On my laptop cooling fan makes a terrible uproar, and I know that I need to replace.  I also know that I need the fan WITH the heatsink cooling. But online sources give a variety of part numbers and I don't know which is correct.

Please provide the manufacturer AND recommended retailers.  See phone details below.    Thank you in advance!

  • Pavilion dv6 3230us cooling fan replacement?

Cooling for my Pavilion dv6 3230 fan recently stopped working and I need to find a replacement. However, the part number is not across radiator fan itself. Also, I was not able to find the part number by using the site Web of HP Partsurfer, or by searching for third-party Web sites.

Anyone have any suggestions for how to find a replacement radiator fan that will be compatible with my laptop?

    Thanks in advance

The manual is not very useful. This is one of them:

    Graphic memory UMA 603690-001

UMA graphics memory with a processor 633384-001

Your model has the processor soldered to the motherboard and card graphics UMA so I think this is the first.

I had these google images by using the part numbers and they look the same to me, but you can compare to yours.

  • HP Pavilion 15-ab157nr: new 15-ab157nr laptop HP Pavilion moan of cooling fan

My new laptop 15-ab157nr of HP Pavilion fan has a moan that I don't remember having on my old laptop HP G62-340US.  It may be that I am just sensitive to noise on a new computer, but I was wondering if anyone else has this problem.

The BIOS update was scary to see, but it went well.  Its cooling fan may have changed a bit, and then maybe I'm getting used to the sound.  Thanks for your help!

  • Laptop Pavilion g6 troubled cooling fan

My laptop (1c58dx g6) guard stop and gives me an error message on the cooling fan. The fan has completely stopped working or slowed down a lot. It's more as it comes up for a second and then stops completely for a few seconds again and again. I don't know if that's how the fans usually ruin if they are blocked or not. So, I spent all last night holding my cell phone out to join fan cooling to clean junk out of it and then put it back together again. It's not like there was there to cause problems, but I cleaned to the best of my ability without taking the fan itself out. However, it was without result. The same thing happens again. Do you think that if I took part the fan that I could find and remove the Junk incriminated in the fan, or do you think the problem is something else? If you disassemble the fan itself can help, could you tell me all instructions on remove and put back together, again please?

    Hello @BL00 ,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you have some problems of fan and are wondering how to remove it for better cleaning.

Here is a guide who can guide you safely remove the fan: HP Pavilion G6 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service of Guide. You will find the steps begin on page 77.

It might also help to go through this document, but it seems that you already have most of this: reduce the heat inside the PC to prevent overheating.

In fact, you need to replace the fan altogether. References are available in the guide above and you can find them among a wide range of online providers. If your laptop is still under warranty, you can also contact the HP support by phone for parts or service options. You can contact HP Technical Support at 1-800-474-6836 in North America. Hope this helps!

  • Pavilion g7-1368dx "cooling fan does not work correctly.

Greetings. I have a HP Pavilion g7-1368dx laptop with Windows 7 I bought in June 2012, is no longer under warranty.

A few weeks ago he had a thermal cut-out once during use. After cooling, the laptop works very well for a few uses, but then it has started giving the boot warning message, "the system has detected that a cooling fan is not working properly," with an additional indication of the damage if the computer is used in this State.

I ordered a new fan and succeeded him, and I cleaned the fan grille in the process (although it wasn't very dirty), but I still get the same fan error message. I went to the HP website and saw the suggestion to do a "hard reset", so I did it, but the problem persists.

I saw another suggestion to try a BIOS update, but I thought that would not be desirable because the fan does not work. Suggest you go through with the attempt to update the BIOS anyway?

Is there something else I can try before ordering a new card system?

    Thanks for your help.

Step 03. Press and hold the power button of the laptop for a minute

Step 04. Now re - insert the battery back in and plug again the power supply/adapter

Step 05. Start Notepad and keep pressing the F10 key during startup to access the BIOS

Step 06. Once you get the BIOS, please press F5 to load the default Installer for BIOS

Step 07. Now press ESC/ESC. Save Changes and Exit - Yes

Step 08. Now please wait unit loads Windows and then stop the Netbook again

  • How to access and replace a pavilion dv7-3173nr cooling fan?

Pavilion dv7-3173nr member of my family had a cooling fan stop working. This has been noticed during my usual maintenance of it where I take a can of compressed air and spray to clean the fan. As he hit the air I was expecting the fan to turn but it did not. I've then turn it on to see if it would turn but it would turn still not. The warranty just missed in recent weeks and the manuals and other resources that I've found so far do not help. If someone could tell me how to access the fan for this model, it would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

  • HP Pavilion dv7-6151sd: cooling fan not working - 90 b (dv7-6151sd) error code

    Hi @mac12345678 ,

Welcome to the HP Forums! I hope you have a great experience with us.

I see that you are looking for instructions on replacing your fan. I'll be able to help you with that. Here is your Maintenance and Service of Guide on page 91, you can find instructions on how to remove it. Since you have an Intel processor there are three potential fans for replacement, I'm not 100% that is ideal for your model. I would recommend giving us a call, and the agent on the line should help with that. You can reach HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or Start here if you live outside of North America.

