Purge of the archivelogs on primary and Standby

Hi all

11.2.0.1

AIX 6.1

I'm tracking use of space in our FRA for DG primary and standby. I want all archivelogs purge once they have been applied in standby. Still, what is the use of it?

I checked google and I found this procedure, will it's okay if this evil?

Primary:

=========

RMAN

{

CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO APPLIED ON STANDBY;

}

On hold:

========

RMAN

{

CONFIGURE THE NONE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY;

}

When I issue the command DELETE NOPROMPT ARCHIVELOGS OBSOLETE?

Thank you very much

zxy

Hello

remove the force archivelog all; Just delete everything he finds little matter whether or not it is necessary. It will remove files that have not been saved and will also remove the files not delivered/applied to forward.

See you soon,.

    Hi, I saw a couple of orders in regard to the purge archive records in a Data Guard configuration.

    I also saw

    CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO SAVED;

    The above only removes logs archiving to the primary or primary and Standby?

    When CONFIGURE you a deletion policy, the configuration applies to all destinations archive

    including the flash recovery area. BACKUP - ENTRY DELETE and DELETE - ARCHIVELOG obey this configuration, like the flash recovery area.

    You can also CONFIGURE an archived redo log political suppression that newspapers are eligible for deletion only after being applied to or transferred to database backup destinations.

    If deletions above archive logs on the primary, is it really remove them (immediately) or does the FRA to delete if space is needed?

    Its a configuration, it will not erase by itself.

    If you want to use FRA for the automatic removal of the archivelogs on a database of physical before you do this:

    1. make sure that DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST is set to FRA - view parameter DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST - and - setting DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST_SIZE

    2. do you have political RMAN primary and Standby set - CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY to APPLY ON ALL STANDBY;

    If you want to keep archives more you can control how long keep logs by adjusting the size of the FRA

    Great example:

    http://emrebaransel.blogspot.com/2009/03/delete-applied-archivelogs-on-standby.html

    All Oracle is worth a peek here:

    http://emrebaransel.blogspot.com/

    That what precedes, and once again it is something that you re primary side?

    I would never use it. I always had it put it this way:

    CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO APPLIED ON ALL STANDBY;

    I would use only 'BACKED UP' for the data protection system. Usually it tell oracle how many times to back up before removing.

    Why would I want my primary ro connect to the RMAN Repository?

    Because if you break down, you want to be able to backup there, too.

    Also if it remains idle for awhile you want.

    Should I only work with the RMAN Repository on the primary or should I be also in things in the deposits of RMAN (i.e. control files) of the standby?

    Always use a database of catalog RMAN with Data Guard.

    If I am (usually mounted but not open) Physics, of standby I able to connect to its own local repository for RMAN (i.e. control based on files) while sleep mode is just mounted?

    Same answer as 5, use a catalog database.

    Similiarly if I have an old lofgical (i.e. effectively read-only), to even connect to the local RMAN Repository of Eve?

    Same answer as 5, use a catalog database.

    What is the most common way to schedule a RMAN backup to such an environment? example cron, planner of the OEM, DBMS_SCHEDULER? MY instinct is cron script as Planner OEM requires running the OEM service and DBMS_SCHEDULER requires the data runs?

    I think cron is still, but they all work. I like cron because the database has a problem at work always reports its results.

    Summary

    Always use a database with RMAN catalog.

    Always use CRF with RMAN.

    Always set the deletion «To APPLY ON ALL STANDBY» policy

    DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST_SIZE determines how long to keep the archives with this configuration.

  • change ip address of the database servers primary and standby

    Hello.

    I have an oracle server primary and backup (version 11.2.0.4) on windows 8 profesional.

    They work well until today.

    Today, I had to change my ip address on both servers.

    After that I changed the ip address of the OS, I changed the ip address in tnsnames.ora and listener.ora files only.

    A moment that everything worked well. But now the archivelog files not copy to the standby server.

    Is there a place where I have to change ip or the settings on the database?

    Please, I hope you can help me.

    Best regards

    1. If it worked for a while after the change of ip address

    3. make sure your journal alerts, what it says? information about the error?

