  CS5 cannot go higher than 6.7. If your device requires a more recent version, download the free Adobe dng converter. You convert your RAW to DNG, which can then be processed 6.7 in camera raw.

  I followed the instructions from Adobe to check that I have the good RAW plugin (7.0.0.308) that I have.  I uninstalled the software and reinstalled the software without success.  I don't want to convert my RAW files in the DNG files, so I ignored this step.

  The statement "Open in Photoshop" in Lightroom 4 does not open my RAW D800 files either, although the files can be opened in Lightroom 4 OK.

  I downloaded and installed several actions for elements8 this afternoon.  I also downloaded a couple for photoshop which were auto install.  I clicked on landscap_and_sky_action_by_fcpr, rar.  I thought it would open and I could install the action like others.  Apparently, it is installed as if\t was supposed to (just in the woring program.)  Some little time after that I tried a new RAW file downloaded from my camera at home.  I got the error message, failed to open (file name and full path), because it is the wrong type of file.

  I tried to open raw files with the file open and file open as specifying that the file is a raw file.

  I also tried to open an older RAW file with the same results (previously opened before today).

  This is the first time I had this problem.  I've been using RAW files for the last year and a half without any problems.

  My best guess is that rar file corrupted a file somewhere, but I have no idea where.

  Finally, I uninstalled items 8 and reinstalled.  The same problem.  I noticed that during the uninstall of the elements, it does not erase the directories and many files.  I have hestiated because I have a massive set of photos in the Organizer, have updated the Camera RAW database (after it worked) and added several features (effects) to the elements.

  Any suggestions on a fix.

  Sometimes I more think that solutions.  After backup of the organiser, who needed to do anyway, and get a good nights sleep, I had an idea.  Why not replace the Camera RAW 6.2 file and see if that fixes the problem.  Yes he did.  Camera Raw works as if should be, and I don't have to replace all these add-ons.

  Thanks for all the help.  Barbara you were on the right path, speaking to the Camera Raw files that give me probably inspired for the replacement.  I noticed that on my computer the camera RAW file was not exactly the location given by Adobe.  It is under Programs86 instead of programs.

  Reasently I bought a new camera, a Canon EOS 100 d and it was quite a surprise when I noticed that my RAW files from my new camera does not open in my PS CS5. Someone knows how to fix this? Without having to buy a new version of PS. Thanks for any help.

  You can download the free DNG Converter. Otehrwise indeed upgrade to a newer version of Ps is your only option if you want to open them directly.

  The T6i has been fully supported by Camera Raw 9, but this version is only compatible with CS6 and Cloud versions. You will never be able to open files Raw T6i in CS5. If you choose not to join the Cloud, then you will need to use the DNG Converter.

  This isn't how the DNG Converter.

  The DNG Converter batch converts folders of Raw files to DNG. Put your CR2 files in a folder ready for conversion, then point the DNG Converter on the folder containing Raw files and let it do its thing. You can then open the DNG files in CS5.

  You don't need the DNG Converter. CS6 is compatible with Camera Raw up to version 9.1.1 (the latest version with CS6 is compatible).

  What is your new camera? Most likely, you will need to use the free dng, as CS5 converter if old enough and will be not supported current camera raw updates

• How to export from Lightroom to Photoshop 2014 using 8-bit color?

  In LR when I rt - click in the image area, a menu will appear. I choose export, then Photoshop 2014.  I said "Edit with Lightroom adjustments.  When the image appears in Photoshop it indeed that adjustments, but the depth of color is still 32-bit. It became embarrassing for then down adjust the color depth of 8-bit color, and I wonder if there is a hidden export setting that will allow me to export the image to 8-bit.

  You can set that in Lightroom preferences see the capture screen.

  I'm surprised that it is not the Adobe DNG Converter 6.6.6 - 1 d because I downloaded and installed this plugin (after installing the update of 6.6 DNG) for Mac OS.

• Carmera dng raw files does not open

  When I try to open a dng file in camera raw (windows), the image shows as a yellow square on a blue background. In our old version (PS CS6) on our Imac pro Office ITI opens normal.

  Please disable the use of the GPU in Photoshop (new version you have installed)

  • Go in Edition > Preferences > Camera raw preferences
  • Uncheck the graphic processor utilization
  • Restart Photoshop

  When you use the DNG Converter, you must point to a folder that contains files raw, and it will then create DNG that you can open in Photoshop or import into Lightroom. Your original raw files are not changed.

  Note that you cannot use the converter on single files. You must point to a folder, and all the raw in this folder files will be converted.
