Pdf of the book export

I'm quite new in the Java scripts and I'm working (or studying) to export a pdf to book via a script.

I want to save the pdf file in the same way and with the same name of the books itself... is it possible?

For what I found

ExportFormat.pdfType,

File (Folder.desktop + "/ site/folder/name.pdf"), it's true;

There should be a way ti change or even ask the name and path.

Thank you

Try this,

var myPDFExportPreset = app.pdfExportPresets.item("[Press Quality]");//change your pdf preset here
app.activeBook.exportFile(ExportFormat.pdfType, new File(app.activeBook.filePath +"/" + app.activeBook.name.toString().substring(0,app.activeBook.name.toString().length-5) +".pdf"), 0, myPDFExportPreset);

  • PDF of the book creation

I have a book with 28 chapters. At the present time, that each chapter is that it is own InDesign file.

In some cases, a chapter ends on a left page and the next chapter starts on a right-hand page. In other cases, a chapter ends on a right-hand page, and the next chapter starts on a left page.

All the chapters are in a book palette.

When I do a single PDF of the chapters in the book palette, if a chapter ends on a left page and the next chapter starts on a right-hand page, these pages do not appear as spreads in the PDF. These pages are unique pages in the PDF file, and all other pages are pasta spread.

Any help on how I can get all the pages to be spread in the PDF?

    Thank you.

I wondered about this myself in the past, that's why I can give you a definitive answer.  I suspect that it is because even if the documents are combined into a book, the printing functionality treats always when printing documents separate all together. He is not able to put these two pages together because they are separate documents.

The work is the only way.  I'm sorry.

BTW, as the creator of the thread, you are one who assigns the responses answer good/useful.  Only you can do, and as a courtesy to other participants in the forum, it is good to do.  It makes the line appear as replied in the main list, so those who want to help stop watch it.

  • How can I control the size of a book, exported as PDFS?

Thanks in advance for answering the question.

I use Adobe Lightroom 5.5 on a Mac even on Maverick. When I go to the book module in the lower right side of the screen is a big button that says export book to PDF... If I hit this button I get a save window which has no options to make a lightweight PDF and it produces a PDF of 100mg. It is a problem because I can not use this as proof that I can send and share with my client.

How can I change this export options?

Before using the button "Export to the book in PDF format" settings in the Panel (at the top right).

When you change to the appearance of the Panel changes PDF and you have options for your PDF.

  • Cover of the book layout and export to PDF

    Hi all

I created a document page 1 with the right size for the cover of my book. The preliminary pages fits in a separate document (then body text, glossary, bib etc.) with normal 2 pages.

    Export to PDF / X - 1a: 2001 goes without a hitch.

However when I view the document in Acrobat I get this funny page of my preliminary pages up along the side of my book cover. That does look not just for me even if I probably understand acrobat it shows only 2 consecutive pages.

I tried to uncheck allow page / spread shuffle and delete the extra page prior to export in pdf format to see if it changes anything, but it is not.

How can I fix this? Or it prints very well anyway?

Should I export coverage in separate PDF format then the book itself and combine them later in acrobat?

Any help would be appreciated. It's the HomeStretch and this beast is almost done.

    Thank you

    Lauren

  • How to print (or export) a list of the books in the iBooks?

I don't want to print the books themselves, just a list of all the books I own. I would rather print the list directly from iBooks, but it would also work to export the list of numbers or pages and print it from there. I can never remember what I have a lot of books. I even bought the same book twice.

    Hey, Krasna.

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. Purchases of information tells me that you are eager to find out how you can keep track of your iBooks. I have lots of iBooks myself, so I certainly understand wanting to keep track of them all - I'd be happy to help you!

While it is not a way to export a list of all your books in the iBooks app, you can see all your books within the application itself. On a Mac, you have several options for viewing your iBooks, all listed through the top center of the application.

    1. Under the books section, you will see all your books and their covers. A cloud in the upper right corner icon means that you bought the book, but it is not downloaded to your device.

    2. Under the Collections section, you will have the option to search through all the purchases of your iBook as well as of different categories such as books, files, PDF and the current (which shows iBooks you are currently reading).

    3. The authors section allows you to see all your iBooks, sorting by author.

    4. The Categories section lists all your iBooks by category, for example, Action & adventure, Fantasy or Biographies.

    5. Finally, the section of list displays all your iBooks, in alphabetical order, in a list. You also be able to see the title, author, category, collection, read last date, date added, size, and that he has downloaded on your device, or even in the cloud. This is probably the view you'd be more interested in keeping track of what iBooks you already own.

You can take screenshots of the list of books you have and you can print if you want a printed list of the books you own. You can find out how to take a screenshot here:

  • Question to export PDF from Indesign book Blurb - color change

    Hello

This is my first post on the Adobe forum.

I have a problem when you export a PDF file that is intended to be printed for a book Blurb. The Preview on the site blurb is very different from my PDF in terms of colors.

    This is my workflow:

-All my photos are converted to CMYK blurb (via photoshop) color profile and saved as TIFF.

