Outlook express password problem

I have a xp tablet and I can't express outlook to connect to att.net.  I have all the protocols pop3 and smtp settings corect, but it keeps rejecting my password - which I know is correct.  What should do?  I checked all the settings, and I can access att account via webmail, but outlook express 6 on windows xp tablet will not accept the password.

Maybe something here will help.

You must use the same password that you would use if you have access to your messages via the Webmail of your server site. You will need to reset it with them.

  • Download Outlook Express Server problem

When I set up my Outlook Express account, I clicked "keep a copy of messages on the server. My hard drive crashed. I reinstalled my OS and implemented the OE account again.  There were about 1,000 emails saved on the server, but only about 100 downloaded when I reset OE. How can I download the remaining emails on my account?  It's a story of pop.att.yahoo.com.  Thank you.

Make sure you that check for messages every X minutes is not checked immediately. If it does not end download before the start of a new check, the download will never end. You can save later.

Now, move the message that download a user created folder. Find the location of the message store, close OE and delete the Pop3uidl.dbx file,.

Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced. Uncheck: Leave a copy of messages on the server. Then, remove the Pop3uidl.dbx file.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the Pop3uidl.dbx file and delete it.  A new one will be created automatically when you open OE and I hope that all messages will be downloaded.

    Slightly OT:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

  • How can I change my Outlook Express password

Can someone tell me how to change my password in Outlook Express?

The password that you use when you configure Outlook Express is the same as you would if you went to the website of your e-mail server. Call your ISP/mail server. They know what this password is and can help you.

  • Outlook Express 6 problem: send an email I get an error message and the email is not put in the sent items folder

Outlook Express 6, Windows XP SP 3

Problem: send an email, I get an error message and the email is not put in the sent items folder while the email (and attachments, if any) are successfully delivered to the recipient.

The full error message is always useful, but I'm sure you have damaged dbx files.

Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox and then create new folders to send and sent items box after having moved the messages you want to save to a local folder that you create.

With OE closed, find the DBX files for the items in the Outbox and sent and delete them.  New ones will be created automatically when you open OE.

    General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. • Outlook Express 6 problem

Have recently upgraded to a newer computer and put XP Professional on it. I have set up Outlook Express to send and receive e-mails.

My current problem is that once I've filled in the address line and sent an email, my detals of outgoing e-mail server are included in the address line once the email has been sent.

How can I stop my outgoing mail server info is added to the address on the mail line. ?

The simple answers please, I'm not very computer.

Outlook Express is just a simple email client. You can use, for example AOL, which is an IMAP account.

Who is your mail server? (Which is after the @ in your address.)

I've never seen what you describe here arrive, and I did EO for a long time. Set up a new identity and see if the problem persists.

File | Identity | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.

Note: Do not use the main word in the name of the new identity.

Other than that, the only other thing that comes to mind is your AV program, especially if it is the analysis of the active e-mail. Send an email to quick test with the disabled AV and see if that makes a difference.

  • Outlook Express 6 problems with multiple identities. I get my wife mail and vice versa.

Currently using Outlook Express 6. Recently set up an e-mail address for my wife with our new provider. I then created a new identity in Outlook Express for my wife. When a local retailer sent him an e-mail he went to my email and not his, even if the e-mail was sent correctly. Can someone tell me why this is happening because my phone company cannot. Thank you

  • Outlook express sending problem - I need to know how to remove a message that is too large to send

I need to know how to delete a message that is too big to send and full of images out of my outlook express, whenever I open outlook it trys to send this mail and legs up to my computer...

    Hi Shawnalmus,

Try to open outlook express offline or without connection to the network. You will be able to open the Outbox folder and delete the file.

If you have only a stuckup email in the Outbox, close outlook express and rename the Outbox.dbx file in envoi.old. To do:

    Click on start search-> all files-> Outbox.dbx, usually its in C:\Documents and Settings\Settings\Application Data\Identities\{Identity number}\Microsoft\Outlook Express.

    I hope this helps.
