Page numbers to sit on top of photos

I created a document with page numbers included in the Master pages, when I place a picture full page in - it obscures the page number. How much better to have the page numbers of graphic files first and foremost place in my document?

Thank you

Open the layers panel and place the numbers below the slide show or slide show above the numbers.

Be aware that the layers are at the level of the site not pagewide.

  • added page numbers to the Master Page. How to make top layer?

    Hello

I've added the page to a new Master Page... numbers and works well.  But on these pages that have a column color at the outer edge (part of the design), the page number is hidden.

I think I read in an article that I simply need to choose my numbers 'holders' on my Master Page page and make a part of the top layer.

If that is correct, then I am close.  But would someone kindly advise me how to do this?  I did experiments in the tab layers, but see no obvious way to get there.

    Thank you very much

    Malcolm

Create a new layer in the layers tab and drag it to the top if it is not already there. Select your page numbers and (in the layers palette), grasp the point that appears next to the layer where are your items and drag it to the layer where you want them to be.

  • "Assignment of a top layer of the object on the master" (master page numbers) I understand the layer must be up to show above images placed on the pages, but how can I do this?

I have added page numbers to my master pages. They appear on the pages, but I have images on the individual pages which cover the numbers. I understand that I must assign a top layer of the object, but I don't understand how to do it. Please help me? Please explain a just clear as possible, I read the other replies but still do not understand. Wish it was as simple as select object, do a right-click, edit the layer!

    Thank you very much!

    1. open the layers panel (window > layers)

    2. in the control panel menu, choose new layer. In the dialog box, you can name the layer if you like Page numbers.

    3. on your main page, select the text block with the selection tool (black arrow tool) page numbers.

    4. If you now look at the layers panel, you will see a small square right of one of your layers (or 1 layer if you have not created any new layers). Drag instead of the layer of Page numbers. [Explanation: the square is a "proxy" for the selected objects.] [Drag to the other layer moves the objects on this layer.]

    Good luck!

When I print a document from a Web site, it prints everything except the page - the numbers on the pages. Why they are missing, they are part of the document? Anyone has a solution.

  • CS5.5 - Page numbers in another type

    Hi guys,.

Say I chose for the body of the text and the page numbers of my next book police Minion Pro, but I wish the numbers were in glyphs. Font numbers instead of the normal police watch, just as it is by default in the cast of the Georgia (you know, 1, 4, 7, 8 with beautiful top-down and bottom-up) which I use now. In the main body of the text, I can just change each instance manually - and maybe there is a way to automate this process, but it's okay as I won't have many figures in there (that's a photo book on Venice, I do).

However, I did understand how to use other type in page numbers, because the letters that appear instead of on the Master Page humbers simply do not have the equivalent of "old figures".

Before choosing a different font altogether for the page numbers, you have a tip on how to do this? I'm pulling some hair remains above this.

    Thank you very much!

As you can see I have selected the marker and applied font proportional figure formatting. It seems no different from the master page.

  • Insert page numbers

I just started using Microsoft Works Word processor. Why a feature for a long time in Microsoft Word (insert page numbers) does not work?

Microsoft Works supports page numbers: it is in the header or the footer.  You don't mention what version you have. Header, footer, Page #: Click viewon the Menu bar at the top of the screen. Click on headers and footers to. Type the text that you want in the header or the footer in the appropriate window. (You can add page numbers to your document by typing& p in the header or the footer windows. After the & p or other text that you type in these windows to left-, Center-, or justify right page number or text, type & l,& c, or & r . (You can also use& f for the file name of your printed document automatically in the header or the footer). Here is an article on how to start the page numbering on page 2 rather than on page 1 in severalhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/76167versions, but the instructions you also lead to where you need to add page numbers.  Microsoft Word is a more sophisticated than Microsoft Works program and has many more features (and cost more).

Assuming that you do not want to pay for Microsoft Word or any of the Office Suites, I recommend to download and install the FREE OpenOfficewww.openoffice.org , which includes many of the most popular Microsoft Office products (Finally, programs that do the same things, but not really Microsoft) which a writer who is a comprehensive word processing program and can do almost everything that Microsoft Word can do (and more Microsoft Works can do) - including the numbering of the pages.  This is a great set of programs and again, they are FREE, so you have nothing to lose by trying of their and see if it will do the work for you.  I am sure that you prefer them on Microsoft Works and some people even they prefer on Microsoft Office (even if I personally prefer Office - probaby because I'm used to it as much as anything else).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • How to get page numbers in toc shift to the right

    Hello

I'm working on a table of contents and try to get the (3, 4, 5, 7) page numbers against the level 1 and level 2] headers to the right. I don't know how to proceed. I would appreciate your help.

