PDF forms are returned in the vacuum after that that they are completed by the client.

Forms of reading PDF

Not sure where the problem is, be it in Windows, Office or Outlook. What is happening is that I have some forms that have been created using Office 10 and then converted to PDF with Adobe. I send the forms to a customer, it fills them and send in return. When I get the form, she seems to be empty, when I click on a line or area, the data is displayed. I talked to one of the clients, they had a Mac. They filled out the form and sent to themselves and it worked fine, they have sent to me and it was empty. All ideas, these forms are very important and am at a loss. Doc or Docx files were much less compatible with the general public, so the pdf was selected to give the broadest compaibility.  I must also make known, that most of the people using the forms, fill them out and send them to us, everything works fine. I managed to send back a guy who had a problem and he was quite in computer science and was the MAC, he had no idea as well and I'm not really able to say if it is only with people who use MACSs we cannot read their forms.

At first I thought it was a police matter, but if I click on the box that appears to be empty, the data will appear, but if I click on another line or box, the previous data are hidden and that data will be displayed on the line/box that I click on. If I print the form none of the full customer data are printed.

I have dozens and dozens of forms filled by other customers who appear fine and print correctly.

Thank you

I have no idea on Macs. I know there are disasters sometimes when files are exchanged between a Windows and Mac (seen all the time with folk in College) system.

There may be experts in the adobe forums (it may be useful to post the problem here too).

    All I want to do is to fill in PDF Forms. Which is the cheapest product should I buy? All I have now is Adobe Reader 9 (which I think was downloadable for free) and allows me to edit PDF files.

    Thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction!

    The product cheaper Adobe's Acrobat Standard. It will allow you to create, fill and save PDF Forms. Acrobt Pro has several editing features, but it is not clear to me if you need.

    Reader allows you to fill in PDF forms if they have interactive form fields. Not all PDF files that look like forms. It will save a completed form if it has been enabled for reader. This allows the reader to do the things that he normally can't. You can activate Reader a form with Acrobat Pro or Standard.

  • Size of the PDF forms are higher than expected

    Hi, I seem to have a problem with the file size of my PDF Forms.

    I have created on Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES2 9.0.0.2.20120627 xfa forms and they are all at least 1 big MB which is large enough for an xfa form.

    When I initially create an xfa form, it is around 11-12 Kb, when I add a few items in the shape that it is not too large, 30-90 Kb around, but when I have almost completed my forms it always ends with 1 MB of data.

    I thought that maybe it's because I'm pasting some already created objects from another on a new, but this is not the case.

    Before that, I checked the XML source to see if there is anything suspicious about the forms and I created if I could find something the size of my PDF files.

    I have seen my biggest form who have 15 k lines of XML coding and 1,386 Mb and another with only 5 k lines of XML coding and 1,303 Mb.

    So here, the ratio is 10 k XML encoding is equal to 83 KB. A blank form is about 136 coding XML and is equal to 10 KB.

    When I see other forms that I didn't create, other sources, they are around 300-600 Kb...

    Now I wonder what could be the reason why my forms are so much bigger.

    Would it because I'm not on the side Server encoding?

    Is it because of my Script objects?

    Or because I'm missing something on xfa forms?

    Or, maybe because I don't use Action Builder?

    Or that's what I think, I use different functions, more it grows, perhaps as a result of using these functions, objects of reference?

    If anyone knows what is the main reason for a PDF size XFA form, I would like to know.

    Thank you

    Hello

    the reasons for the large files are generally images and embedded fonts.

    In forms with the default fonts like Arial or Myriad Pro, it is unwise to incorporate fonts in Reader/Acrobat already has the fonts and do not need to be incorporated.

    Only Arial needs about 450 KB in a form.

    If you use images don't embed them, because it means that they get stored as a string encoded in base64 in the XML source instead of a stream encoded flate in the PDF.

    Base64 is very clumsy and needs more space.

  • What is the correct syntax to a PDF form file name in the subject line of an e-mail. Doc Javascript?

    The name of the file is not part of any form field. The name of the file will be also unique whenever the form is used. I also want the name of the file that will be followed by the expression 'evidence' returned by the customer, as in:

    Topic: Proof of Papa Murphys SALEM 8 - 30.pdf returned by the customer

    Here is my existing script, but I need to know the syntax to get the PDF file name added in the subject line.

    this.mailDoc ({bUI: true, cTo: "[email protected]", bassujetti: "proof returned by the customer", CMSG: "attached is the signed evidence.}) Please send to the graphics dept '});

    I'm not very familiar with Javascript so have tried to reconstitute it.

