It will not be changed in Windows. One of the problems with the auto arrange feature is that it can slow down navigation in folders and files on some systems.

  • Importing and organizing photo files lightroom 5 for the first time. Clean photo hard drive files

I have a trial version of lightroom 5 and would like one once and forall to restore order to my two drives hard and lightroom 5 collection. Some photos in lightroom 5 seem to have lost their way. Some are in folders of Windows 7 and others are 9 elements. I made backup copies of some records and would like to have a more systematic approach to save them in the future. I have a NAS (network access storage) device and an additional hard drive, I thought that it would be better to use my cell phone as main for my photo files working memory such that it would be faster to work with the NAS or external and then again everything down to the NAS and external. I consider that the main challenge group all files and as much as possible to preserve the sides I gave photos; I would like to eliminate duplicats. on both the hard drive and in lightroom. I watched one of the vidios of initial training on the 'library' of the adobe help section and the presenter talked about two ways to import photos. the first and I think that I will use in the future is to open lightroom and import from the SD directly rather than having the Windows 7 import, and then ask to lightroom to find them. If anyone Kow of an exhaustive enumeration of the instructions on how to clean up my hard drives that would be extremely useful? Peter

I doubt that it is a list of instructions to wipe a hard drive, because each starting situation is different and your 'own' is probably very different than my "clean".

But let's clear up a few things first. From your writings, it seems that you think that you have stored pictures in post-secondary education and photos stored in LR. This is not correct. None of these programs to store your photos. All your pictures are on your hard drive, in folders, somewhere.

Regarding the missing photos in Lightroom, when you move or rename your photos and folders outside of the Lightroom, Lightroom doesn't know where they are and bring back them as being absent. To fix it, see: http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm related to that, you don't want to 'clean up' things in Windows and also "clean things" upward in Lightroom. Instead, once you import photos into Lightroom, you must do all the managing photos in Lightroom, not Windows, otherwise you'll just create several missing files.

Regarding duplicates, Lightroom has some tools to detect duplicates. He will try to prevent duplicates during the import, and if you are unable to import duplicates, you can use the "auto stack by Capture time" to try to find additional duplicates. But if those who do not work, then're it pretty much on your own.

With regard to put photos on your laptop to work on them rather than on your external hard drive, I think you will find that this gives a fraction of a second speed improvement that you may even not notice, which will be offset by the time you spend moving somewhere else photos when finished. So just put the photos in their final destination on your external HD or a NAS file and don't bother moving them to the internal HD.

Which leads to another point. Once you have done this 'cleaning', your workflow should be to put the photos in a place and then do not transfer! (Exception: not enough space on the disk or moving to another drive/computer) Make your life easier as possible.

One last point: seriously consider using keywords and other metadata for the Organization, rather than move photos/files from here to there, to reach the organization. These tools in Lightroom will give you the possibility of organizing in a much more powerful and flexible organization and what you can do by moving the photos/files from here to there. (Note: If you want all the photos in a sort of centralized location because it meets your storage needs, can do that because it meets your storage needs.) In this collection of photos in a centralized location, using keywords and other metadata to achieve organization and research)

  • Organizing photos in EP display problem

Desperately need help with a problem of visualization of my photos in EP 9 organizing. (More) my photos is displayed correctly - instead, in their frames are yellow (?) "s in the upper left corner and blue (?) "s in the centre. This is the case if I'm in the view 'thumbnail' or 'import batch' mode "display.

Strangely, I recently used a number of these photos in an album and they appear perfectly then.

    Someone has an idea?

    Thanks tons.

The question mark appears when pictures have been moved from their original location to another location. You must reconnect the files with the files in the original location.

  • What is happening in the original file of the photo when I import it in Photos and I have the "Delete after import" box checked?

What is happening in the original file of the photo when I import it in Photos and I have the "Delete after import" box checked?

When organizing photos for Photos for Mac app, I find that the Photos makes "copies" of files within the library of Photos and must reference a file if your settings are such that you do not copy the original files in the Photos app.

Trying to manage the disk space for the Macbook Pro.

The delete after import is available only when you import a device - a camera, card, an iPhone, but not when you import files from a folder on the system drive.

You can delete the local image files of your system drive yourself, once you have imported the Photos and they were copied in the photo library.

I would never use the option "delete after Import. The files will be deleted until you can check if the files have been imported correctly. If you find out later, that some of the imported files are corupted and illegible, it will be repeated o toolate import, because the files have been deleted from the device. Or worse, if pictures should plant a reason any during the import, all the pictures will be lost, if you have enabled "delete after import.

  • I need a new photo software

Since iPhoto will disappear, and I'm ready to move on a bit in my photo editing, I'm looking in Adobe Photoshop elements 14. It has a separate program which must be purchased for organizing photos.  Or could I use Lightroom for the Organization and also to use Adobe Photoshop elements 14 for editing when I choose? How it will be difficult to transfer photos to the new place (Lightroom or Photoshop Elements) to iPhoto? (Can I keep both iPhoto and the other for a while?)  . I also have photos on a hard drive to add some more from a PC. I want to get them all in the same place.  I do like to use the cloud.   I'm going to buy a new hard drive, a 3 TB for a HGST backup my photos (not for time machine).

