Question of cleaning memory of blackBerry Smartphones

Hi all

While not not new to BB, I'm new on my Storm 9530. That being said, I have a question about the memory cleaning option on my BB Storm. Should I allow it and let it run all the time or should I just use if necessary. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you

I leave it on on my Storm. I know that the manual inside the applications folder can actually reduce the amount of RAM free. I had 32MB or so free, ran the Manual vacuum and ended up with about 28 MB.

is it possible to close all running applications to find the memory outside of the battery system.  I also learn that the battery should be removed with the BB market?

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Battery powered pull is a standard procedure, it is a "reboot" as in your PC.

You can close the applications correctly and keep the memory:

Most people close the applications by pressing escape or the red button. This does not close the applications.

Each application has an option CLOSE. For example, if you are in the calendar, press the menu key (spotted) and scroll down to the bottom CLOSE is listed. Go through each application and then press close. Go to the menu press browser and options select cache operations clear all categories and reached escape it will say cleaning memory.

(Your phone may not have this option) Go to options - security - garbage collection - enable. The BB will now clean up the memory when idle for 5 minutes. For memory cleaning make sure you press it, you will have an icon on your screen. Make sure that you use the button CLOSE whenever you're done with an application.

If you follow these steps and face up to your memory, your phone will run smoothly.

  • Maximum memory of blackBerry Smartphones 8350

No one knows what the media memory maximum curve 8350 is capable of?  I want to talk about the micro sd card that you can add to it.  It came with a 1 GB card, which is almost nothing in the songs and video.  I would install a 16 GB card, but what to confirm he will work everything first.  Help, please

Hmmm... It is difficult to be certain, I've never had a 4.6 device or your particular model... mine is on the third line of the Options > on screen, this:

    • v4.7.0.148 (4.0.0.181 platform)

which means, to me, that I am at level OS 4.7, relachez.148 (the current version of VZW for my storm). I do not know if that corresponds to your BB, but maybe this article will be useful:

    • KB04195 Versions of blackBerry Device Software, wireless and networks of frequencies that supports every BlackBerry smartphone model

    Good luck!

  • Memory of blackBerry Smartphones management

    Hi guys,.

I'm new to blackberry and recently got a "BOLD".

In the menu options, I can see the following,.

    Support media card menu: WE

    Mass storage mode support: WE

Auto Enable mass storage mode Yes

Free application memory space: 23 MB

    852 MB free memory

3.8 GB of space free media card memory

I still see the icon count down and check my space memory application, it comes down to 0 . I deleted all applications now, in addition to documents to go!

My question is, is it possible to set the camera to use the card media for application?

Primarily being a nokia user, I am really struggling to understand the concept of memory management Blackberry.

    Thanks in advance.

    Wow, yes it's good.

Simply by pulling the battery and restart 2 x a week of often 2 to 5MB each time.

  • Question of memory of blackBerry Smartphones

Is it possible to move the apps that I downloaded from the memory of the device to the media card.  I tried to download the jour.75 update and was arrested when he said that I ran out of memory.  I have a Garmin GPS loaded on the phone application and several games (from concrete software).  Is it possible to move them to the support card to free up the memory space of the device?

If you take pictures or video, you can specify the storage location in the preferences.

If you move photos from your computer, you can either use the Desktop Manager software or use Windows Explorer, provided your device is set to turn on mass storage Mode.

  • Problems of memory card blackBerry Smartphones

Yo, I have a blackberry "BOLD", I had for a few months now, and whatever, there are so few months it says my memory card will not work. Opens with a post on if the lost clusters are found repair them. I click Yes. It has basically not anything. So we thought ok just get a new memory card. Did. And a few months later almost the same thing. But the thing is. There is nothing wrong with the old card memory, work on the Tablet, computer, and other smartphones, even with the new memory card! But it happened after I have it disconnected from the computer to get the files there. And generally, it's going to do something he did not wid da last memory card. It's starting to say there are about 120 songs n the number should increase for a second, then start decress to only 4 silly songs! And he just pretended that there is no pictures there. I tried to update my phone frm blackberry app world, holding the battery, take out the memory card. Nothing works. Corsica, its most likley the phone. Because the memory card is fine on ANY other device! So if anyone can please have the solution to this, that would be great!