    Unfortunately, there is only so much you can google to get a working solution, I would suggest that you get at least a little familiar with JavaScript (there are a lot of good tutorials and books available). If you want an introduction to Acrobat JavaScript, have a look here: Beginning JavaScript for Adobe Acrobat

    There is a property of the document object that returns the name of the file. You can read the property of Doc.documentFileName here: DC Acrobat SDK Documentation

    In the simplest implementation, you can use this to enter the file name in the subject line:

    this.mailDoc({bUI: true, cTo: "[email protected]", cSubject: this.documentFileName,  cMsg: "Attached is the signed proof. Please forward to the graphics dept"});

    If you want to add more information that just the file name, you will need to assemble your subject line by using variable elements and string constants. Something like this works:

    this.mailDoc({bUI: true, cTo: "[email protected]", cSubject: "The filename is " + this.documentFileName,  cMsg: "Attached is the signed proof. Please forward to the graphics dept"});

  • PDF form: error message on the button to submit the form

    Hi all

    Has joined the forum late last night (late midnight) and I am so grateful for the quick response from many of you

    the questions on the forms PDF which gave me mouth hanging open.

    Here are my recent puzzle:
    Why I get a "this operation is not allowed" when I have my button submit the test form?

    I'm after a video from You Tube to the T:

    All properties > Actions > Mouse Up > Sumbit form > Add: mailto: [email protected] > PDF of the entire Document > OK
    Then I'm saving the document with the new version, opening name to the test drive since my clients will not have Acrobat Pro.

    and several times, continue to receive the error message. And the strange thing is that on previous versions, I'm sure I had it working

    properly at a given time.

    Any help much appreciated.

    It will do when you use a version of the player before 11 reader if the document is not compatible drive. When you send the complete PDF file, it should be saved first, something only 10 player and front normally cannot do. Acrobat and Reader 11/DC do not have this restriction, so that they are able to submit complete PDF forms that have not been activated drive.

  • Create a button to insert an image in a pdf form which disappears once the user hits, a form submission or form reset button?

    I am updating a form of company which was created in Livecycle Designer, by a user who has left the company, which has an image button to join.  The Acrobat of the company bought dc pro for me, thinking that I would be able to update the form, but it is not able to be edited, and I therefore re-created form in ms pro.

    I can get the user to insert an image PDF using javascript

    event.target.buttonImportIcon ();

    However not being is not familiar with javascript and still learn acrobat, it's that I can get in the previous forums before I lose myself.

    The javascript works fine to get the image, however is not immediately clear the reset form or submit buttons for forms are used.

    Can someone please give me simple and clear instructions on how to do it?

    P.S. Adobe website does not mention anything not being able to edit livecycle designer forms in other versions of acrobat, so I'm already very frustrated.  So please do replies newby friendly.

    You cannot delete directly. What you can do is a kind of a hack, which is to copy the icon of a button that has not applied to icon.

    If you create an image button (it can be hidden), set it to an icon, but don't actually select one.

    When you want to reset your other button, you can use this code:

    this.getField("Image1").buttonSetIcon (this.getField("EmptyImage").buttonGetIcon ());

  • PDF form field rectangle on the page coordinates

    Hello

    recently I came across a PDF file that had a form field (text) with the following rectangle:

    LowerLeft: 170; 850

    Superieurdroit: 475; 862

    The page itself was: 595; 841 while that MediaBox = CropBox = BleedBox = area of crop.

    The coordinate y is off the page so to speak.

    The Adobe reader displays the field at the top of the page, but within the limits of the top page.

    Maybe it than correct/fix it?

    My question is:

    1.) is this compatible pdf specification? (I did a quick search but couldn't find something about it)

    2.) is that PDF/A-1 compliant (if that makes a difference)?

    Thank you

    ToM

    Yes, negative coords are perfectly valid.   Do not forget that those related to the MediaBox, which should not be journalAGOS to (0,0)

  • Combine PDF forms without fusion of the fields?

    I have nearly 60 applications that were sent to me by individuals, each in a form that they downloaded from my site, I created.  I need to combine these files into a single document that can be numbered from end to end.  When I'm going to merge the files into a single PDF document, I get the following message:

    "The form fields with the same name in the merged documents are now merged into one. If you want that these values are unique, then you need to create a PDF Package instead of merge the files. »

    Of course, when the documents are combined, the information of each candidate are replaced by the first information of the document.  There is NO WAY I can go through and rename the form fields in 100 documents, and yet I need all these forms in a single document so that I can add page numbers, etc.  Help!

    David

    If you do not need to retain the form fields, you can flatten each document before merge you them. You can do it with JavaScript code in a batch sequence:

    // Flatten this document
    flattenPages();

    Note that flattening is not reversible, in order to work with copies of the originals.

  • Pdf forms can always send the xml data (even if the pdf does not extend)?

    Hello

    My problem is the following. I have Acrobat Professional license, so I can create pdf forms.

    I added a shipment through the mail button to my form and sent to the end user, who had only the acrobat reader software. He was able to complete the form and send its data via the e-mail button, and I got an xml with the data file.

    Because I had not extended the document, I suppose it's always possible, so I can always receive the xml data in completed forms, I can't?

    Then also extended the professional Acrobat document (Tools-> enable usage rights in Adobe Reader), because I need the final customer, be able to save the form. Now, I just sent this document extended by mail (do not use the tool Distribuite form in Acrobat), the user has clicked the button and again once I received my xml.

    Now, I want to back my document to a maximum of 500 customers, I have no limitation?

