Pavilion a6334f: old computer Upgrade

Hello

I gave this pc to a family member after reinstalling Vista of original discs. What we would like to know, is if it is still possible to buy a legal copy of Windows 7 for her. If this isn't the case, it would be better, buy a copy of Windows 8.1 or jump directly to Windows 10?

Thank you

Hello

Thanks for posting in the HP Support forum.

According to the information here > > http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-a6000-Desktop-PC-series/3644673/model/3645664

HP does not officially support Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 - only Vista - on this computer model.

Therefore, if you install latest Windows, there may be an incompatibility re. drivers missing, incompatible hardware... something may not work correctly.

However, if you wish, you can create a copy of your data and you can try with Windows 10. Although it is not officially supported, Microsoft could have drivers and it could install. You can get free demo of 90 days to win 10 Enterprise edition from here and try free for 90 days > > https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-10-enterprise

Installing Windows 10 poster, here's how to install the drivers using Windows Update and Device Manager > > how > > http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03330139

If Windows 10 does not work, you can always roll back to Vista (using the original disks you mention).

I hope this helps.

  • Internet on hp pavilion a614n, old computer screen problems

    I am running XP, IE8

I accidentally hit a key on my keyboard a key 'F' or more likely a key above the "Fs".  When I visit most of the sites, the bars at the top (those with back arrows, file, edit, Favorites, AND the status bar at the bottom: early across time disappear!)

To get a partial bar at the top, I have to move my cursor up there to go to Favorites close or minimize.   There is no file, edit, view, tools or help with the partial bar.   If I put my cursor in the middle of the page, the top bar disappears again.

In other words, it give me the Web page on the entire screen!  Can I change this back?

  • Is it still possible to upgrade Windows Me on a very old computer?

Using an old computer as a spare and it has windows installed and am running out of my router, but if I can get it only updated to vista or something more recent would be great for the children.  I looked, and from what I understand, ME and 98 no longer in the system, and not a lot you can do about them.  Am I stuck with windows me on this computer for ever?

    Minipete

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/Windows-Vista/get/system-requirements.aspx

Above is the minimum Vista System Hardware Configuration required to run the operating system.

Most older computers have not the modern requirements of material in support of Vista or Windows 7.

And it becomes very expensive try to upgrade.

An alternative best cheap and reliable (don't forget your motherboard is nearly 10 years old), is to buy a new computer with Vista or Windows7 pre-installed, Windows 7 preference, as is the latest operating system and an improvement over Vista.

  • Zero/upgrade old computer reset caused by viruses

I recently got an old computer, a laptop Samsung NP-N210 32 bit system model that was purchased in 2009 and only has not been used since 2014, who had HIV and perhaps other things like malware, so I used a lot of antivirus software and uninstall programs to try to fix it the best I could. Now, it seems that the majority of issues have disappeared, but I think that reset the PC would be the best option to remove any thing left but I do not have a backup OS. I tried to download from Microsoft, but the code at the bottom of the computer did not work and I do not have a disk of windows backup 7. Also, I don't see the model of the computers on the Samsung website. Because of this I tried to see if the update to windows 10 would work, because it creates a backup that allows the PC to be reset, but whenever I start it, it can't go beyond the upgrade/obtain conclusion part. I also want to state that there is some pictures and other things I didn't wan't lose but if the solution through the ability to remove media while you'll be fine.

I backed up my files and used the 4 Samsung recovery solution to reset. It seems to work now.

  • We bought a new computer with Windows 7. Can I sell the box Windows 7 Upgrade CD that we used for his old computer?

Computer of my wife is dead, so I did a new one supplied with Windows 7 already installed.  Can I sell the box Windows 7 Upgrade CD I bought for his old computer?  We no longer use this license - we pulled the hard drive of the old computer OS and make it like a secondary on his new computer.  If the license is no longer used by us - or it will never again - but I do not know if someone would experience difficulties to activate if they we bought because I do not know if we can 'turn off' the old license.

