Re: Satellite A210 - logo LED exploded

After installing XP, the LED of the 'satellite' logo never eases.
How can I activate this LED?

If I m recall this can be enabled in the advanced settings of the BIOS. Check it out!

  • Satellite A210-17I extinguished but battery led amber goes when reconnected AC

I've seen a few discussions on the batteries is discharged quickly.
To be honest, when my Satellite A210-17I is on batteries, they last for 1 hour + / 15 min and recharge relatively fast.

The strange thing is when I worked on AC and stop and unplug all night, I always find the battery when connecting to Acre the next orange light.

It happened when I had only Vista as well as now with only XP in the boot menu (Vista still not deleted).
I have no alarm clock apps in the start menu and could not understand what Windows or Toshiba apps should force the laptop to wake up while it is turned off.

Someone at - he a clue, any similar experiences, comments?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Sorry, but I could t find problems with your laptop.
Is that battery working time depends on the use of the laptop.
I have an A210 with an AMD processor and my battery out lasts for about 1 hour 20 minutes using only internet Explorer.
The point is that all parts high performance like CPU and GPU ATI needs and wastes a lot of energy when running it only with the battery.

    > The strange thing is when I worked on AC and stop and unplug all night, I always find the battery when connecting to Acre the next orange light.
It is perhaps strange to you, but this is normal behavior for laptop.
A wake on LAN (WOL) function could be the reason for the flow of this power.

    Check this doc from Toshiba:
[Battery draining 15-20% when it is turned off during the night | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB6B01N50013R01.htm]

On the other hand, the battery still loses 2-4% of the power. Also if the WOL function would be disabled.
There is also an interesting Toshiba doc who could confirm.
[My unit loses 2-4% battery by turning the device off then turn it back on. | http://APS2.Toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB6B01MY000WR01.htm]

  • Satellite A210 - 1 4 frequently freezes when starting Windows 7

    Hello

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A210 - 1 4 and updated upgraded to Windows 7 later. I have a problem in which case frequently the OS crashes during startup. This often happens and happens after the text "Starting Windows" appears, but before the windows logo appears. In this case I have to press CTRL + ALT + DELETE to reset the system and bring back to life, Windows 7 starts normally after that.

I tried to reinstall Windows 7 and it still does not work. I use the 32 bit version if that makes a difference. I installed all the drivers of Toshiba using the [Toshiba Software Installer | http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/downloadDetail.jsp?soid=2475695&pf=true] and the problem still persists.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello

Recommends checking the HARD drive first.

There is a nice tool called Drive Fitness Test which can be downloaded from some 3rd party pages.
The tool is free and helps you run HARD drive Diagnostics tests.
If the HARD drive is ok, then the next step should be checking the RAM.

Tools such as memtest86 + could be used to test the memory.

But even if there is no error, the RAM could be affected again I recommend that you test the new notebook with Rams

By the way: check if the BIOS is up to date!

  • Satellite A210 - 1 4 - possible signs of a hard drive failure

    Hello

I use a Toshiba Satellite A210 - 1 4 and think that the hard drive may be showing signs of failure.

    _The symptoms are: _

    * While the Windows 7 boot frequently stops at 'Starting Windows' screen (before the Windows logo appeared) and all HARD drive activity stops meaning a hard reset is necessary to bring him back.

    * When I unplug the power cord on Windows 7, the computer freezes usually with nothing happens and stop any HARD drive activity, once again a hard reset is required to bring back to life.

What are these early signs of HARD drive failure or is there something else wrong?

    Hey Buddy,

For me it doesn t look like the HARD drive malfunction if Windows 7 stops when starting or freezes when you unplug the AC adapter

Have you already tried to reinstall the operating system? It could be the software problem.

If you still want to check your drive HARD uses a disk HARD Drive Fitness Test as a diagnostic tool. It s freeware so you can find it if you search on Google.

  • Satellite A210-1AP - battery and power supply problem

A few weeks ago I received my laptop (Satellite A210) reapair and the motherboard was changed.

Since then, I got problem with the battery when it is inside and power cable is pluged.
When the cable is in the laptop running on battery power I do not know why. Then when I turn it off battery led is lit Orange and the battery is charging.
When the PC is turned on, the indicator light does not work and the battery becomes lower.