I have an iMac of 2013, 10.10.5 Didier 256 KB by heart L3 6 MB cache 16GB memory

It is 1 TB with 840GB free

When I get it all done, I intend to upgrade to El Capitan.

If this does not work, can you give me the steps order - to move the photos to the new software that will be on my iMac.

    Thank you!

  • Some iPhoto albums appear empty with no sticker and say '0' when I fly over the album, but the photos are there when I double click.

To start, I read in countless discussions here on iPhoto glitches and patches, so I hope I'm not repeating this question, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere I had a question after question with iPhoto (mainly around several accidents after organizing photos into albums that made the album organization and this issue I describe below) and is considering moving to Adobe Bridge just to have a reliable place to store my photos without worrying about the constant pain. I realize that no program is immune to glitches, but the volume and the frequency that I've had with iPhoto is unmatched (which led me to wonder if it is just a user error, but I honestly can't understand for the life of me). So I describe my current number below, in the hope of resolving the issue so that either A. I can fix and give iPhoto a chance more or B can I ensure that my photos are safe and intact before transfer to another program.

Some of my iPhoto albums appear empty with no sticker and say '0' when I fly over the album, but the photos are there when I open the album. I have rebuilt the thumbnails, and it has not solved the problem. After the other issues that I had with iPhoto crashes, I made sure that all updates have been installed. Unfortunately, I don't remember if I've rebuilt or repaired the database, but it seems that all my photos are present, all mixed together and some showing in the albums 'empty '. Here's my question: is one problem, other than being boring? And should I switch to another program, or have I missed something?

    A few details:

    • I have rebuilt thumbnails today and it took 5.5 hours. It seems completing without problem, but has not solved the problem.

    • I have my computer fully backed up on an external drive to Seagate drive as Mac OS extended (journaled) as well as iPhoto backed up separately on the drive as well.

    • Looks like I have a "library" and "alias."

    • I use iPhoto to organize my photos. I use Photoshop to edit. I love the feel of iPhoto, but I lost hours and hours trying to organize and solve problems.

    • I use iPhoto 11 version 9.4.3 OSX 10.8.5 / / MacBook Pro processor 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7 Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

More worrying is the issue of the repeated questions. How you use iPhoto and Photoshop together?

    Tabula Rasa:

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its function of reconstruction. (In early versions of the Library Manager, this is the file-> control Rebuild. In versions later it is under the menu library.)

This will create a completely new library. It will then copy (or try) your photos and all associated metadata and versions to this library and as close as possible to what you had in the damaged library fix it. It does this based on the information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but it means that things not shared won't be there, so no slide shows, books or calendars, for example - but it should recover all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places.

Because this process creates a completely new library and does not change your old, it is non-destructive, and if you are not satisfied with the result, you can simply go back to your old.

  • opening import not photos of the iPhone 6

Suddenly opening any photos of my iPhone6.  I'm used to check the gallery opening by months and organizing photos monthly prominently in my filing system opening.  Last imported picture was last week.  I know opening will no longer be updated in the Apple system, Apple goes to the "Photos" app instead, but I was under the impression that, at least short term, opening would continue to operate as it has.  What might be missing?

    Thank you

    Katrina

You use Aperture 3.6, or what is your version of Aperture?  For me, opening 3.6 is still uploading my photo stream.  Have you checked if your iPhone is the downloading of mMy PhotoSream?  It will be onlyupload, if it is properly charged, it is linked to a Wi - Fi connection and the closed Camera.app.

You can add captions using the legend adds at the bottom of the details pane. When looking for images using the search box, you can find pictures using caption text to exactly in the same way that you can find pictures using tags and file names.

  • The photo management and photo programs

I have pictures in my 'photo' folder, Windows Photo Gallery, Picasa, and Kodak Easyshare.  I love all of these, but am myself confused.  I'm looking for an easy (and I say layman easy) way to view and work with any photo given from any given program.  My problem is that all my photos are not in all these programmes.  I even have pictures in programs that are not in my 'photo' folder (not sure how that happened).  I know I've missed it all this, but am looking for an easy way to have names of image file identical and content in each program across the Board, and simple instructions on how to keep it this way that more pictures are uploaded to my computer in the future.  Please, please help me because I'm about to pull out all my hair!  Thank you very much!

  • I can't get my photos to display in specific order because it maintains mix it up

How can I get my photos to be read in any order I want in windows 8 app I put description α pictures and want to see them in that order, but he keeps mixing up the order of my photos.   I scanned several old photos but obviously these dates of creation are not correct and I want to see the photos in the order I want

I understand that there is a drop down choice for the order. The only thing missing, however, is organizing photos by number. Surely someone from Microsoft can add this facility.

Try to open a new folder and put the photos in the order you want their screen.
