page numbering even/odd

Help I have a 100 page pdf document

I need the odd page numbers 1A, 2A, 3A...

and even page numbers 1 b, 2 b, 3 b...

Basically all the front sides are a number with 'a '.

and on the rear side with 'b '.

but they all have both need to be the same number: 1a & 1B, 2A & 2B, 3A & 3B

I hope that makes sense.

You can do this by using tools > Pages > order header & footer. First, add the page number for the odd pages and then use the update feature to add page numbers. This is a reference to screen capture.

I just opened a document PDF 700 + pages in Safari and need to print the odd pages and there, but I can't see the page numbers displayed when I scroll the document. When I view the same document on an iPad, the page numbers change when I scroll but on my iMac (with the help of Safari 10) they appear not at all - and 700 + pages is a lot to go wrong! The clues how I can spend on 'display the page number?

The default Apple PDF Internet plug-in used by Safari does not display the page numbers (except if they are in the footer of the PDF document in question), and there is no setting in Safari preferences to turn on this feature. Your best bet is to download the PDF file, then open it in preview or Acrobat Reader, where the thumbnails will be the correlation to page numbers. Then you can select several arbitrary thumbnails using the control button to print those selected pages. In the Pages section of the print Panel, you select "Selected Pages in the sidebar".

The PDF Internet plug-in installed by Adobe Acrobat Reader or Pro displays the page current and total page in its turnaround Panel. If there are page numbers in the footer of the PDF file accessed, they are not deleted. You must enable Internet Adobe plug-in to Safari preferences: Security Panel.

  • Insert page numbers

I just started using Microsoft Works Word processor. Why a feature for a long time in Microsoft Word (insert page numbers) does not work?

Microsoft Works supports page numbers: it is in the header or the footer.  You don't mention what version you have. Header, footer, Page #: Click viewon the Menu bar at the top of the screen. Click on headers and footers to. Type the text that you want in the header or the footer in the appropriate window. (You can add page numbers to your document by typing& p in the header or the footer windows. After the & p or other text that you type in these windows to left-, Center-, or justify right page number or text, type & l,& c, or & r . (You can also use& f for the file name of your printed document automatically in the header or the footer). Here is an article on how to start the page numbering on page 2 rather than on page 1 in severalhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/76167versions, but the instructions you also lead to where you need to add page numbers.  Microsoft Word is a more sophisticated than Microsoft Works program and has many more features (and cost more).

Assuming that you do not want to pay for Microsoft Word or any of the Office Suites, I recommend to download and install the FREE OpenOfficewww.openoffice.org , which includes many of the most popular Microsoft Office products (Finally, programs that do the same things, but not really Microsoft) which a writer who is a comprehensive word processing program and can do almost everything that Microsoft Word can do (and more Microsoft Works can do) - including the numbering of the pages.  This is a great set of programs and again, they are FREE, so you have nothing to lose by trying of their and see if it will do the work for you.  I am sure that you prefer them on Microsoft Works and some people even they prefer on Microsoft Office (even if I personally prefer Office - probaby because I'm used to it as much as anything else).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

    Hi mugdhak92569568,

Please note that Acrobat Reader for mobile applications, for iOS and Android screen physical (starting from 1) page numbers page not labels (i, ii, iii, iv) or logical page numbers.

So, even if you change the labels on the page of your PDF using Acrobat Pro/Standard (paid in desktop application), the first page number displayed in Acrobat Reader mobile applications will always be 1.

  • Script dynamic Page numbering does not work on pages with engineered?

I work in Acrobat Pro XI on a document of 4 pages with a button that allows a page template will be inserted after page 3.  I created a button for this, and it works fine.  But each page has a text field that is supposed to automatically update all the page numbers.  The code looks like this:

    Event.Value = "page" + (event.target.page + 1) + "of" + this.numPages; ""

    calculateNow();

On the four pages visible when the file is opened it works perfectly; they will update "Page 1 of 4" to "1 of 5", etc. without any problems.  However, the inserted template pages are very random.  Sometimes the firstbegotten will work and say Page 4 of 5, but sometimes he will say Page 0/4.  It is worth noting that even when he says Page 4 of 5 print this page shows that this saying Page 0 out of 4 again.  And all additional pages triggered after which lists a bunch of random numbers on the right number of pages.  So it will look like "Page 7, 6, 5, 4, 31 9.

I search by a large number of questions already asked and have not seen enough.

If you want to add a new page with each press of the button, you can simplify the code:

    getTemplate("Addittional_Collaborators").spawn (numPages, true, false);

but you need to add code to define correctly the ' page x of y "field values. Post again if you have trouble with this part.

  • Get page numbers to properly on distributions of left-right

I have a document with 5 pages of "forematter": a the title Page, that I have no page number as a section, and then a section 2 section containing the copyright page, dedication page and two-page table of contents, page numbers in Roman numerals.

Then the meat of the book as a 3rd section, the page numbers in Arabic numerals in standard.

    Here are my pages window:

An odd page number must be on the right side of a spread in LTR languages, as is standard. To empty pages, you will need to insert a blank page.

  • Problem: Right to left Page numbers

    Hello

I created a document of 24 pages in Indesign 2015.0 version (Mac version, English), with the to pages. Page numbering starts with the first page. The problem is that on the left-hand pages, the page number is reversed (i.e. "61" instead of "16"). I searched for hours and watched on the internet, no answer.