So I wonder what the problem is.
I read somewhere that this problem could solve the BIOS update.
So anyone have experience like this.
Also how is installed BIOS, I saw there is an installer for windows (so I guess it isn't hard).

And somehow can back up old BIOS so I can go back if something bad happens.

    > A few weeks I got my laptop (Satellite A210) reapair and the motherboard was changed.
    > Since then, I had problem with the battery when it is inside and power cable is pluged.

In my opinion, the technician has done something wrong
The point is that this problem occurs after the exchange of motherboard and I think what this is about.

Contact the ASP who repaired the laptop and explain your problem.
I doubt that a BIOS update would solve this problem. I think it s a question an electrician

This model is not longer supported?

    Ronald

    Hello

You can enter the BIOS settings? If you can do this by using F2 to start together to check and default settings if the same thing will happen again. You can try to put the bootable disc in ODD and try to check if you have access to the HARD drive.

If the same thing will happen again and again I'm afraid the motherboard is a failure of m.

  • Satellite A210-183 starts black screen no

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A210-183 and I change the OS from vista to XP Home when I did that I was getting the error 0251: CMOS checksum error press f1 to continue

I reinstalled Vista recovery and everything was ok.
So I thought it might be a windows problem. I reinstalled XP home and I ran the update for SP3.

After the computer starts, but nothing appears on the screen, not even BIOS

    Help me please

You see the Toshiba Logo? Did you recently change any material? Install more memory?

I try swapping around memory, or try a single module, in which case one is defective.

I noticed some Toshiba models have a separate BIOS for XP and Vista. To check for a proper BIOS Toshiba website, if there is no dedicated XP BIOS, just updated the BIOS with the latest version.

XP SP3 is known to cause problems on some PCs. I could install XP SP2 instead and see how it goes.

  • My Satellite A210-183 stops randomly

My Satellite A210 stops leaving to chance the power led and HDD led orange and on / off as the HD works.
The only way to restart is to take off the power, remove the battery for a few seconds and then restart...

It cannot be the battery as it does with the battery as well.

    Help!

Have you noticed a temperature higher in Notepad?

If yes then the laptop stops due to a higher temperature. Usually this called overheating and the laptop stops automatically to prevent the equipment from damage.
In most cases, the vents are clogged and air cannot circulate properly.

I think that if you take away the dust from the cooling fans and grills so the laptop is running more stable.
You can remove the dust using a jet of compressed air.

In addition, make sure that there is enough free space around the laptop.
Which helps to maintain the temperature at the lower level.

    Good bye

  • Cannot connect to my Satellite A210 adapter for access point

    Hey everybody...

I have a little problem with my wireless. We have some books and access point. Everyone can connect to access point except me. I have the Satellite A210-127. Do you know where is the problem? How can I connect to the access point?

    Thank you

In a first time, you must activate WLAN antenna correctly. Upon first use WLAN switch and set it TO position (the LED will be ON). Next step is to use the FN + F8 key combination. Don't forget THAT WLAN is enabled.

After this use please ConfigFree radar to see if the access point is visible for your laptop.

  • Satellite A210 - BIOS does not work after upgrade

    Hello

I have a satellite A210-17 for a few years now, but I made the mistake to go to the Microsoft Web site
to make a BIOS setting to day and once I installed upgrading BIOS, that the laptop did not return ever on, black screen.

I brought a guy in the month city 3 or 4 he is, he said, it could replace a bios chip if necessary
but did nothing or I would have heard of him now.

Is it possible that I can get the bios chip and have him install for me?
I don't have 200 euros to replace the whole motherboard.

This laptop was brilliant before that.

    Thanks in advance

Update the BIOS is a very serious procedure, and the use of fake and not compatible BIOS would damage the motherboard.

To be honest, I don t think that the replacement of the EPROM would help you that of course, the BIOS is stored on EPROM module but in most cases this chip is soldered to the motherboard and the EPROM replacement will not be easy

To my knowledge the EPROM module could be flashed once more using the crisis disk BIOS and the special procedure. Usually, these updates of the crisis of the BIOS can be done by maintainer authorized Toshiba and that don t require the replacement of the EPROM module.