-J' I put all my pictures on my layout in Indesign CS6 (which also has the color of the text of presentation profile)

    - Then I set the PDF export preset that Blurb has provided (the profile description [based on 'Blurb PDF X - 3 Export Preset'] [based on ' [PDF / X-3: 2002]'] use these parameters to create Adobe PDF documents that should be verified or must conform to PDF / X-3: 2002, an ISO standard for graphic content exchange.)  For more information on the creation of PDF/X-3 compliant PDF documents, please visit the Acrobat User Guide.  Created PDF documents can be opened with Acrobat and Adobe Reader 4.0 and later.]

-C' is where the problem begins: if I read the PDF with Adobe reader, it seems very well (i.e. I see on my screen of Indesign) SEE IMAGE 1. But if I look at the preview of the PDF on the Blurb Book Preview module it looks like really bad (see IMAGE 2).

    So my question is:

What might explain my PDF looks so different from the preview Blurb and what step should I take to fix this problem?

Blurb people have no idea so I hope that the Adobe community can help me!

    Thank you in advance!

    Vincent

IMAGE 1: as seen on PDF when read with Adobe reader

    1 a- What I see on PDF - Blurb settings using Acrobat.jpg

IMAGE 2: as seen on the text of presentation preview module.

IMAGE 2 - same pdf as viewed on foxit reader.jpg

I recommend that place your images in InDesign as sRGB (you need to go back to the original images, not those who are already converted to CMYK). When you have finalized your document InDesign export presets PDF Acrobat, by selecting the text of presentation PDF presets (that you have installed). You can view the PDF result using Acrobat on your own (probably calibrated monitor).

  • How to export to interactive PDF of a book of multiple document?

    Hello!

I have 24 separate InDesign documents that were to be compiled/combined into one. I did it by making a book. (Please let me know if there is a better way).

I need to be able to export the book as an interactive PDF. I use the interactive functions for navigation, hyperlinks and bookmarks. Are automatically converted to hyperlinks and bookmarks may be added after the fact. It's that I can't find a solution for the navigation buttons.

The main question here is when I go to print the book only the PDF option is not there, one interactive. Export (file > export) the book seems to be impossible because it exports all selected not document the entire book. It seems that you need to print the PDF file in Adobe PDF file, but there is no interactive options this way.

Ideas or new approaches to this problem? I would REALLY appreciate it.

    In InDesign

    File > new book

    Import documents 24.

The menu book panel using drop down choose export to PDF.

-Use this script to batch conversion

The latest version has an option to export PDF files into individual pages.

  • Book export as pdf... facing pages

I created 19 individual inDesign files (chapters in a book). They are set up in front of the pages. If I create a book with all the 19 chapters... then export as PDF... the first page and last page of each chapter is an individual page in the PDF file. I selected spreads in the export PDF dialog box. For some reason, he's not combining the first and last pages of each chapter as a spread. Any ideas as to what I have to do to get the PDF to look like a book with verse pages overall?

I found the answer here: http://indesignsecrets.com/make-it-look-like-a-book-in-the-acrobat-pdf.php

I understand one of the application of the service book in inDesign is to keep your large projects (several pages) in a number of smaller files and then combine them using the feature of the book to help with numbering and layout. What I don't understand, is that there's no easy way in inDesign to combine all of these individual files in a PDF to show the client what will look like the book to deal with the sight of the pages. Export to PDF does not combine the last page of a chapter and the first page of the next chapter in a face to face page spread. It makes no sense to me. This seems to be a must have the functionality in a page layout program.

  • with the master page "insert current page number" error when you export the book

Using InDesign CS for Windows 5.5

Recently updated for InDesign CS (very old one from 2003). I save a copy of all my old files version and kept the old installed ID just in case (after reading all the horror stories on here).

In my old version of ID, I created a book consisting of some 70 documents. Some of these documents are a single page, while others have multiple pages. In the multiple documents page, I used the "insert... current page number" character (or whatever the command was in the old version) on a page master and formatted as follows, for example: Page 1 of 17, Page 2 of 17, Page 3 of 17, etc. When I exported my book in pdf format, it worked fine. (I is not have to / want page numbers consecutive throughout the book, only in individual documents.) By that I mean my whole book is about 280 pages, but not all of these 280 pages are numbered, only groups of pages in multi-page documents. It is not read page 1-280).

Am my upgrade to 5.5 a few months ago added some documents in the book, and (if I remember correctly) when I saved the book he asked to convert each document version to the new version, I said OK. When I exported the book in pdf format, some documents that are more than 2 pages are now counted wrong; the numbers are now like this: Page 1 of 17, Page 2 of 17, Page 2 of 17 (supposed to be page 3), Page 2 of 17 (supposed to be page 4), etc. Each page, but page 1 is now page 2 of that either.

If I open the individual document and export it to PDF, the page numbers work very well. It is only when the document is exported with the book the page numbers to spoil. And it's not all documents in my book; This error starts to a particular document and continues from there throughout the rest of the book, affecting any document more than 2 pages. Documents several pages before that point in the book for export with the correct page numbers.