    Lee is the screenshot:

    toc.PNG

    Thank you

You should have a tab between the number of para and text entry, as well as between the text and the page number, but do not display your text symbols (Type > show hidden characters) so I can't see them. Assuming they are there and the two paras TOC use header level 1 and level 2 header by styles (just uncertain of the page, but if I have a para tag names wrong, just replace the good):

    1. Click on the first line of the table of contents.
    2. Type > tabs.
    3. Set a left tab align the left edge of the text entry and a tab right-align by a point of the leader of the page number. (To add: select the type of tab in the tab at the top on the left, then click on above the rule.) You can drag them left/right to move. A selected tab is highlighted in blue or orange, and you can add the point of leading to a selected tab.)
    4. With the cursor on the first line, right-click on the name of the style and redefine the style so that the other 1-level headers are updated.
    5. On the second line, drag the left triangle below to indent the line (the upper triangle comes along for the ride). Adds a tab on the left for text entry and a right tab by a point behind the leader for the number of page, under step 3 above.
    6. Level 3 header and Style to redefine a right click.
    7. Fact!

  • Is it possible to print page numbers in a fixed location?

Is it possible to print page numbers in a fixed location (for example at the top of the page), regardless of the layout? I assemble orders of the day and the page layout documents differ. I need the page numbers to print on the top of the document and changing according to the layout. Thank you!

Yes, but it takes using a script that will look at the size of the page

and will determine where to place the number of page based on them. Of course

You can use relative terms, such as 1 inch from the left edge and 0.5

    inches at the top, etc.

  • In the book module page numbers are the same color as the text of the title. How can I change the color of the page numbers in black?

In the book module page numbers are the same color as the text of the title and I would like that the numbering of the pages to be black. How can I do this?

Click the mouse cursor exactly on a Page number where it appears on a page.

Set the color of the characters in the Type Panel.

"Type" parameters are related to each field Photo text, the text of the Page text, text number of pages, which allows you to set the Style of individual text for each of these three "areas".

  • Script to remove all the images, text blocks, and the page numbers on a layer

I have a 364 pages with 322 illustrations, photographs mainly, for offset printing.

The photographs will be be overprinted with the varnish on a plate in the fifth, and I set it up as follows:

On a new layer, (double layer 1) all photos are removed, but not their mounts.

The frames are then filled with 100% black.

All text blocks and page numbers must also be deleted.

  • Indexing - transfer of page numbers

    Indexing question

After having a terrible time of indexing of a book.

I do not use the indexing InDesign feature because it requires knowing the structure of the index as we create the book. Without object in the structure of this book.

Background: book see: 29 chapters, 490 pages. Running an iMac on OS 10.6, using InDesign CS 5.

In the menus of the book 'Book Page number Options' is set at: order of pages i), continue from previous document.

In the drop down menu layout the numbering and Section Options, are set to: automatically update Page and Section numbers, the "New article" the automatic Page Numbering box is checked.

These are the settings under which I wrote the book. Has not had a problem with page numbers 'exploitation '.

Question: Now for some reason any page numbers are not "stable". For example, this morning when I resumed indexing Ch. 12 had numbers page 125-162 and Ch, 13 had page numbers 161-176. It took some time to convince InDesign started by Ch. 13 on page 163.

I can't keep the re-indexing. Almost out of resources. Guess I have something wrong in the page number for the indexing selections?

    For any help... Thank you

    Thomas

Looking for a small triangle at the top of the page that starts the renumbering.  Double click on it will bring up the issues of dialogue and Sections.

  • To add page numbers in Acrobat XI

I have a big file of 1000pages I need now numbered. I can't see/find how to do this. When I use "Number of Pages" he numbers not real pages, but the pages of the browser (the thing at the top) - I need the pages numbered. Any help that I enjoyed.

    Hi Desiree8,

Open the PDF in Acrobat, choose Tools > Edit PDF, Header & Footer > Add

To insert page numbers or the current date, click in a box and then click the corresponding buttons. To select setting in the form of automatic postings, click on Format of Date and Page number.

    • To specify the pages on which the header and footer appear, click Page range Options. Specify a range of pages, then choose a subset option, as required
    • Review the results in the Preview area, using the Preview Page to see the different pages of the PDF file.
    • (Optional) To save these settings header and footer for later use, click Save settings at the top of the dialog box.
    • (Optional) To apply the same settings to additional PDFs, click apply to multiple files. ClickAdd files, choose Add files or Add open filesand select the files. In the Output Optionsdialog box, specify your folder and filename Preferences, and then click OK.

  • How will we move page numbers just a bit when they are not defined by using a master page?

Forgive me if this is super obvious, but I am very new and meet with an INDIVIDUAL who has a hard time finding.

So I have a book w / page centered at the bottom of each page numbers. This seems to remain separated from body text. My understanding is that the best way to manage the headers and footers is the master pages feature, but one that has made this book, all of these master pages left blank. I'm not sure how they apply page numbers.

I can easily select page numbers, one at a time and move them up to 5pts, but is there a way to make it more automated? If this isn't the case, it is more precisely, it is a way to move ALL content on all pages to the top of 5 points instead?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Apart from via a script, no there is no way to do this in InDesign. According to the number of pages you have, I simply add the page number automatic on master pages and then erase individual numbers on each page. In this way, you can move them easily in the future. To insert the automatic page number, draw a text frame on the master page and choose text > insert special character > markers > current Page number. If it is a document of face page, copy it into the two pages in the position you want.