  • Pavilion dv7-6c60us: issue of replacement to the Pavilion dv7-6c60us cooling fan

Hi, so I was very sick, and having a TON of medical procedures made and until they are made my phone is my lifeline and my entertainment, etc.  So a few months back I started getting the dreaded cooling fan error 90 b at random, but now it's every time you start, I built workstations for 3D animation and editing of film/TV (which I do) from scratch and I replaced my previous laptop motherboard Dell, but it's been a while and I'm mixes returns on the research of some saying that it is easy to just replace the fan, pop the switch out, replace it and you are made to these step by step guides, saying: he basically have to go all the way to the motherboard to replace just the fan.  I wanted to just go straight to the horses mouth so to speak and know, because given my health unstable and "convalescent" until I got better in VERY VERY RURAL NC it is now a doubtful 'authorized repair shop' which is little far from me, I wonder if it is only involved should I just let - keeping in mind , I have medical bills piling up and a lot of know how myself, but maybe not the stamina, or should I hard outside - year how "hard" is to just replace the fan.  The left side of the laptop last week became really hot to the touch, whereas before there were 90 b but there was no significant difference and the unit still works, and that's all that I have here PC / computer wise and cannot not simply run out and purchase all replacement until after I'm better that might be 4 months or more? Help?

Replace a fan in a book involves a complete disassembly of the laptop.

If you don't have the patience and thoroughness to disassemble and reassemble then the laptop to a State because of your physical condition, I would recommend having a shop to do it for you. Consider cloning hard drive to a storage device before you leave the shop to have it.

  • HP pavilion 550-500na: HP pavilion 550-500na cooling

OK after doing some research, I think about upgrading my Pavilion for a GTX 970 ITX nvidia graphics card

with a privateer RM650 RM PSU, but my main concern is most of the cooling time, I already made the mistake of trying to fit a 970 GTX full size on this case, and it did not fit xD

But seeing that the ITX model is more than half of the full size one is a little more of 17cm in length and 13cms width its got enough space but:

I don't know if my case is positive or negative air pressure and that its cooling would be sufficient for the PSU and itx gtx 970

so the baseline is: what is the air pressure from my case and cooling would be sufficient?

any help would be apprieciated thx in advance

again help is appreciated most thx in advance

"btw nice of air from the fan/modulator, but I don't think that made above GTX 970 itx in my current case, space would be very tight with the new power supply if I did."

I understand what you mean about space.  The only reason that I was showing you the 6200 case was because the processor is in a different place on the motherboard and the PCI-e slot too.  I don't think you can work with your current setup very well really, but I can understand why you want the cooling capacity more.

You mention that with your new power supply, wouldn't you have so much space (sorry if you meant something else), but it should be the same size than what you have now dimension-wise.  In addition, set the fan in the power supply should not be a problem at all.  That said, you're going to have the same configuration of motheboard even if you're 100% to get a new case, so all moves will be the same.  Because it is true, perhaps that the PCI corsair fan could be part of your cooling solution.

One thing to note is the orientation of your motherboard in individual cases.  Some cases are mounting right to motherboard and some are left.  Your case is a montage of the left side.  Most of the new PC games seems to be mount on the right side.  It makes a difference in the direction of that graphic card fan will point.  NOW stop and think what I want power supply high or low POWER supply?  In the reverse case, now that your graphics card will point down (right side of mounting of the motherboard), a bottom mounted PSU will mean PSU below the graphics card instead of exhaust fan.  So, if you find a case that is top of the power supply and then exhaust under the graphics card fan, seems to graphics go quickly.  On the other hand your processor is stuck up above the graphics card in a dead spot.  For sure, I guess you should go with low POWER supply as in the case of the Corsair.  Anyway, hot air rises, so it's best to have the high fan.

You have a weird dead task below your graphics (above the graphics card in your current case), where is the best you can do to remove covers (brides) PCI slot.  Anyway, even in a new case, I kind of fan slot an it.  It would still be between the graphics card and PSU, but this would actually serve to protect the power supply of warm air to the graphics card to a degree.  Just something to think about this.

These cases are very sharp.  I like a lot, even if they are quite expensive.  But you get what you pay for and all that.

  • Pavilion P6240F: HP Pavilion p6240f Cpu Cooler

I have a HP Pavilion P6240F.  The two screws for the broken cpu fan and now when I turn on the computer, it makes a rattling noise.  I need to know what the original CPU cooler with heat sink, or one that matches it.

What is actually broken?  The plastic guard mounted fan? The fairing plastic? The shroud has also 4 screws.

Fan attaches to the plastic fairing with 4 screws. The shroud bolts to the bottom of the metal heatsink to the motherboard. Between the radiator and the actual motherboard is the processor.  A thin layer of thermal grease combines the heatsink and processor.

The set is part # 5187-8413. It may be google.

No error msg but battery must charge more now then before. Fan comes on after a very short time.

The aging of the battery shortens the battery life. Normal. Regarding the fan turns more - cleaned the laptop lately with compressed air? If not pick up a can and use the tiny drop of water that comes with it to blow all the mouths, ports and other openings to make sure it has good airflow for cooling.

With regard to the spare part numbers: I think your is with switchable graphics, so you need to order the premiera.
