Persuade a Deskjet 940c make it work with Windows 7

I have a Deskjet 940c with a parallel port connection.

I've just upgraded my PC to Windows 7 (64-bit) and there are no drivers available for this combination.

HP has ceased to update its software for this printer and Windows 7 doesn't have its own driver for this printer.

Can I use any other driver to get the printer to work? If so, which?

You can the driver Deskjet 940C HP provided to Microsoft which is distributed through Windows Update by the user.  Follow these steps: connect the printer to the LPT1: port, go devices and printers folder and select Add a printer local printer, LPT1:, click Windows Update, wait list repopulate, then select the Deskjet 940 C printer.
