Pinned tabs on all windows

When I close the firefox window that contains a pinned tab before my other firefox windows, pinned tab does not open the next time I start firefox. (I chose "show my windows and tabs from last time"). Therefore, it would be nice if it was possible for the tabs pinned to:
be on all windows.
be on the active window,
or transferred to another window when the first window is closed.

Is this possible? This is for a future version? Thanks in advance for the answers.

You can have different sets of tabs pinned on each open window.

Better is to get used to using Firefox > quit to close Firefox and not the X close in the title bar to make sure to close all open windows at the same time.

Since the last update, now instead of simply to open a new page in the same tab when I click on a link, it opens a new tab. I also have a pinned favorite links folder, before I just click on it and scroll down to my link desired, since the update whenever I click on the folder, it just opens it in the folder. How can I fix it and God good, why cannot it be an option that stops updates to immediately change the previous settings like this done.

I scrolled the basic options and couldn't find any way to address these changes, there are now very few options for tabs and pins.

  • I pinned tabs but they don't open when I open a new window? Permenantly pinned tabs that open when you open the browser is something that is so simple and usefu

It should not necessarily be a "pin", but I wonder how to keep one eye permanently there everytime I open a new browser, as they appear.

Pinned tabs are related to a specific window and you can have a different game in each window.
You have to re-create the tabs pinned, if you want in a new window, possibly by the bookmarks in a folder (to bookmark all tabs) or set them as many home pages (a new window opens with the home pages).
Maybe there is an extension that allows to open newly opened tabs pinned in windows, so you can search the Addons site.

  • I didn't want tabs at all, just windows. I have vs 39.0

I want my firefox works as before. I don't want the tabs. The way it works now, is of all Web pages seem to go into an icon at the bottom. If I try to minimize a window, it does not return to the previous window, it goes to my desktop. VERY FRUSTRATING. I want to see all the Windows I have open, distributed along my bar tasks. If there is no solution for this, I'll Safari as I saw suggested elsewhere. Or another solution would be to go to an older version of Firefox that always worked normally.
    Thank you

As test, could you open two new windows, a regular (Ctrl + n) one private (Ctrl + Shift + p) and describe how the taskbar display changes? Do you get the additional graphics next to the Firefox button simulating a "stack" of buttons? That's what I think that you normally get.

If the problem is that you want different buttons rather than a stack, the Windows taskbar has a setting for it. Right-click the taskbar, click Properties, and then change buttons setting to never combine. (Screen attached)

Firefox can also show each tab in the taskbar, but if you try to avoid using tabs, which is probably not relevant. For future reference, it's the setting here:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > general

Downstairs, 'Show previews tab in the Windows task bar.

  • Pin the tabs like all other normal tabs scrolling

Before upgrading to 29,01 I got my tabs pinned the left upper corner of the screen. And when I scrolled the tabs, only not pinned tabs would scroll. Now, after the upgrade, all tabs, pinned and no pin scrolling at the same time. Another odd thing: when I scroll to the left with the mouse, everything is fine, until the first pinned tab reappears on the screen. So I can't scroll with the mouse. To get the other pin tabs back on the screen, I have to click on the < button.

Please try Firefox 30, this is not the case in this version. However if the behavior is the same, please try resetting Firefox. This will restore the default browser options.

  • During the closure of 2 windows (with several tabs), restore the system does restore properly the tabs in the window of the second. Is this a bug in the new update / all ideas to fix?

I regularly use 2 windows with multiple tabs of each and session restore would work to bring them all back, but after this last updated the second window restores correctly, with the first non-visible tab on top (only in the menu drop-down) and now the button add a tab on the left (instead of right). Add a button to the tab is not really as far as concerns the other than it indicates other problems with the tabs in the 2nd window. No no not the 1st tab visible is frustrating, because I can't move or also easily navigate. Also, the tabs on the top of the 2nd window which are visible is no longer have the 'x' to close visible, except when this tab is selected. I'm assuming that it is a problem with the new version/update, since this is the first time I encountered the problem, and I closed and restored Firefox several times to make sure it was a recurring problem and not a one-time problem. Any ideas on how to fix would be welcome (except maybe cramming my tabs on a window or it suck XD).

Thank you for your help. None of your suggested solutions worked, but having just updated to 10.0.2 seems to have solved the problem.

  • How to prevent the loss of all my tabs in all my groups when you close Mozilla?

I use grouped tabs. I only have one-stop shopping (i.e., a group) has opened at a time. Yesterday () and the close Mozilla (v. 42.0) I received a warning that X tabs were closed. X is big enough for all tabs in all groups was needed. When a group of windows/opening, I closed Mozilla. When I started today, the window that has opened has all my pinned tabs, but not the other tabs and when I clicked on the icon "your tabs to group", all the other groups had disappeared. I spent hours to find an older version that would bring basic information today, but it was old - don't have my newest pinned tabs and many, many of my most recent tabs in my groups. I went through the history of this month to try to find the missing labels. I will have to spend the last months of history as well (but ran out of time today). When I tried to close Mozilla tonight, I got this message it would close X tabs again. I can't lose all this information - it is essential to my work. I chose to not disable Mozilla (and, therefore, not my computer) hoping someone can tell me what to do so I don't lose all this information again. Obviously I can't just let it run 24/7. (It's a laptop and I have to travel with her). Help, please.

