primary partition on one of the two hard drives, double boot with Windows XP.  My installation of Windows XP is on a smaller primary partition (like Windows 7) and Program Files folder on a separate drive logic in an extended partition, not on the system drive.  I want to make a folder Program Files of Windows 7 on the same logical drive, Program Files and move the Program Files from Windows 7 folder to that partition on the second hard drive.

Just an update.  I finally managed to move 'Users' on a separate partition, so my installation of Windows 7 now has Windows on a partition, the files program on a logical drive in an extended partition, and users on a separate logic in this extended partition.

On the Windows partition, there are junctions that point to the logical drive Program Files and the logical drive of users and editing the registry to set these default locations.  Windows updates proceed normally and successfully.  Program facilities smoothly and work as expected.  I'll post my procedures on my site, I hope that in the near future, after that I tested and confirmed their on my other Windows 7 machines.

Be forewarned, however, that this separation will break the ability to repair/reinstall (upgrade on-site) Windows 7.  It will stop when he sees that Program Files not are not on the system partition.  However, in my particular case, I depend on third-party software disk for backup, Imaging for the loss of this functionality (repair/reinstall) has no real interest for me.  Restore a disk image is much faster.

There are other methods posted on the net to separate these main divisions of Windows during the installation. My methods are intended to guide differently to an existing facility while retaining all the features.  And once again, as shown in this thread, Microsoft Support seems to discourage that kind of thing.

    Hi WalterFranco,

When you convert your files using ExportPDF or Adobe PDF package, the files are automatically saved in your online account. But, you can log on to your account on https://cloud.acrobat.com/files, select the file that you want to store on your hard drive, and then click the link to download at the top of the list of files.

Please let us know how it goes.
