Also, I copied my old laptop Favorites in the news (via a hd post), but they do not appear in IE8. I know where the files are, I can't just them getting in the browser. What should I do?

  July 2011, updated night substituted Windows Mail to my Outlook Express.  The previous settings, accounts, box receipt, messages sent and saved files have disappeared.  I have trouble finding them for re-import them in Windows Mail.  Orientation, please?

  There is no Outlook Express on Vista, so it's hard to understand what happened.  If you want to run Windows Mail, then it is under "c:\program files\Windows Main\Winmail.exe".  You can copy it (including the quotation marks) and click Start | Search and paste that here and WinMail should start.  But there is no OE in Vista.  Can you download Windows Live Mail installed and that's what you see.  But you need to clarify what exactly you use above all can help more.

  I just installed a new drive on my vista dell calculation running after the failure of the old drive. I could get all my old data except e-mail from an external drive that was being automatic backup of vusta. I was using outlook express on your old computer. On the new disc from the dell software required that I used Windows mail. Mail program says he can import files from outlook express, but it didn't import empty files for me. When I look at the folders.dbx file, it only contains e-mail before 2007 and seems to correspond to the email I have uploaded from an older computer in 2007. How can I recover my missing email? Is it possible to reinstall outlook express? I still have the old external hard drive failed and the backup data on the hard drive.

  (1) that I can't do is delete the recovered Messages folder. A while back, I was able to delete empty files individually, one by one until I got rid of all. But now nothing happens when I delete things. I use Live updates for current email, so I can survive, but...

  (2) concerning the recovery of the hard drive, I don't mind try the program you suggested, but don't know how to connect the old drive. I remember reading something on a low-cost device that can be connected to a port... if USB, maybe you can direct me to a site where this is discussed, I would be grateful.

  1: tools | Options | Maintenance | Advanced | Store folder will show you the path to the Windows Mail message store. You may be able to remove the Messages recovered there. Do it with closed WinMail.

  I'm moving all my old outlook express messages on a computer with window mail (sys for operation is windows 7).   I found the messages on my old PC and copied to the new PC.   I ran import from windows mail, and he says that the import has been completed.   But now I can't find where are the messages in windows mail.   If I do a search I find some messages and he says they are in a storage file.   I'd like to find out where is this file and how can I move my files to normal mail messages?

  The Windows.old folder has two objectives:
  (1) can be used to uninstall Windows 7 and return your PC to the previous version of Windows.
  (2) contains all your photos, documents and personal data files. Etc.

  If you don't need either of these two options can delete the Windows.old folder.

  Note: Option to change Windows Explorer to see the Windows.old folder:

  My OE has simply been replaced by Windows Mail.  I managed to set up the new account; However, I am unable to find my old mails, contacts; etc. and import them into Windows Mail.  I understood that they can be hidden and have a dbx extension but my research all say no .dbx file... I am running Vista

  I have a backup mail Outlook Express file I am trying to import into Windows Mail.  I can open the dbx files but not, of course, to open them. I followed faithfully all the import steps, checked to make sure that all the files in the folder are readable (even copied to a new location to check). All the import steps seem to work fine, folders (Inbox), sent, etc. come in the form of files imported as it should-, but with none of the messages!

  I read many messages of help about it in various forums. Obviously there is something that I always hurt, but I'm at my wit's end. Any help will be appreciated.

  I'm afraid that if I upgrade the form Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail, I will lose all e-mail addresses in my address book current as well as the information contained in the files - models etc.

  If you install WLMail on your XP machine, it has to import messages and addresses automatically and nothing will be lost of OE.