Yes, you can sell it, you will need to inform the seller that they may have to use the phone activation because it was already in use:

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    (6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

  • Upgrade graphics card for HP Pavilion A6720Y desktop computer

I have the HP Pavilion A670Y desktop computer and was thinking of upgrading the graphics card GeForce 9100 integrated to a Radeon HD5850 and adding a new power which would allow this change. Power side is there a reason that my office would not be able to support the Radeon HD5850?

It's your motherboard.  Make sure that the slot next to the PCI-E x 16 card is open as 5850 is a wide double card.  Your PC has only a 300 watt PSU so 5850 is only in need of a much larger power supply.  Look at the 12 + rating required by the 5850 and then choose the new modular power supply.  Buy not only on power alone.

Your PC has a practice of small Tower and the 5850 will consume more power (wattage) compared to your existing integrated video processor which means more heat. Be prepared to deal with this issue.  The 5850 is perhaps too card for your PC.

Don't forget that your PC system BIOS is up to date.

Open your Pc and clean all the dust. Then a measure of your current diet and buy one that is modular with almost the same dimensions.  Then measure around the PCI-E x 16 slot to make sure that the card fits.

Review the specifications of performance ATI and NVIDIA . Look at the specifications of strip memory bandwidth and level of DirectX support.

How to replace a power supply.

  • Cannot access the data on the old hard drive - old computer is dead

I just bought new HP Pavilion a6547c desktop computer.  My old computer doesn't turn on.  Have hard drive in HP Tower.

Computer recognizes it - are there files - but I can't access it.

Have fallen by security and attempted to change the property - but get "unable to display current owner" from the old drive.

Someone knows how to fix this?

    Hi DebbyO

Please download and install the fix from the following link.

  • Firefox 8 will work on my old computer (AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3700 +; 2.21 GHz; 896 KMB of Ram). Should I spend (Firefox 3) or will I have problems if I do?

I have an old computer (the system is: AMD Athlon 64 processor, 3700 +; 2.21 GHz, 896 MB of RAM). I have not upgraded yet of Firefox 3. My system is compatible with the upgrade to Firefox 8? Should I upgrade or will I have problems if I do?

    http://www.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/8.0/system-requirements/

Your processor supports SSE2 and has more than the minimum RAM recommended, if material wise you are OK. As long as you have SP3 in Windows XP, it looks good for compatibility.

  • Is it legal to use and the version of Windows XP OEM from an old computer (to be retired) to the lower-grade a Vista to XP computer?

(I have a few Win XP computers running the great. And I like Win XP.)

    Here's the situation:

I have also a Vista computer and a very very old computer Win XP.  This computer very very old win XP has been in the dust of basement collection and will be sent to the recycling center.

    Question:

The two Vista and old Win XP computers came with the OEM version of windows.  (Not the retail version.)

Is it legal to use the Windows XP from this very old (to be retired) computer to down-grade the Vista to XP computer?

(Will do that if it is not legal.)

    Thank you

    Skip

Sorry, no. You cannot move an OEM license on another computer.

You can move the windows on a new computer

If it's a full license or upgrade retail - Yes. You can move it to another computer as long as it is installed on one computer at a time (and if it's a version upgrade the new Windows computer must have its own license of qualification). The previous Windows installation on your old computer must be formatted or deleted. You will have to perhaps call Microsoft and explain what happened to complete activation. Turning it on the second computer will automatically be in effect 'disable' the license for the first computer.

If it's an OEM license - don't. OEM licenses, including Windows preinstalled on a computer before purchase and Windows purchased separately, are related to the first computer, they are installed on and cannot be transferred to another computer. To install Windows on another computer, you will need to buy another copy.

I have an old computer use more, but I need to get some documents but I don't remember the username to connect to windows and there is no index. How can I connect

    Hi joedoerksen,

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Start the computer in safe mode. Built-in Administrator account would be displayed on the Welcome screen. Choose the account administrator and you should be able to boot to the desktop, if you have not set a password for the default Administrator account.

Method 2: If you have set a password for the default Administrator account, then the only option is to go for a parallel installation of Windows XP and retrieve documents.