    2. first thing ipadress sequenced in tnsnames.ora and listener.ora on primary and standby

    3. check ping to the host-level work and tnpsing is reached or not. If both are working check listeners are up or not and they are able to identify the services of db, registered or not.

    4. now, connect as sysdba password on the servers file

    5 check v$ achive_Dest_status for valid or relevant destination which is assistance for the transfer of the archives of primary Eve (the error column)

  • How to configure Enterprise Manager Database Control (MCCD) to make it work on 2 servers (primary and standby) work according to the rules of the DG

    Hello everyone I use Oracle Database EE 11.2.0.4 with DG.

    In these cases, I need to get Enterprise Manager Database Control running against DB with no CARS and no DG I do the following:

    I have SQLPLUS logon as user SYS or SYSTEM and drop the account sysman and business objects:

    DECLARE

    CURSOR c1 IS

    SELECT master, synonym_name name

    OF dba_synonyms

    WHERE table_owner = "SYSMAN";

    BEGIN

    TO r1 c1 LOOP

    IF r1.owner = "PUBLIC" THEN

    RUN IMMEDIATELY "DROP PUBLIC SYNONYM ' |" R1. Name;

    ON THE OTHER

    RUN IMMEDIATELY "DROP SYNONYM ' |" R1. Owner: '. ' || R1. Name;

    END IF;

    END LOOP;

    END;

    /

    Mgmt_view DROP USER CASCADE;

    /

    DROP ROLE mgmt_user;

    /

    Sysman DROP USER CASCADE;

    /

    After that, I run

    EMCA - config dbcontrol db-rest recreate

    But what do I do in case I have 2 servers (primary and standby) work according to the rules of the DG?

    Hello

    It is not possible to monitor and administer a basic physical or logical standby, IE using Enterprise Manager Database Control Data Guard.  This is mainly due to the fact that Database Control is designed to monitor the 1-database and an environment Data Guard, by definition, includes more than 1 database.

    If you attempt to run emca against a database of pending, you will get an error like (i.e. ORA-01219: database is not open).

    Of course, database Control, can be used to monitor the current main database (with no capacity to administer or control Data Guard related features).  In such a case, failover Database Control needs to be reconfigured to run on the new primary database using the commands described in detail in Note 278100.1 how to remove, create and recreate DB Control In A Database, section c. recreate/ReConfig DB control, Option 2 10 g. recreate the control DB Configuration files and repository.

    Enterprise Manager Grid Control or Cloud control provides the functionality for display, monitor, and administer the primary and standby databases in a Data Guard configuration.

    Reference: It is Possible to configure the database for a logical or physical Standby Database command? (Doc ID 315116.1)

    You can effectively use EM 12 c cloud control to monitor and manager ensures DB

    Ref to the link for more details below

    Set up and manage to Oracle Data Guard with Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud control 12 c

    All,

    I got a primary and standby that run smoothly... (10.2.0.4 on windows 2003) However, I'm running out of space on my drive root and need to change the location of my files of newspaper archives. I guess I have to change my pfile file and recreate the spfile on both servers of this:

    LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1 =
    "LOCATION = C:\Oracle\flash_recovery_area\PRIM\ARCHIVELOG
    VALID_FOR = (ALL_LOGFILES, ALL_ROLES)
    DB_UNIQUE_NAME = PRIM'

    TO:

    "LOCATION = E:\archive\flash_recovery_area\PRIM\ARCHIVELOG
    VALID_FOR = (ALL_LOGFILES, ALL_ROLES)
    DB_UNIQUE_NAME = PRIM'

    Or can I change the two systems with the location on the fly safely?

    Thank you

    You use LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1 = LOCATION = is for the primary for local path is to say, there is no interest to spread the path archivelog primary on the eve of the database as standby database has its own local path archivelog in the LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1 = LOCATION = parameter which will be affected after switchover mode ensures the primary database.

    Hello

    I have a primary db (11.2) and physical standby

    I understand that I must save archive logs on primary once a while in case the newspapers does not get delivered on time and I have loss the primary db, including newspapers, which couldn't have been shipped...! It's okay?

