    Hi all

We know most or all W510 or other models of ThinkPad with Conexant HD SmartAudio 20585 are affected by the poor quality of the sound.

I have a few questions to ask, because I have not used or tried before external sound card.

1 - is the external PCMCIA / its USB, card work with speakers inside the machine?

    2. If the built-in speaker can work with external PCMCIA / USB sound card, is the sound quality and volume of music being improved?

    Thank you

    Hi PeterTWJ,

    (1) would like to know what you mean by work with the built-in speakers? u means you want to use an external sound card to drive the speaker built into the laptop?

I want to say that external USB sound/PCMCIA card does the built-in speaker allows you only to speaker external drive.

  • Basic PCMCIA question: where is the controller?

    Hello people,

I have a basic question of the PCMCIA:

The PCMCIA controller is integrated on the motherboard or does the PCMCIA device?

Practicality: if I want to change the PCMCIA in a laptop, I can change everything (part mechanical + electronic) or simply the mechanical part?

I have a mono-emplacement controller, and I would have a dual slot PCMCIA. If the controller is on the motherboard, I have no chance of success.

    Thank you:

    UB

The controller is on the motherboard. Pcmcia slot unit is removable, as stated above, but it's just a cage to hold the cards... no chip is in it other than a plug-in interface on the motherboard which channels to the pcmcia controller.

    Hello world

    1. How do you pronounce Qosmio?
    2. can we my son attach a PS2 and use the screen for his games?
3 are there the PCMCIA slots on these machines?

    Hello

Self-monitoring analysis and Reporting Technology (or S.M.A.R.T.) is a technology that allows a PC to in some cases predict future failure storage devices. This SMART technology is present in your drive, but by default is set to off on your drive. To use the feature S.M.A.R.T. would require you a software (or BIOS) which allows and monitors the Smart status of your hard drive.

HARD disk speed is unfortunately unknown to me.

I'm sure that the TV tuner is set to Pal if you will buy it in the United Kingdom and may not be changed for NTSC.

Qosmio G10 106 has 4 x USB ports and Bluetooth is not available.

  • Portege R200: PCMCIA Vodafone 3 G question map

I looked on the technical specifications, but can not see if she will allow a PCMCIA Vodafone 3 G card. No one knows if she please?

    anyway I can do?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

According to a few features that I found on the net the Portege supports only type II PCMCIA cards.
I think you should check the manual of this PCMCIA card and you'll know if this card is supported or not.

  • Re: Satellite Pro A60 - PCMCIA WLAN card does not question CardBus

I received an A60 to upgrade for a friend and one of the necessary things is a wireless card.

I got a 32-bit cardbus card but when I insert into the laptop, nothing happens. XP does not recognize, the oo lights do not come on the map.
First I thought it was a faulty card but I tried other cards and get the same results and I reinstalled XP and all the drivers but nothing.

I've seen other messages on the change of the mode in the BIOS, but there is no mention of the CardBus in the BIOS.
The laptop uses the BIOS version 1.9. I just want to check is there something escapes me or the CardBus location just does not work?

    Hello

Satellite Pro A60 was equipped with the 32-bit and 16-bit PCMCIA slot that supports PCMCIA card * Type-II * only!

Have you used the * PCMCIA Type-II card?

Perhaps you have used is not compatible PCMCIA card, you should check this first!

  • PCMCIA question on portege R200

PPR20A Portege R200 - recently went to Toshiba service for problem with network LAN card, came back LAN network card works fine now (lost packets previously). Running XP Professional SP2.

Now have a problem with installing an Aircard card in the PCMCIA slot - before taken in charge worked well, but since then have not been able to install properly. Have consulted widely with the seller, the drivers updated and the device firmware (camera works very well in other laptops). Restored the operating system and recovery applications.

The Manager of active devices and shows that the pcmcia adapter is generic type (for example, Microsoft). Uninstalled the generic driver, downloaded and installed the drivers from toshiba but install is not to recognize the new drivers and Hardware Wizard adds a driver credits back.

    What Miss me?

Have updated the BIOS to V1.6, verified status all drivers and all are up-to-date.

    It does not compute...

    Someone has an idea?

    Hey Buddy,

If you have already done everything to make this thing work, then you should contact the service center where you sent your machine before and tell them that your pcmcia/cardbus is working properly.
    But before that, try this:
Download linux live-cd like knoppix, boot your computer with the cd and check if the same problem under linux. I mean if the card is not properly recognized. Usually, the card must be recognized and you should be able to use your wireless card (I guess Aircard means wireless card)

If the card works then backup all your data on your hard drive and recover you your machine. After recovery, everything should work again.

  • Question about VGA PCMCIA satellite 1950 801

Anyone know if it is the PCMCIA VGA card with chipset market later than nvidia geforce 460 go to upgrade my satellite 1950 801 (with nvidia geforce 460go)?

    Thanks in advance

The best unfortuantely adapter Pcmcia you get for PCMCIA is 4 MB of video memory. This is because the size and heat all became issues and could not get into a PCMCIA card.

Sorry, it's not that you can do.

  • new cards for old R31 + D-link router wireless?

    Hi, I'm a P3 R31 / 512 MB ram / running XP Pro / 30 GB HARD drive - it should arrive in a day or two.

I had a few questions - I wanted to know if I can use some new adapters cardbus pcmcia wireless with this machine.