    I quote acrobat licenze agreement:

    14.13.3 for any unique Document extended, you may only either (a) deploy this Document extended to an unlimited number of recipients unique but shall not extract information from more than five hundred 500 unique of this extensive Document instances or any representation of a paper copy of this Document extended with fields of form [...]

    Since the function I described before (the xml data emailing) is granted even if the document is not extended, I think that this limitation does not apply to me. Am I wrong?

    The limitation applies instead if I use the function 'Distribuite form' (forms-> Distribuite forms...) in acrobat professional. If I use this feature for distribuite the form, an email is automatically sent by acrobat (and not manually by me, as before) and pdf dataset is created. When the end customer cliks button, a pdf file (and not an xml) with the data are sent to me. If I double click on acrobat fills the dataset that was created with the data. It is the extraction of information to which the license relates?

    This is my conclusion: a pdf form can still send data xml by the player, and if I Express with acrobat, the end-user can also record. The only restriction is to distribute the form using "Distribuite form", but if I use it not I have no limitation on the number of times where ever I can get xml data.

    Can anyone confirm that my conclusion is just?

    Thank you very much

  • Can I make a PDF form and submit to the CF?

    Hello.
    I wonder what can I do this.
    I would like to create a form as an example of order of the life cycle of the creator. And want to submit it as a POST of a ColdFusion backend method. Think like a HTML form submission.

    Would this be possible? Or I must have OF the lifecycle for this kind of task.

    PDF form generated starting from CF and submit to the CF-> database appears as an attraction for me. No problem for the fixed CSS bug.

    Read the documentation on CF8: «Many forms created in LiveCycle Designer allows several types of communication, including the XDP and XML, ColdFusion 8 can only retrieve data from HTTP post and presentations PDF»

  • PDF report of economy on the client machine

    Dear all,

    I have a form where the user can select the path he wanted to save report PDF (generated by the Bulder report) at (I use Webutil). I put this path as DESFORMAT before calling the repot, but when the report is run, it is saved on the server (application server), if the same path exist on the server (for example, c:\temp), otherwise it gives an error.

    How can I do this?

    Concerning

    Hello
    I guess all the pdf files that you generate in the c:\temp directory. Otherwise if the files are in c:\temp\data then you will need to change in the webutil.cfg file. So, according to your webutil.cfg file the function call can be like that...

     lResult := WEBUTIL_FILE_TRANSFER.AS_TO_CLIENT_WITH_PROGRESS
                   ('C:\TEMP\ABC.TXT',
                    'C:\TEMP\ABC.TXT',
                    'TITLE',
                    'PLEASE WAIT...');

    Or otherwise if the files are in C:\TEMP\DATA, and then change the configuration for the below setting and try the function as below...

     transfer.database.enabled=TRUE
     transfer.appsrv.enabled=TRUE
     transfer.appsrv.workAreaRoot=
     transfer.appsrv.accessControl=TRUE
     transfer.appsrv.read.1=c:\temp\data
     transfer.appsrv.write.1=c:\temp\data

    And the function like this...

     lResult := WEBUTIL_FILE_TRANSFER.AS_TO_CLIENT_WITH_PROGRESS
                   ('C:\TEMP\data'ABC.TXT',
                    'C:\TEMP\ABC.TXT',
                    'TITLE',
                    'PLEASE WAIT...');

    Make sure the file is readable on the ACE and the C:\TEMP directory is available on the client side.
    With the help of example that you can find in the webutil demo. See the link below.

  • APEX5: exceptions from AJAX calls not returned to the client

    I have a small question about the apex.server.process feature.

    I have a request where I do some AJAX requests to the server to do something. My JS (sample) code looks like this:

    apex.server.process("DO_SOMETHING", {
    }, {
        dataType: "text",
        success : function (pData) {
            alert(pData);
      }
    });

    The foo application process is defined as follows:

    BEGIN
    raise_application_error(-20001, 'exc');
    END;

    Now, I noticed that when I am connected to the request of the manufacturer, I get my alert with the message "sqlerrm: ORA-20001: exc ' (which I expected).

    If I connect to the generator and run my application, I get an empty alert message (ie: the pData in my success Manager parameter is empty, or better: the response of the network call is empty = > "this request has no data available response" chrome network logging).

    Is this as expected? If Yes, what is the reasoning (security as in "never disclose unhandled exceptions") and is there a setting/workaround, we use (short for catching exceptions and the sending of the response via htp.p data)

    I understand the fact that you should always do the appropriate error handling, but it's an internal application where I don't mind really if an unhandled exception is propagated to the client.

    I have a request on apex.oracle.com where it is reproduced, but given the behaviour depends on being connected to the APEX Builder I'm not confident to disclose identification for generating environmental information.

    Change the raise_application_error for:

    HTP.p ("exc");

    It is indeed strange that the behavior is different when running through the constructor, or directly. I have reproduced the same on apex.oracle.com

    Come to think of it: when running through the constructor, you can debug and use the developer toolbar. Maybe Apex handles exceptions differently to capture the output of the exception.