    I want to configure rman to run twice a day, but my concern is that I don't want rman to delete the archivelogs (remove entry), unless they have been shipped an app in standby mode. How can I configure rman then it deletes only if newspapers is applied in sleep mode?

    Hi all

    I have doubts or errors below. I need help to resolve all issues.
    I have successfully configured Dataguard. Now, the timing is up to date with the following parameters (using 11 g):

    primary:

    Log_archive_dest_1 =
    LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2 = 'SERVICE = Standby.123 arch'
    standby_file_management = auto

    to sandby:
    Log_archive_dest_1 =
    standby_file_management = auto

    Still, I face below messages in the alertliog. Can someone explain clearly all the points.

    Primary:
    ORA-1652: unable to extend temp by 640 segment in tablespace NEWTEMP

    I get this error when my destination archvie had filled later, we published the enough space, the archived generate. Again, I see this message once between the two. Need to solve this problem.

    Primary:
    Checkpoint is not complete (I see this message very often, want to get rid of this)

    standby time:

    standby time:
    Check that the CONTROL_FILE_RECORD_KEEP_TIME initialization parameter is set to a value large enough to keep switch of newspaper afequate information to resolve gaps archivelog. (also get this message between the alertlog standby file)

    Thanks for your reply. I am convinced by your answers. I still have a few things to clarify.

    CONTROL_FILE_RECORD_KEEP_TIME
    I checked the setting, the current value is 7 days. How much should I increase. Is 15 days okay?

    It's OK with me. But then, it's your system. As I said, playing with him until you get the desired result.

    kcrrvslf: active RFS of archiving for newspaper wire 1 sequence (sometimes I see this KCRRVSLF)
    You said, the above message is instructive. What is kcrrvslf mean?

    I don't know what it represents. A search on MetaLink got zero hits. A Google search got a lot of success.

    FAL [client]: error to get the empty sequence, no specified FAL Server (it comes very often to message. How to remove it, what needs to be added. I have to add the Sub settings)
    We use 11g. I never used the parameter below. Can you please highlight the importance of parameters. Is it compulsory to use the parameter?
    When I see all the archives are up to date and SYNC. Always to attack, I get the message FAL [client]: error extracting sequence gap...

  • synchronization between the primary and standby database

    Hi all

    We have 2 database, we have 2 requirment

    (1) making a primary database and secondly of Eve
    (2) synchronization only differential data betwwen the primary and secondary daily.

    Please help me

    Hello

    What is the physical standby?
    Do you have the chance to look over the physics of the standby database.
    You just need to apply daily archived file generated to the standby database. This can be done manually or automatically through data guard.

  • primary and standby - port listening and listening DB port scan

    Hello

    I have two node RAC (11.2.0.3) on Windows 2008R2 and this will serve as a primary database. We have defined scan port listener and listener of the DB in 1521. Now, let's put standby database in two node RAC on virtual machines. Waiting for the database, the two scan listening port and listening DB port should be the same (1521) as main or should we give another port number.

    Hello

    Is it possible to change the IP address to SCAN listener or listener to DB.

    Yes, it is possible to change IP address to scan and listener of the DB.

    To scan all what you need to do is remove the resource from scan

    srvctl remove scan_listener

    srvctl remove scan

    Once did make changes to the OS level (in the file DNS or hosts) according to what is used and add back scanning resources

    srvctl add scan n [k ] [ s /[/ if1 [| if2 |...]]]

    srvctl add scan_listener [-l ] [-s] [Pei [TCP:][/ IPC:] [/ NMP:] [/ TCPS:] [/ SDP:]]

    Or if you have a different set of intellectual property is configured, then you can do the following without remove and add the resources back

    srvctl change scan - n

    srvctl change scan_listener {u: Pei [TCP:][/ IPC:] [/ NMP:] [/ TCPS:] [/ SDP:]}

    And you can also change the listener node as follows intellectual property details

    srvctl change applications {[n - one /[/ if1 [| if2 |...]]] |} [-S /[/ if1 [| if2 |...]]]} [u {public static | dhcp | mixed}] [-e ] [ -l ] [-r ] [-t [:][,[:]...]] [-v].

    srvctl change the listening port [-l ] [o ] [Pei "[TCP:][,...]"] [/ CIB :] [/ NMP :] [/ EPTC :] [/ SDP :] "] [-u ] [-k ]

    I'll put the listener to SCAN and listening port of DB in 1521 in Physical standby database as well. Regarding the information you provided that this should also be acceptable. Please provide your opinion on that.