What I wanted to do with this laptop was whether my current wired computer network. This is why I get out the old router for that. From there on, I won't be able to transfer large files, play music video to tell a hard drive within the network to the R31 - if possible *.

I have an old router D - Link DI-624 (single antenna). I couldn't find the older cardbus adapters aroud locally (i.e. DWL-G650) here - I can get you one of the newer but...

I thought since I'm this old router, I would combine it with a more recent D-Link cardbus: what are my options:

Thank you for your time and help!

    Welcome to the forum!

Any PCMCIA wireless card will work fine with an R31, but the first that you have linked is a map of "N" and your router does not support the "N", so it would be a waste...

I used Ralink RT2500 with my last R31 and a similar to your router and was very happy. Check price eBay and Google.

    I hope this helps.

  • Dialup modem satellite A30-203 questions

I have a 203 SA30 about 3½ years on which the built in V90 modem failed 2 years ago. I use it now and again for internet dial-up when I go to the USA on vacation and since then, I have been using a PCMCIA modem.

I tried some of the solutions previously listed on this forum without success and thought I'd try the recovery disks provided with the machine.

My question is what are the traps to achieve as a limited Rémy PC. I am fully aware that I have to back up all my files and re-install programs and disks will take me back to its original state.

I will also have to sit for a few hours, get updates (including service pack 2).
I fear, however, that this can take a few unexpected problems that I can't manage and end up with a useless machine. Is it a matter of just follow the instructions on the screen?

Shows Device Manager all is well with the modem and it is listed as a Toshiba Software modem by Agere (PCI Bus 0, device 31, function 6) and the pilot is the last 'available. '

    Can anyone help please?

    Hi Ben,

Don't be too worried to reinstall your OS recovery CD. As you have already said, you will need to back up your own files first and then re - install extra software once the recovery of the operating system is complete.

If you use Microsoft Update, and then the required updates will be loaded in the correct order and you will be asked to restart from time to time.

It is very important that following the recovery process, you install and configure your antivirus product before connect you to the internet for the first time and you also need to update the virus database. The technique for this will depend on which anti-virus product you are using.

    Good luck

  • Satellite A100-259 and PCMCIA card reader no longer works

I have a Satellite A100-259, I've had for about a year with no problems... so far, the PCMCIA card slot reader seems to have stopped working.

When I insert a card reader SD PCMCIA discover the laptop hardware as a "PCMCIA UNKNOWN_MANUFACTURE' and subsequently can not find the drivers for it. I tried a couple of different PCMCIA devices and get the same question every time, I checked also double the card reader works by trying it in PC laptop Toshiba-not to the woman.

The PC is a XP/Vista installation start-up duel and I get the same question under each operating system. I also think that it may have started after I installed upgrading the BIOS to 2.20.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, b
    Kind regards.

Try to access the BIOS and set the defaults.
Don t forget to save the settings after the change.

By the way; Are you trying to reinstall the PCMCIA driver?
Go to the Device Manager and remove the PCMCIA computer location.
Then restart the laptop and check if Windows detects and installs the removed slot.

    Good luck

  • Satellite Pro M70: Question on the port on the left hand side

Another question regarding the Pro M70 PSM75E, next to the hard drive (left side) there is a port which you can take off. I took it of and it looks like a chip grafx or something: s someone with the M70 not what it is.

    Thanks again

    Hello

Well, there are of many Satellite Pro M70. It s a great series.
But for example Satellite Pro M70-110 has a PCMCIA Type II slot.
You can use the different PCMICA card in this slot. But they must be compatible.
I guess this slot machine, you found a plastic Board. This is only for security.

However, if you want to learn more about your device, I would recommend reading the user manual which must be preinstalled on your laptop. You will find very, very, very ;) useful information.

  • PCMCIA slot stopped working on Satellite Pro A40

    Hello

I have a SPA40 and it seems that the PCMCIA port has stopped working.
I had a Netgear WN511b wireless network adapter is connected and works fine.
Returned to the laptop after a few hours and everything froze upwards. Rebotted and got a * IDE 1 error * and since then the card did not work.

I tried the card in another phone, and it seems to work very well, and therefore assume that the slot became defective. I looked at the Device Manager and everything seems t work very well.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I could try to fix this.

    Thanks a lot, in anticipation.

    Steve

    Hello

I wonder about the error message.
The error message what IDE #1 said that the device connected to the #1 IDE controller was not recognized by the BIOS.
In most cases the CD/DVD drive is connected to the IDE controller, and so your CD/DVD drive should not be recognized.

In your case, I would recommend access the BIOS, and then to set the BIOS parameters returned by default.

But I'm not sure if this would help you because in most cases, this question appears due to a hardware problem. And in most cases the affected material must be replaced.

  • Satellite M40x-105 - PCMCIA wireless LAN card

    Hi guys. One question.

In a Toshiba Satellite M40X-105 that has a pcmcia Type II card slot, will be this LAN card wireless ZYXEL G-170 s card 802.11 wireless g CardBus, work? Card CardBus is only compatible with pitches type II 32-bit card right?

Is the laptop has a map of 32 or 16 bits? Thank you

    Hey,.

In general I put t see a reason why it should not work = PC card slot PCMCIA slot.
Only cards express don t work because express card is the successor of PCMCIA.

An alternative you can buy a USB key with the WLAN functionality if you prefer this way. ;)