I create new documents by performing a "save under" with a previously created document and cut and paste as needed, so I won't have to reformat or implement the page numbers on each new document. I use layers or styles (I do not know there is a better way to do what I need, but I didn't have time to learn the basics, just enough to be functional.)

My attempts to resolve this problem so far (using version 5.5), tests with the first document where the error: (1) I have removed the document from the book, removed the page number character current insert, back to the current page number character insert, saved, the individual document exported in pdf format and it worked fine. Put it in the book, save, export, and it is bad. (2) I picked up the book document, export the document to .idml, registered as a new .indd new name, exported to PDF and it worked fine. Put it in the book, save, export, and it is bad. (3) I started to the top of my old version of ID, open from the previous version of this document, exported .inx, closed, open the .inx in ID 5.5, registered as a new .indd new name, exported to PDF and it worked fine. Put it in the book, save, export, and it is bad. (4) I moved the document to the top in the order book, put it on a document which correctly numbered pages, saved, exported to PDF and this document was still evil, but one who has been numbered correctly all along is still correct. (5) I compared the settings for this document to others that the number properly and found no difference.

It's as if the page numbers get hooked on "2" when I export the book, but only in the last two-thirds of the book. Sorry this is so long, but I hope that this description of my problem is understandable. Any advice, other than to go back to my old version documents and start over?

Thank you for your time and all the information great this forum provides.

    Alice

Normally, I would say that this kind of problem is symptomatic of the incorrect numbering options in the book panel or an individual document or a bad update of the numbering, and those things are still definitely worth looking at.

That said, I invite you to go to the original files, export each one to .inx and open those in CS5.5 and save as a new file .indd CS5.5 whose new name, then add them to a whole new book CS5.5. Books are pretty flakey without mixture in the conversion of files, and there are enough bad behvior file conversion directly inherited the .inx route is insurance a little success.

    Hello!

I'm just starting to get my feet wet in Javascript scripts, and I greatly enjoy!

I am wanting to create a script that a PDF using a PDF export preset I set export and then I want to have the pdf saved in the same folder as the indesign file that was exported from. I already know how to export the pdf file using a "Preset" I already have. The only thing I do not know how to do is to indicate the pdf file to be saved in the same folder as the Indesign file that is exported from. Can someone help me please? I would be very happy!

I would also like to find a way to automatically name have the pdf named the same name as the Indesign file, it has been exported since.

  • Adobe CC - Export PDF of the brochure

I've been struggling this for hours now so I ask for help. It seems that I should be able to export a PDF in the print booklet window, but on my Mac, this isn't an option. I was able to export successfully to a post script file and distill the file in PDF format. But I need to be formatted for 12-inch by 18-inch pages booklet. I don't have a printer that is capable of large-format, so I was not able to create a 12 x 18 of booklet pdf.

Also, when I try to use the system save in PDF, I get the error "save it as PDF option in the dialogue of the printer is not supported.

It seems quite ridiculous to me that adobe has not fixed this. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

You can create the PDF distilling postscript, but you need the right PPD. Rob Day has posted a link to the PPD to print booklet post script does not work. Adobe Community

  • Export from InDesign to PDF and the PDF file last updated is greater than one month and not easily print on letter paper is PDF presets?

    Hello

I export from InDesign to PDF page is larger in the PDF file, and others I exported. This is because of the present PDF? One of the project managers is not able to print on 8.5 "x 11", but the InDesign document presets are the same as before. I wish I could download PDFs to show, but the newly exported PDF is greater than the version I created a month ago. I created a PDF file and the newly updated PDF file is almost un.5 inch wider with the export presets even. Any thoughts?

    Sadira00123456789 wrote:

I suspect the project manager has his copy of Reader/Acrobat simply set to print full size, rather than "Worthy" (assuming that the size of InDesign pages is truly 8.5 x 11).

.. the newly updated PDF file is almost un.5 inch wider with the same export presets.

This has nothing to do with export presets. How did determine you this difference of half inch?

  • Board items on the document ignored in the book while exporting to EPUB

Using InDesign CC (v9.2) on Mac - OS Mavericks

I create a table of contents for navigation for e-books using an InDesign book. Currently, it contains 3 (soon to be more) InDesign documents.

An InDesign document that is included in the book contains a range of Articles, setting the display order of objects in the document. He happens to be the first document in this book is the source. The 2 other InDesign documents in the book have nothing in their Articles of the panels.

When the book is exported to EPUB, the source InDesign document objects are out of use - it's like the book ignores Articles Panel to the document.

When I tried to export to EPUB in the book and selected the content order: even in the Articles Panel, the EPUB that results contains the InDesign source with the Articles Panel document (and the objects are in the correct order), but 2 other InDesign documents are not displayed.

What is possible to have the honor of book Articles of the inDesign document Panel?

    Hello

From what I understand your post, you have the article created in the source document, but not in other documents. While exporting to EPUB you had chosen the Articles panel-based order, but only the items in the exported got playback source document and the other two documents appears empty. This is because there are no articles created for the two other documents. Whatever the elements in the articles, only those intended for export and because items are not present for other documents, no content was exported that part of these documents.

Please let me know if your problem is different.

    Kind regards