I also read in this forum that some guy tried to Flash the EPROM module to clean hands in some cases, it worked, but in different cases such update does not work correctly

However, I recommend you to use the advanced search option forum and check a few different discussions on crisis disk BIOS / update

Otherwise I recommend you contact the Toshiba ASP in your country and products BIOS Update of the crisis

  • How to remove the password of BIOS on my Satellite A210-17Z?

    Hi friends,
I left my Toshiba Satellite A210-17Z unused more than 2 months and when I want to use I forgot my BIOS password. I searched everywhere on the net how can I reset it I have not found an answer. All of the given methods does not work.

Can someone help me to show me how I can solve this problem.
    THX

    Hello Benmem

BIOS password removal is very important security feature and we can not debate on this subject on a public forum, especially on a support forum created by laptop manufacturer. In the past, we have discussed several times about this.

In such a situation, you should contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and they can do it for you. All I know is that Toshiba has several different methods for BIOS password removal.

  • Satellite A210-12U - no lights come on or anything like that

I have a Satellite A210-12U who died on me. I wasn't doing anything special, just posting on a bulletin board, one just like this and the power died, almost as a power cut, without warning. It was plugged in at the time. And now it is completely dead, no light doesn't come on or anything like that. Power cord is fine, just like the battery because the two work very well on my L500-11N. I tried out the battery and the power cord, hold the power button for more than 30 seconds and the replacement, but he's still dead. Is there some sort of internal fuse?

I thought it might be some sort of internal fuse, but have no idea if she has one, it is unlikely, if yes, can I change myself, and where can I find?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Buddy,

I had a similar problem last year and I did the following steps:

-Disconnect the battery and the AC adapter
-Wait at least an hour or over night for example
-Reconnect the two (battery and AC/DC adapter)
    -Try to start the laptop

If that doesn t work, this seems to be a malfunction of the equipment. Maybe the card mother, AC/DC adapter or something else
You should ask your local ASP help ;)

  • Satellite A210 - 1 4 do not recognize the optical disc drive

    I have a satellite A210 - 1 4 who recognize the strange.
The drive has power and running disks but does not appear as a drive in MY COMPUTER.

It is also not recognized in the Bios.
I updated the Bios and tried to install the firmware but the message that the drive is not found.

I tried in another computer and it works fine.
If anyone has had similar problems, and is there a solution?

    Thank you very much

    > I tried in another computer and it works fine.
You have tested optical drive in another computer?
In any case, if the STRANGE is not recognized in the BIOS I'm afraid controller ODD m is defective. It comes to the motherboard so there is not some sort of easy solution.
I don't think you can do much except to swap the motherboard.

  • Satellite A210-171 - curriculum vitae of Vista failed

Satellite A210-171 running Windows Vista 32-bit Home.
At the start, I have Windows RESUME loader screen showing error and asking to choose either 'continue with system summary' or 'Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu. BUT the keyboard does not respond (not even to select the caps lock). Must turn off switch to restart.

All on a touch after the startup splash screen Toshiba produces a blank screen (same f8 and other function keys).
Tried default BIOS settings to no effect.

This problem occurred a few months before and has been resolved by wiping of hard disk and put on a fresh copy of windows from a CD of Vista. Now, it's back--cannot keep from scratch!

To be honest I n don't know what can be the reason of this problem. If you don t have some important data saved to disk HARD reinstall Vista with recovery DVDs.
When bring you your laptop, press F12 to enter the boot menu, put the recovery DVD in the optical disc drive, choose the CD/DVD drive in the menu and press ENTER.

Just follow the menu on the screen and reinstall Vista.

By the way: this model works perfectly with Win7 32 bit so if there is a possibility, I recommend you to use Win7.

  • Satellite A210-171 - maximum capacity of a hard drive?

What is the max HDD capacity satellite a210-171 may take?

    Hi turboiwan,

As much I know satellite A210-171 has already interface SATA HARD drive so that you can install each HARD drive with this interface because the standard SATA are without capacity limits. This means that hard drives of 500 GB or more may work.

For example, I upgraded my laptop with 500 GB Western Digital drive HARD and this worked great.
