Problems with SQL server 2008 nvarchar type varchar in oracle.

Hello

I did a heterogeneous connectivity between db to SQL server 2008, and Oracle 11 g, well, but when I try to display the data of colum on RPD (only the varchar type) I see only the first character of the string.

One last thing, when I try to see the data on Oracle SQL developer, I get strange characters, like when we have the wrong character encoding in your browser.

Some print to illustrate the problem.

Query Oracle SQL developer:

Developer Microsoft SQL query:

Printscreen RPD:

SQLplus (as you can see are spaces between characters):

To finish the data be used to build a mobile application with the oracle mobile app Designer.

Thank you

Thank you kgronau

I've corrected this problem setting in the file gateway (in my case dg4odbc) HS_NLS_NCHAR = UCS2 init

    Hello

I am having trouble capturing SQL Server (Express 2008) tables/views/data for Migration to Oracle 11. I was able to connect to the source (SQL Server 2008 Express) and databases of destination (Oracle 11) on the same server (Windows Vista 32 bit). However, when I select objects SQl server (tables or views) and click on "Capture Microsoft SQL Server" or "Table of Capture" etc, nothing happens... No message and the tool is just sitting there. The models 'captured' is empty... Could someone please help? Where can I find the error logs? I followed the instructions as described in the help text and also found that some other people were able to run on SQL Server. I wonder what might be different about my situation.

    Thank you!

    Hello

SQL Developer Migration Workbench does not yet support the migration to SQL Server 2008.

    See http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/migration/workbench/pdf/migrationdatasheet_15.pdf

This data sheet lists only the versions of SQL Server 7.0, 2000 and 2005.

Maybe the next Metalink note allows more:

Note 393760.1: how to migrate databases non-Oracle, for which an Option of Migration Workbench is not available

  • New VC 4.1 with SQL Server 2008 installation

SQL and VC on the same physical server.

Operating system is Win2008 R2 64 bit, installed SQL Server 2008 64 bit, created by 64-bit ODBC DSN, installed VC 4.1

When we arrived to the ports and tried to accept the default Port 80 has received an error "already in use."

We do not have any statement in the SQL, then I think that Reporting SERVICES is not installed.  We changed the port 8081 and collected by the mistake, but I learned by VMware support this causes big problems when you install the Update Manager, port 80 must be used for updates.

    Has anyone encountered this problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For me the solution was to stop the SQL reporting services... They were using ports 80 and 443.

  • E.M.P. 11.1.2.2 configuration with SQL Server 2008 R2

    Hello

I was wondering if he should place the sqljdbc4.jar under any folder EPM_HOME\MW file to connect to SQL Server 2008 when you configure using the EMP system configurator.

I'm just be proactive and ask the question because I had to do the same thing when configuring with SQL Server 2008R2 ODI...

Looks like Oracle don't like MS and visa versa... Why not include just this file JDBC installation.

    Thanks in advance!

No you shouldn't need drivers for sql server additional to configure SQL SERVER in the configurator to EMP they are included as part of the configurator.

Your question of Windows 7 is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for the SQL Server forums. Please post your question in the SQL Server forums.

  • HA with Sql Server 2008 and EMC

    Hello colleagues!

I work with an active-passive sql cluster, the cluster is based on MSCS (Microsoft Cluster). Each Sql nodes is sitting on separate hosts of Esxi5. LUN is sitting on the machine of the EMC AX4 with iScsi.

I have a lot of problems with this group. I experience several unnecessary failovers.

I would consider moving on VMware cluster.

The problem is that I can't find a good reference on the VMware SQL Server HA environment solutions. The problem is how do I know that this failover will not damage files my SQL servers mdf\ldf?

    The experience of someone?

    Thank you!

    -Chen

    My 2 Cents

I am looking for a solution that knows what VM SQL fails on the #1 host (VM, not the crowd!) and will trigger an another VM (on another host #2) which will have the LUN (in the EMC storage) - I I will achieve my wishes.

To do this, I recommend always to create 2 VMs and implemented a MSCS on the VMware host computers.

In your cluster settings, create a rule of affinity to never operate these 2 machines on the same host.

FT might work, but there are 2 problems:

-Don't take charge 1 vCPU VMs. Don't know if this SQL box can work with 1 vCPU

-FT creates a virtual machine in doubles at the stage of the lock. If the main VM operating system crashes (blue screen) the other VM will likely be the same.

The purpose of FT is to have no interruption of service in case of failure of the host. It does not protect the BONES

But it might be possible with a single VM SQL based on HA only.

When a host fails, the SQL VM starts on another host. Now depending on how long this virtual machine takes to start, it could be 1-2 minutes downtime. You will need to test the startup speed.

When an MSCS falls down, according to the Setup, it could also mean 1-2 min downtime, which is the same result

  • Problems with SQL Server availability at the time of the instant withdrawal

I use VMware VCB to backup a virtual computer that is running SQL Server 2005. Hang it works very well when the snapshot was taken, but I'm getting errors in my web applications .NET at the same time that the deletion of the snapshot is in progress. The errors indicate that the SQL Server is not available. Thus, the network does not respond for the snapshot validation process or e/s SQL Server gets interrupted (perhaps through an another quiesce?), when the snapshot is removed. Anyone know why that would happen? Do not hang the OS VMware at time of the instant withdrawal as well?

No patch I know which would cause instant removal to pause the plu VM.  3.5 U2 introduced VSS in the virtual machine, but components that should affect only when a snapshot is created.  Also create the snapshot with smack memory made a break the considerably longer VM, but still affects only the creation of the snapshot not the elimination.
