  16.3 currently using. For some reason, it is not a default application to open PDF (for example from the downloaded folder) files. My Tablet says that it cannot open a file (I have no other installed pdf viewer, even google one is deleted). I don't see any option to make Adobe Reader by default.

  I think that to do this, you must change the default application settings in your Android phone.

  For this, you can try and see if the measures help:

  Go to settings > applications > all and then select the currently associated application and remove it as default and press default clear.

  Doing so now when you open your file, you will be asked to choose a default App again.

  Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but here is your solution:

  Regedit > HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT > Applications > AcroRd32.exe > shell > open > command

  Right click > edit

  Change your version to the latest version number:

  "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Reader" '%1'--> ' C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe "'%1 '.

• How can I make Adobe XI the default program for PDF files in Windows version 1511 10?

  I have Adobe Acrobat X! Standard (11.0.13).  I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 version 1511.  After the upgrade, it turned my default pdf for Microsoft Edge program.  I would like to change the default value to Adobe Acrobat Standard XI.  I tried to open a PDF with Adobe and Adobe followed automatically make my default program Adobe.  However, when I selected OK, I received an error message Adobe claiming that couldn't make Adobe default program.  Any suggestions?

  Right-click on the PDF file, select open with-> choose default program, select Acrobat XI & confirm the changes.

• Is it possible to define the ID 5 as default application for INDD files?

  I use Mac OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard), and I upgraded to ID 5.5 for the 30 day trial. As I don't know if I want to keep it, I want to keep 5 ID as the application associated with the INDD, as opposed to ID 5.5 files. Is this possible? Currently, when I click on a file to open it, it opens automatically in 5.5. I tried to set the default application in the "Get Info" Panel (please see attached screenshot), but it does not seem to stick. I know that a workaround is simply to open 5 ID and then open the INDD FILE via file > command OPEN, but it would be easier if I could open the files directly by clicking on them in a Finder window.

• is there a way to permanently prevent Windows edge to take by default Adobe for PDF files

  apparently a common problem is that the edge browser enters default status to open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat files.  There are several articles on how to change a registry key and the other on the MS Tech site on how to make a backup and a restore all default values, because it's a known bug.

  I can reset in settings, but every time there is a major, and sometimes twice a day without reason, Edge grabs back the default.

• Downloads window blank and nothing download - only for PDF files?

  FF 25, Mac Mountain Lion.

  Last week, stopped download PDF files and the downloads window is empty. Tried Safe Mode and clear memory cache, as well as Disable selectively module DownloadHelper. Nothing has worked. Acrobat plugin is not used, I've always had PDF files in Acrobat itself opening.

  It seems to affect only PDF files.

  I do not have reset FF because it's so invasive and time-consuming. Any other solution before I resort to that (or switch to Chrome)?

  In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not to open PDF files with the internal PDF reader to Firefox), do the following:

  1. Go to Tools > Options (or Firefox > Options).
  2. In the Options window, select the Applications tab.
  3. In the Search box, type PDF. You should find Portable Document Format (PDF).
  4. On the right referring, you should find a column of Action . To select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDFs in Firefox, choose Preview in Firefox.

• Impossible to access from Firefox 19 update plugin Acrobat for pdf files

  I don't like the new pdf viewer, which keeps throwing warnings and is not nearly as usable as the Acrobat plugin. I wanted to go back to the old plugin Acrobat installed with Adobe Reader XI. I searched these forums and the support files and tried the following, which none worked:

  1. Tools/Options/Applications, change pdf to 'use Adobe Reader'. This measure of reader, but not the plugin. There is no option for "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)". This option IS sometimes listed Acrobat file as Adobe Acrobat Forms Document.

  I'm pretty annoyed that I have to waste all that time to go back to something that has worked well. Just another update lame FF that should not happen. You guys are the deployment of updates too often without enough input from users. And what has become of the idea of opt in for optional features instead of just forcing on us. Will seek to use IE, where the plugin works fine.

  I think I solved my problem. I have disabled the plugin for Nitro Pro 7 and the Acrobat plugin is now visible again for pdf files.

  Here is a free software that will do it without risky registry changes.  Of course I would recommend when even take a few seconds to create a system restore point before using it, just to be sure.