    Yes, it is acceptable, you can proceed to the same

    I hope that the above answers your question.

  • "The Archivelog file size" and the question of 'db_recovery_file_dest_size.

    Hello

    According to the literature, DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST specifies the default location for the flash recovery area. The flash recovery area contains copies of files of control current multiplexes and remake online of newspapers, but also archived redo logs

    And DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST_SIZE specifies (in bytes) of the strict limit on the total space to be used by the target database recovery files created in the flash recovery area.

    Here's the info from my database (10 gr 2, RHEL 64-bit database is in archivelog mode):

    Log_archive_dest_1 = ' LOCATION = + recovery /'

    db_recovery_file_dest = '+ RECOVERY. "

    db_recovery_file_dest_size = 550 GB

    -Size of archivelog files:

    Select

    SUM(BLOCKS * BLOCK_SIZE)/1024/1024/1024 SIZE_GB

    Of

    V$ ARCHIVED_LOG

    -> 672,39 GB

    If I have question used flash recovery area space, it is to be:

    SELECT name

    , ceil (space_limit / 1024 / 1024) SIZE_M

    , ceil (space_used / 1024 / 1024) USED_M

    , decode (nvl (space_used, 0),)

    0, 0

    ceil ((space_used / space_limit) * 100)) PCT_USED

    V $ recovery_file_dest

    ORDER BY name

    NAME SIZE_M USED_M PCT_USED

    + 563200 8 1 RECOVERY

    I'm confused where are the archivelogs saved if not + recovery?

    Total current total size of ARCHIVELOG files if "672.39" but especially the request saying that only 8% of the db_recovery_file_dest was used. So obviously they are either not in + RECOVERY or they are not accounted for.

    I chedk on ASM using asmcmd:

    ASMCMD > cd ARCHIVELOG

    ASMCMD > ls

    2013_09_05 /.

    2013_09_06 /.

    2013_09_09 /.

    2013_09_10 /.

    2013_09_11 /.

    2013_09_12 /.

    ASMCMD >

    Whereas the query on the view V$ ARCHIVED_LOG shows me the file names for the month of August as well.

    I don't know that I am misunderstanding/missing something. I'm lost :-(

    Please advise!

    Thanks in advance!

    You wrong understand archiving at the area of fast recovery works. You have done the fast recovery area to a certain destination and also set up check-in to the same physical location: but Oracle doesn't know that they are in the same place. You must explicitly set:

    ALTER system set log_archive_dest_1 is 'location = USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST';.

    and then Oracle will understand and follow the space in the paper archive used against the db_recovery_file_dest_size.

    Hello

    You can run sql in below document ASM sqlplus.

    Then, you will come to know which files are files of redundent on ASM diskgroup.

    HOW to map ASM FILES WITH FILES of DATABASE ONLINE (Doc ID 552082.1)

    Delete these additional level of the DSO files, then validate.

    Kind regards

  • DataGuard no synchronization between the primary and Standby databases

    Dear Sir

    If the database is a central problem of corruption in a given segment, an index for example, the synchronization process is always for the other node?

    I found a problem, because the primary database has been altered and block synchronization occurred, because the sequences were in the same paragraph, for making the switch and newspapers registered in the database side, we had problems because the details were not in the second node, so we have problems because the information contained in an instance that was not high school.

    In the Bank primary block has been altered, but not in the secondary block has been altered, you can be?
    Now we have a database with information not included in the other cases, it takes using SQL commands to migrate data from one instance to another.

    Thank you,

    Alexander

    "Corrupted" means the database down? The exact error message after your get?

    Thank you