Hello and welcome to the community!

From what you describe, I agree that the problem is with the BB to a level of material - and no amount of OS, software, or internet-remote diagnosis can do something about it. If your BB is still under warranty, then seek assistance through this channel (usually from your place of origin of the purchase). If your BB is not under warranty, then you have a difficult decision... you want to know how much someone would charge you for repairs and then decide if it's worth the expenditure only or just buying a new device.

    Good luck!

  • Memory of blackBerry Smartphones

Hi all, I am a new BB user and I have a Verizon Storm. I noticed something if you go to Options - memory - then look at space Application free memory it starts to nearly 40 MB, and then slowly goes down to as low as 3 MB.

Free memory space appears down the longer it's on and the only way I found to get storage space free back to almost 40 MB is to remove the battery for a few minutes and look at it to reload with a white screen.

I tried the cleaner application memory and saw only minor improvements of a few KB.

I hope it's an arrangement that I hurt because I am new to Black Berry and not leaking memory in the operating system or another application

I think we have a solution here. the link for updates is http://na.blackberry.com/eng/update/

  • Memory card blackBerry Smartphones

    Hi all

Not sure if this has been discussed before and I apologize if it has.  I'm looking on microSDHC memory cards for my bberry.  Someone had problems with one of these based on its size?  I thought to put in a 8 GB card, but the site says to be careful if your camera is capable of handling a memory card of this size.  I'm guessing that this isn't a problem, but shaped I spare me the penalty and fees if a card that large will not work.

    Thanks for your help.

OOOOO one more question.  Does anyone know how to change the text message tone?  ICAN not for the life of me find a way to do it.

    Thank you

    Alex

The media card size is depending on your OS. Read more here:

    http://www.BlackBerry.com/BTSC/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB05461&sliceId=SAL_Pub...

To change your SMS alert tone:

    1. Select the profiles icon

    2. a box will appear where you can quickly choose between Loud, vibrate, quiet, normal, phone only, and outside. If you like quick-change device profiles and select the one you want and get out.

    3. If you want to change the tones assigned to the applications in the device, and then select the last option, advanced options
(some older models and 'Advanced' OS 4.1 and below will not step - so advanced is not present go directly to step 4 below).

    4. Select the profile you want to change. (Loud, vibrate, quiet, Normal (default), phone only, Off)
Note: on the 8100, 8800 and 8300 models: do not click on the trackball. Instead of this, click on the menu button to the left of the trackball).
Note: The profile that is in use will tell: (active)

    5. you will now see a list of all applications that can have an assigned tone (browser, calendar, level 1 Messages, Messages ([email protected]), Messenger, MMS, phone, SMS, job ect..)

    6. Select the application you want to change the tone / notification for

    7. you can now edit the tones of the case and Holster / notifications.
    (a) select between: none, Tone, vibrate, vibrate + tone
    (b) select the range that you want to use
    (c) Select Volume (the options are mute, low, medium, high, climbing)
    (d) to select the number of beeps (the options are 1, 2, 3)
    (e) select Repeat Notification (options are None, flashing LED)
    (f) if value vibrator or vibrate + tone and select number of Vibrations (the options are 1, 2, 3)

    8. repeat a to e for each of the applications set out in number 5 above

  • Memory of blackBerry Smartphones BB Curve Web site

This newby ceases to be msg.  "not enough memory to display, remove tabs, etc." or something like that.  This is obviously a problem of memory, and I added a 4 GB SD card that I use to store some pictures.  The actual operation of the phone memory can be increased... or other BB models occupy more memory?

    Hunter2 wrote:

The addition of the press card has no effect on the memory of the device.

Open your browser > Options > scroll down to clear browsing data:

Make sure that "Cache" is checked, and then click clean now.

Then do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry this way: with smart BlackBerry poweredphone, remove the battery for a minute and then reinsert the battery to restart.

