  Did you cancel the process while he was the compaction? you will need to locate your dfx file to see if the email still exists. Open Outlook express--> tools--> Options-> Maintenance-> click the storage folder. Get you the location of your dbx file, copy the address. Now, open my computer and paste the location into the address bar. This will show you all your dbx file. Locate the item you sent... Right click and view the properties.   Better application MYOB this one. I don't have any idea of what methods they use to send mail, but check their support forum, it seems that they are testing with Microsoft Outlook.

  It's pretty crappy tests, but something that I've come to expect of accounting and management software line.

  Thunderbird supports simple MAPI support, and I think that MYOB use it, but I also think that simple MAPI only works on 32-bit windows.   Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

  Recovery methods:
   
  If you are running XP/SP3, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.
   
  To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.
   
  Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.
   
  In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.
   
  Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.
   
  Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.
   
  First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.
   
  If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.
   
  If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.
   
  If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

  It is not a question for Windows 8, but if you are looking to get the upgrade at low prices to Windows 8, forget it. You must prove that you bought your PC between June 2012 and February 2013.

  Re upgrade to Windows 8. Do not upgrade until you have had a chance to try it. After October 26, it should be on the computers at major computer stores. I suggest that you ask for a demo.

• picture looks washed out on save?

  My question is about photoshop elements, but I thought that people who know what they are talking about would be in this forum, I hope this isn't a problem.

  When I open a (high resolution JPG) photo in photoshop (elements), it looks great. Then when I use 'save for web' the resulting jpg (or PNG) colors has all sort of washed out looking. What looks like a professional shot (which is actually a professional shooting) suddenly appears less pro.

  What is the cause, and can I do about it? It is not the "quality" of JPG, it is the problem, because same full quality does the same thing.

  And then part 2 to my question: when I download on myspace, it seems even MORE washed out. If I have all three photos is displayed on my screen (original, cropped in photoshop, myspace) the difference is obvious. Of course this second issue is not strictly a matter of photoshop.

  Any thoughts?

  The problem is that your screen has a smaller range than sRGB. So when you preview the image in a browser that is unmanaged, you see without compensation of color that appears faded. Do you see a difference between Safari and Myspace because Myspace is stripping the image sRGB profile, so then your browser returns without compensation of color and you get the washed look.

  To relax. You see all of the images in this way. Open any web image with no profile embedded in PS, assign sRGB and you will see the art as the artist intended, for the first time. You cannot stop people to view your photos in this way. Your best bet is to make sure you're conversion / work in sRGB which is the 'norm' of the web.

  If the image is really important, you can tag with the small (~ 4 k) managed profile sRGB so those with Safari and other browsers will see the color that you intend. But thanks to Myspace and Facebook, you're ground do not worry. Is no longer everyone.

  And don't forget, each piece of art you have ever seen on the web stink just like what you see now, and you have never noticed before.

  In the OE bar:
   
  1. File | Work offline. Check it out.
  2. View | Page layout. Turn off the preview pane.
  3. Click on the Outbox if you see the message headers.
  4. Either remove them or highlight and drag them to the drafts folder.
  5. Right-click on a message header and you will see the size on the general tab. Most likely, the first was the problem.
  6. Send a test message simple for you, understand you OK?
  7. Try to resend messages in the drafts folder if you want to always, starting with the smallest.
   
  General precautions for Outlook Express:
   
  Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.
