  Given that the CANON Mark II 1DX requires at least the camera raw 9.5 and cs6 can

  updated to 9.1.1, you can use the adobe dng converter to convert canon cr2 files

  copies of DNG that should then open in photoshop cs6.

Now when I export an image to edit in PS CS5 it tells me that this version of Ligtroom requires Photoshop Camera Raw plugin version 9.4. It's confusing me. If I've updated to Lightroom should not Camera Raw update as well and the version (I guess than 9.4) would be available for PS CS5?

  It's more complicated than that.

  • Lightroom does not use the Camera Raw separate used by Photoshop plugin. Lightroom has the Camera Raw engine built into its code base. When you update to Lightroom, all Raw updates are included in Lightroom.
  • Compatibility of camera Raw plugin varies according to the version of Photoshop
    Camera Raw plugin and Adobe application compatibility
  • CS5 is only compatible with Camera Raw up to version 6.7.
  • CS6 is only compatible with Camera Raw up to version 9.1.1.
  • Only Cloud versions are compatible with current versions of Camera Raw.
  • To use Raw files in CS5 which require new versions of Camera Raw 6.7, to open the import dialog in Lightroom and "Copy as DNG". Open the DNG in CS5.

  so I tried to install the update, to install it correctly, kept getting the same message when I would try to open the photo. After researching online, I found the idea to uninstall and then reinstall photoshop elements. I did it once, tried the update new... same results. uninstalled again. tried the update again and still get the same message. Ive checked the adobe website and everywhere where I look said that the version of the camera raw does support my camera (nikon D7100). IM at my wits end with this and don't know what else to do.   Well, you don't need any software to do this with a mac, but anyway. Uninstall it and see. Sometimes there is a conflict between the nikon plugin and ACR.

  Camera Raw 9.7 is necessary to have support for this model of camera raw files. And camera raw 9.7 is not compatible with Photoshop CS6. If you have decided to stay with this version of Photoshop then your the cheaper option would be to download converter DNG 9.7 and create copies of your raw images that will open in Camera Raw DNG 9.1.1. What has happened that lead you to believe that Camera Raw 9.1.1 has not installed? If you go to help-> on plug-ins and choose Camera Raw, what version?

  It opens images of D4. Check what version of camera raw you have. Camera raw 8 was installation on versions of 2015 for a reason, and, I think, you need at least 8.4. If you have 8.4 or above, did you use Nikon software to transfer the images? It has been known to corrupt the files of some cameras so PS can not open them.