    Can you help me?

    Thank you

    Jonas

    You have CS5?

The text block has 1 or 3 rounded corners?

This is the case, you must upgrade to a later version or avoid rounded corners with an odd number in a text frame. This is clearly a bug.

  • How can I add page numbers to PDF printouts?

    No,

Once more, a little exploration and detective respond to my question; If a page is empty, he gets a page number. Most of my text is on the odd pages, with a few running on the next page - same.

    Fact.

  • I'm trouble getting the automatic page numbering and TOC to play nice.

    Hello

    I use Indesign CC 2014.

I created a book, consisting of several separate Indesign documents. The page number for the majority of the documents resets to 1, even though the settings are correctly defined:

    1st Screenshot at Aug 15 15-56-14.png

The screenshot above shows the second document in the book. The page numbers in the document are properly leaving page 13, as long as the previous document finished at 12.

But see how the book file shows the numbers restart from 1. And they do the same thing on the table of contents:

    3rd Screenshot at Aug 15 16-03-15.png

Here are the numbers .indb option settings:

    2nd Screenshot at Aug 15 15-59-45.png

I think I have these configured correctly, and yet the book file shows each page 1 reset.

All the documents have the same exact Document number Options, as I showed earlier.

I even tried to create a file of book .indb nine, but the problem remains.

I sent the .idml the version files to a friend who has Indesign cs5, and she said they were numbered everything correctly on the two real pages and in the table of contents - she had absolutely no problem on its version. So there must be another parameter/overide/bug on my system that causes this problem.

I'd love help on how to fix this please.

    Thank you

    Glynne

    Problem solved!

I came across this post (Re: automatic numbering does not work in the files of the book of) and the fix was: preferences-> General-> Page numbers and put it in the Section numbering. I had already been advised to have as absolute numbering, but once I changed it, the problem is resolved.

  • FrameMaker2015 - Page numbers in the mess after the printing of 'last leaf' first.

There seems to be no facility to reverse the order of page numbers when creating long Arabic & Hebrew documents and where the pages are to be attached at the end of a series of normal pages left to right .

I was hoping this would be an automatic feature - for executives of 8-12 in Arabic, I had to save the document to the Mif and run a VERY complex program that extracts the folio box and puts managers folio on pages of body that then let me reverse the order of page number to hand.

Post edited by: Bob Wallace to change from RTL to LTR

I think that you have to maintain the FM document sequentially even for Arabic pages i.e. Page 91 should be the first page of Arabic and so on. Now the booklet and PDF can be generated as follows:

    • When the booklet, you can select 'last leaf first' to Arabic range(91-100), and this page can be added with the other pages(1-90) LTR. For the booklet page numbers would look like 1, 2, 3... 90, 100, 99... 91 and so when the Arab user would read the Arabic content in the booklet, he would begin reading the content of page 91 and for him that the page number would increase also 91 to 100, he was reading.
    • For the PDF, you can directly generate the PDF file.

Let me know if that makes sense.

    Thank you!

  • Page numbers hidden behind objects

I got simple pagination running on a master page A. I'm insertion of pdf into pages and they are superimposed to the numbering of pages. I got with simply cut a corner on pdf, but this seems to be a real space-saving solution. I tried to make several layers on the master page of the objects as well as reorganization, nothing helps.

This was a problem even with earlier versions of inDesign. Must be a simple solution for this!

You must use the layers panel and put the page numbers on a top layer in the stacking order.

  • Headers and Page numbers

So, I'm super new to inDesign and layout in general. I'm doing my first book and learn a LOT from my mistakes.

So here is the current problem. I don't think page numbers and headers before doing just about everything else. I'm almost done about everything else. I have the project as "spreads" because I had no idea who was a thing to differently than a few 'pages '. I did not masks, and I'm under the impression that it's too late to do it now. So I'm imagining having to manually in a little box of text in a line at the top of each page to put the header and page number. But, I can't imagine how to do this when there is already text in the text box full main page. Is there an easy way to take care of this? I have even how this the hard way?

    Oh yes, I use CS3.

It's never too late to add the automatic numbering of pages to a master page. Most likely all your pages use currently the Master has, so add your text block and add the current page marker. That's all it takes.

  • Panel of page numbering

    Hello indesigners.

I have a spreads.and 10 fact im, trying to get my book to start from the page numbers of

page 6 and beyond.i insert on my pages current page number.whic's counting perfect mastrer

    Thanks to my spreads.the the only thing is I want to page 6 and beyond 1 2 3 4 5 6.

but when I opened the numbering and section options, when I type in the start page of 6 Numbering dialog box

    page 6 becomes 12! instead of 1.

    Thank you.

    U2A.jpg

Do you have selected 6 page to start a new section?

Once you make that page 6 should become a new page 1, and two things will happen, when you press OK. ID complain of duplicate page numbers, which can be fixed by going back to the first page in the doc, opeing options numbering again and by changing the style of the numbers and each of you pages after the fifth one will change of camp and you will see two pages of right in a line in the pages of the Panel.

ID do not put odd on the verso (left-hand page) numbers as it goes against tradition and player expectations. It can be done, but in my opinion you should really add a blank instead if you have five pages of preliminary pages before the beginning of the document. If you really want to swap sides with numbering, before changing the numbering options, select the spread, do a right click and unchek allow selected spread to Shuffle. DFI asked if you want to keep the same number of pages in the spread, say Yes.
