PC failure forced me to a new pc win 7. Help transfer contacts

The motherboard of the pc under XP failed, but the hard drive is readable.

I have now got new pc with win7 and I consulted the old hard drive and transferred files from windows live mail and imported in the history of the e-mail.

I can't find my contacts that can be moved to win7. Where do I go and how can I transfer the old hard drive?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

On my XP system, they are stored in C:\Documents and settings\userid\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Contacts\Default\15.4\DBStore\Contacts.EDB Live.

If you do not, you could do a search for the DBStore folder or simply the Contacts.EDB file because that is where it is.  That is the good news.  The other news is that, when I double-click the Contacts.EDB file, Windows could not find a program to open it.  I don't know if there will be a program around that or is there a way to get Windows Live Mail to open, which is where the contacts are.

One thing you could do would be to some of your emails existing right click, then click "add to contacts".  It's perhaps easier than trying to get the content of the Contacts.EDB file.

Good luck.
