Product key for disk and the operating system of recovery

Hi all

My question is this - if I ordered a newly purchased set of recovery disc for my DV9700 laptop, done com with a new operating system product key? Or should I use the product key, attached to the laptop? Reason I ask is due to the couple of characters/numbers of the key product is barely understandable. I have to use the old product key, if not it means that the product key itself is stored in the BIOS or there is a set (list) fixed to the product on the recovery for key disc are compared to?

Someone better, please enlighten me. Thank you

Tom

When you reinstall using HP recovery disks, it will be pre-activated key installed, you don't have to do anything

The recovery disks must be for this particular model of Notebook, when you start the Recovery Manager it checks the bios for what is called a tattoo, the tattoo contains information on the laptop, the serial number, model number, number of motherboard, they should match the disks. Nothing to do with the VLK.

VLK = key Volume License

Looks like the seller tried to install Vista recovery disk no HP.

"I should be able to use the recovery disk for my mobile dv9825nr on any other dv9825nr laoptop, right?"

Yes

    Hello

System Restore puts your computer's settings to a date earlied.

You mean that recovery of the system.

There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

Will it work if I just reverse this HARD drive with the operating system for the new portable computer?

Yes, it should work without major problems.

  • VMware - script the creation of the vm and the operating system installation process

    Hello.

Trying to determine the exact steps to automate the entire process of creating a virtual machine, and install a linux OS (Rhel/Centos) in the virtual machine. I need to understand the steps to do it entirely from the CLI using scripts. I have seen a few sites that describe the basic process of creation of the VM, which appears to generate the vmdk file.

I've seen nothing that shows what needs to happen to install the operating system in the virtual machine, in the CLI. This process should be auto/programming, so I can't use the GUI.

I imagine that the whole process will have to call the process/kickstart file and start from that somehow, but I don't see how the elements fit. The goal is to then have a VM with the required OS/Apps that are then run / deployed by external users on their machines.

If this process can work, then we can talk to a Council-expert/vmware on the next phase of the project.

Answer that be detailing how to proceed, or point of item/sites on that would be great!

    Thank you

I just tested on a Linux system and had to perform the installation of VMware VIX - 1.10.1 - 266898 two times.  It is not the first time without any message in the log file.

After a successful installation, I ran a .vmx without first modifying the /usr/lib/vmware-vix/vixwrapper-config.txt file and received the error message waited on the specified version was not found and then after editing it, I was able to run the .vmx using vmrun nogui.

  • How can I move my files and the operating system on a new hard disk on Inspiron 580 s.

My hard drive failed Diagnostics recently and needs to be replaced.  I have since installed a new hard drive in Bay 2. I need to move everything from the old drive to the new drive and delete the old which is completed. So what is the best way to go about this?

    pjrl

The simplest method, I prefer to install a replacement hard drive, is to clone the existing hard drive to the new, that will also transfer all applications and programs.

You need an imaging utility, similar to True Image Home 2015.

    http://www.Acronis.com/homecomputing/products/TrueImage

Acronis resize partitions transferred to match the size of the new hard drive.

Hard drive manufacturers, also have their own free cloning software available, but it can be used only with their hard drives.

First, install the new drive as the secondary and the image of the main hard drive in it.

Immediately after the cloning, shut down the system, switch the data cable [SATA port 0] to the new disk, making the new master hard drive and see if the system boots properly.

Start the system with only the new hard drive connected.

Be sure to leave the original drive disconnected, until the new hard drive is working to your satisfaction.

Before cloning a hard drive, make sure that the existing drive has no corruption or virus on it, because they will be transferred to the new hard drive.

It will take a second SATA data cable, there should be a spare connector to SATA power inside the housing.

  • Windows 7 product key for OEM with the disc no valid retail install. problem from 32 to 64-bit?

I bought a CD OEM Windows 7 a few years when Microsoft was running a promotion for students to go to College.  It was directly from Microsoft, if I remember.  It was just a single CD, just a 32 bit disc and had the CD key.  Installed and everything worked well.  I have clean same Win7 installed again on the same machine a bit down the line.

But I'm upgrading my computer parts and to move to an SSD and use my old HD that has Win7 installed as my main document reader.  I also want to use 64 bit (which takes care of my computer).  I had misplaced my original disc, but was able to borrow a friends to install Win7 64 bit.
The problem that I am running is that, after I installed Win7 and entered my CD he said that it was not valid.  Is the CD key, I got only valid for 32-bit?  Which really sucks if it is haha.  Or is there a problem with the clean installation using a key on a DVD retail OEM?  Like I didn't have this problem when I clean installed since the OEM CD, I had until I lost it.
    Thanks for any info!

They are same edition, if they are not the same edition, the product key will not work. Architecture (32 or 64-bit) has no importance.

Firstly, is this the same edition.
Second, its update, not an OEM license, the meaning:

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

  • Advantages and disadvantages of adding programs and the operating system windows to mac?

For a long time Windows user., new Mac user. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the addition of the windows operating system and programs for the MacBook Pro? I use word and excel regularly, but not yet sure I want or should add capacity to my new Mac.

If you need Windows programs that don't have any equivalent of Mac, there is nothing wrong with it.  I have not because I didn't need Windows programs.

    But...

If you do, you must decide if you need full-system-resources (Bootcamp, boot sector corrupted system, OSX will sleep while Windows is running) or just one-environment virtual (VM, share system resources, runs as a 'guest' to OSX at the same time as OSX).  Bootcamp will have part of your partitioned drive so make sure you have spare disk space.

And if you go Bootcamp, position and spend time in the Bootcamp Boot Camp forum where lonely T is an expert who can guide you.