See Preferences-> general-> Firefox start. Select "show my windows and tabs from last time ' and you should be fine.

You can middle - click a bookmark to open this bookmark in a new tab.
Otherwise, you will need to use an extension to open a default bookmark in a new tab.

  • Firefox has recently discontinued. I opened it again, and I had lost my pinned tabs. How can I find/restore them?

Firefox sometimes stops, but this time I opened it as usual and my pinned tabs have been lost. I searched through the parameter etc but I can't find a way to get back them, or at least to find them. Any ideas?

Do not close Firefox. Please save all your files of sessionstore in a safe place for potential recovery/recovery operations.

You can open the settings file (AKA Firefox profile) current Firefox help

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table of the page, click on the view file"" button.

In the window that launches, scroll down and save a copy of all the files whose names begin with sessionstore to a safe place, such as your Documents folder. If not too much time has passed, we may be able to use to recover your blank tabs.

Then you could check the menu history for 'restore previous Session "? This can appear on the application ('3-bar' menu) or on the menu bar.

If 'Restore previous Session' is grayed out, then either Firefox has already loaded your session previous windows and tabs, or could not load the file. Check the menu history the possibility of re-opening closed windows and then labels in each window. Nothing salvageable?

The types of files that you can find in your sessionstore files include:

    • sessionstore.js: windows and tabs in your Firefox session currently live (or, if Firefox is closed, your last session)
    • sessionstore.bak: the windows and tabs in your last session in Firefox
    • sessionstore.bak -datetime: windows and tabs in Firefox that was alive at the time of your last update session
    • sessionstore - 1.js (or other numbered files): windows and tabs when Firefox was unable to update the sessionstore.js file registered

Can take you a look at what you have and the date / time of the different files to see if you think that one of them would be the windows and tabs missing?

  • Invisible pinned tab takes place

I encountered a bug in the new Firefox. I've pinned a tab, then by chance, I moved the tam in a new window (via context menu). New window opens with the tab this marking, but... it seems that the pinned tab went invisible, there's just an empty space that I can't do anything about. I can't click on it (in other words, it behaves like the rest of the free space on the tab bar) and he stays there after restart of Firefox (even if Firefox should start with a blank page only, this is what is was set to do).

Screenshot: http://abload.de/img/beztytuur5o1g.png - you can clearly see that there is an empty space. It is exactly as wide as a pinned tab. It appears in all open Firefox Windows.

Any ideas how to get rid of? It is not a problem, but a bit annoying all the same.

PS. I won't reset the Firefox settings, too many problems with all that upward adjustment.

I hope that we will not have to reset Firefox. It's a pain for all those who have a ton of extensions and have it configured as you wish. Personally, I use Sync 'save' my stuff. Given that I'm always changing computers, I can sync all my stuff in my new Firefox. Works like a charm!
Normally, Sync is not used to back up data, but I still use it.

You have a lot of extensions so that one of them could be the problem

You can try to start Firefox in Mode safe to see if Firefox works correctly without error? You can start Firefox in Mode safe below:

    • Windows/Mac: choose Help > restart with disabled modules
    • Linux: run firefox-safe-mode in the Terminal/Konsole

If Firefox opens fine with no problems, it is probably one of your extensions that is causing the problem. You can reactivate your modules one by one until you find the one that is causing the problem to be re-activated.

  • Keep my pinned tabs disappear when I close and restart Firefox, this isn't after a crash. How can I stop this?

Keep no apparent reason of my pinned tabs disappear from Firefox. This has happened three times now. I have not synchronized to any device. I keep my story and not erase it.

    Hello Silvia,.
    Sorry, you have problems.

The system to store this information seems to be a bit fragile.

When trying this please ensure you favorite whatever it is open and close the unnecessary tabs and don't let any ongoing work, initially you can lose more than just pins tabs. Once things go wrong, that several sessionstore files can be created, clear duplicate follow these instructions:

    1. See this for instructions on the profile search. Use the troubleshooting information, while Firefox is open profiles - where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data#w_how-do-i-find-my-profile
    2. Make sure that everything is backed up or bookmark and close Firefox
    3. Remove all duplicate sessionstore.js files found in the profile. Those with a number or.bak
      As mentioned in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_hangs#Multiple_sessionstore.js_files
    4. Restart Firefox, you may have lost some information i.e. pins or other tabs
    5. In the future when shutting down Firefox always use the menu option, which is from the Firefox button on a Windows machine. Do not kill the process, or close the window of final Firefox using the Windows icon at the top right.
