  1. it is safe to do so. Your Mac will not stop doing, worry not. However, you will not receive any new firmware update, so I would advise you to keep the OS x on a small partition at least.

  2. you can reinstall OS X whenever you want with recovery of the Internet. To reinstall OS X, you must only press the control, Alt and R keys during start up your Mac, but you need to format the disc first.

  (1) right click on the Finder on dock icon and select the option "Go - To Folder."
  (2) you will get a text box, type in below mentioned command and then press 'return '.

  (3) it will open the etc folder, look for file named "hosts" and the same screenshot of office.

  (4) double click on the Hosts file, it will open it with TextEdit.

  Let me know if you see any Adobe related as entries in the Hosts file 127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com... etc?

I installed AVG Free on the Mac and Win 10 sides, however, it seems to be really stuck on side Windows - that is, he is always "up to date" and driving me crazy. Questions - a) do I need to run an antivirus software on both platforms? And someone has recommendations on programs that are better use? I have an active subscription to McAfee for Windows, I think I could install instead.

  McAfee, Norton, AVG, etc... They are OK. Usually, you get FREE antivirus software with your internet subscriber.

  Comcast gives you FREE Norton. Check with your site to internet subscribers to the FREE anti-virus software.

• Organization of the wrong understanding OSX and presentation files?

  I'm a former developer/project manager who comes to Mac OSX after 15 years with Linux and 10 years of Windows, and I find myself confused in how file names are presented under OSX. The documents seems to provide a list of all the documents independently rental; i.e. their location is not provided. There are tags that allow a file to be found quickly, but the hierarchy folder, subfolder... file doesn't seem to be easily configured or maintained.  Now, I believe that system developers who designed and built the operating system, which, under the covers, works great as Linux, have an intention here to leave the structure of the files for different applications, or renounce the Organization of hierarchical tags for files or I missed something quite fundamental (the latter more likely possibility).

  Does anyone know how better to organize files and folders? My counter top is becomes quite cluttered with files, alias of folders and files that I would normally be organize in folders and project areas. I probably could understand it, but I think that I'm not the first to ask the question.

  The short answer is to keep all your documents in the 'Documents' folder in your Home Directory, i.e.

  ~/Documents

  You will probably want to create subfolders for specific projects, as you always have. There are also a few folders with names like 'Photos' and 'Music' for obvious purposes.

  I have my office as a temporary area and try to ensure that there is that more nothing at the end of the day. (Many workplaces as this rule for the offices of the real world, which is where I got the habit.)

  You are right, Apple wants to get rid of the traditional tree-structure file system for users. There are compelling arguments for this security because it facilitates the sand-boxing-based application. But it is a daunting task because many people have 'project-based' work and keep everything about each project in a folder.

  Among other things, Apple attempted to replace the traditional file system with 'Tags', which nobody do not know I love him. Very few people have obsession for tags files constantly and I have, on the one hand, don't trust Apple to not abandon them at some point in the future if I rarely use them.

  Attempt of another, much more successful, is "Spotlight", who, on a good day, can work magically. Unfortunately, it's a little weird and does not work for all types of files.

  So, I still organize my files into a tree-like hierarchy supplemented by alias. Spotlight is a nice bonus. Maybe one day I'll take like tags, but not today.

• Updated OSx and now no application open - "might be damaged or incomplete."

  From one day to the next, I update my OSx to 10.11.4 and now all my apps give me a "cannot open the application"XYZ"because it may be damaged or incomplete" error message.  Once I have try an app's icon in the dock the generic white paper with a pencil, brush and the leader.  Not good.  I feel that it's maybe a permission thing, but any help on getting my business back would be greatly appreciated.

  It is possible that you have moved applications from their default locations before the update to El Capitan.

  If this is the case, go to your Applications folder and try to open it from that location.

  You can then delete the old links from the dock and replace them with the current versions.

  Ask yourself why until both my OSX as well as my OS (CentOS) guest host of vmware can connect to the internet, it's just the Fusion.App it self and I even disabled my Little Snitch even there is no rule against Fusion.App

  Nothing shows up in the logs/Console.App OSX

  I understand the frustration. But maybe you can download the version of VMware Fusion which has the VMware Tools (and unfortunately also mcafee) in the download of the installer?

  As for your download problem, I don't know if it's still attributable to you or just today?

  It is also possible that the problem is a CDN issue, it might be a node of akamai having problems and are not able to offer your download.

  Otherwise your troubleshooting with power off of little snitch sound fine.

  FWIW, my little snitch rules are:

  VMware Fusion.app out to port 443 on ueip.vmware.com and softwareupdate.vmware.com

  I'm just trying to drag a file 397KO from the desktop of the host to the desktop of the virtual machine

  I have the drag and it snaps back on the desktop of the host.

  I uninstalled and reinstalled the VMWare Tools in the virtual machine.

  I have also uninstalelled and then rebooted and then installed and restarted with no luck.

  I also rebooted the host as well.

  It was originally a Lion install where tools were installed and then upgraded to level to Mountain Lion and then patches.

  I guess it's probably something simple I'm missing.

  ... I have OSX 10.5.8 and since updating Safari 5.0.6 Flash won't load, or rather, perhaps, is the opposite.

  In any case, all versions updates to Safari on all my OSX machines had a problem with Flash and I have solved many by removing the plug ins and return to Internet Plug Ins, etc.

  There was a problem with the tasty Apps Videobox, but I solved that.

  However the press as shown above... Nothing will get Flash to work. I removed all the Flash plug ins and re instaklled several times with no luck.

  Any ideas?

  Uncheck the box this and try again, it's originally Safari runs PowerPC mode.

  I have a MAC 5 K, an iPad Pro, an iWatch and an iPhone 6, which are on my desk.  I have known problems with the help of Siri with several devices and now with e-mail.

  The problem with Siri is that all the devices to try to answer and its pot luck which is used.  Tonight, I started a conversation with "Messaged" on my MAC, the conversation was with my son on his iPhone 6.  Then all of a sudden instead of receiving updates on my MAC, the updates started coming to my iPhone and not on the Mac.

  After a while, it is then switched to the Mac.  It's embarrassing and frustrating, the devices cannot be aware of the other and notify each other that one is in use and therefore block each other?

  Hello again!

  You can send the question to Logitech customer support and otherwise reinstall the Logitech software again or reset factory default driver software, as I don't know any more than the problem lies in the web browser itself.

  If all above fails them, try and see if you can get the mouse works propely on other computers running the same version of Mozilla Firefox.