Now, try again on your browser.

  • Use of the memory of blackBerry Smartphones

I'm a little red faced.  But thanks for the instructions to the new Message.  I'm new to blackberry.  I have a lot of emails between different accounts.  This is my first experience with the receipt of e-mail to a "mobile phone".  I have checked through earlier assignments and know that my options are set for 30 days.  All these messages with attachments that have been opened are beings stored on the device memory?  It seems that I'll take five to 10 messages at once, or at least when I check, and I have not the time to remove a.  I also know that I can delete multiple messages as soon as possible.  Please, don't think it's crazy, but I hope that tolerate the elderly, it seems that if I just ignore these messages that I don't want to not display on my blackberry, stored in a bunch? No worries of memory?

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

There are three types of potential memory on a BB: 1) application memory, the device memory) 2 and 3) Media/SD memory card

Application memory - it is the most important; It is protected (not available to the user), dedicated and (fixed size) space as the destination for the installation of applications (more a few storage applications, overhead and other costs). You can't touch AppMemory. You cannot improve the maximum AppMemory that your BB has. It is what it is. Applications can install only here... There is no other choice.

The device memory - it is space on your BB you can touch these files, images, media, etc. In general, it is not very big, but it is available.

Memory card SD/Media - is what it says... your SD card to store files, media, photos, etc.. It can be as large as your BB OS can support... see this KB:

On some devices/OS levels, enforcement and the memory of the device are combined into "free file"... This is, IMO, a little more difficult to administer that you can't see really how AppMemory you have. Nevertheless, here are some tips to use:

In addition, it is always important to correctly close applications when you are finished with them. Using the back or on the red button won't do that - those leave the app to decide what to do... and some let themselves memory-resident, consumes resources on your BB, slowing down the overall performance. Rather, to close an application, press the BBKey and select 'Farm' or 'Quit'... that forces the application to be closed, freeing for your new use the resources it consumed. Some applications will always be running (in general - BBMessenger, browser, homescreen, phone and Messages)... but, you should always close them properly - especially the browser... If we leave on a web page, it will not consume only additional resources, but the power of the battery as well.

Now to your question... Yes, if you do not erase the messages, they take place on your device. But wherever we consume is more delicate than what I described above (there are a few other places of memory... but I did not fully understand those!). Basically, if your device starts running out of space to store messages, it will start delete 'old', even if the timer you have set has not yet expired on these points. It protect themselves first, then try to keep things for you.

As for the attachments... I don't think not that those who download, unless you open in fact the message and then again to open the attachment,... so, if leave you a message without opening it, the only storage that it'll take is the bit of the message itself... the attachment occupies no space if you don't ever get it.

    Good luck!

Before I security wiped my blackberry pearl 9105 I removed the memory card and shortly after I put... Then he said: "a memory card has been inserted that contains encrypted files that won't be accessible by this device please place media card in the initial device to access these files... But this is the original feature: sad smiley: Someone help me please

  • Warning memory of blackBerry Smartphones

I upgraded my Blackberry Bold 9700 to version 6 of version 5. Now, I always get the message that I have little memory. I've not won 50% of my apps and I still get the message. I even uninstalled App World and I still get the message. Is there a way to fix this? Or should I go back to version 5?

The latest version is usually the best choice, but all others should also work.  You still get an untrapped exception or some other error messages?

Please post back with an update.

  • Media files to decrypt memory card blackBerry Smartphones

    Hi all

I need to replace my 9900 and got another. Now I want to access my media files, but it seems that I can not decrypt it.

I'm just using the device password.

Is it possible to get all the return?

So finally the solution is very simple:

If you want to access your files encrypted on a memory card, don't forget that your encryption method is set to password security / unit and you must keep the file BlackBerry/system/info.mkf.

After copying this file on my SD card I could access each media file.

Please note that you do not have access on WhatsApp or similar databases, because they use another encryption method, see http://www.blackberry.com/developers/docs/7.1.0api/net/rim/device/api/database/DatabaseSecurityOptio....
