ReadyReports IIS Application Pool Configuration

Hello!

I'm tuning a production for better performance server and passed through the IIS Application Pool settings. I noticed that the IIS application pool created by the installer of ReadyReports followed different health and parameters of quick failure than what is recommended for other application pools in the installation guide. The values in the readyreports application pool are the default IIS is not clear if they have been defined like that on the end or if it is an oversight. Mention the readyreports installation guide change the identity of the application pool, but says nothing about these other settings.

While I did all the tests that have been instrumented, I believe that the monitoring of health and rapid failure protection could lead to recycling of unnecessary work processes (that's why I guess the P4P Installation Guide recommends turn them off) causing ReadyReports load slowly so I would disable these features in the application pool, except if they were left on intentionally by the installer probably with good reason.

They were left on intentionally?

Best regards

Clint

Hi Clint,.

It's just an oversight - P4P recommendations Installation Guide is applicable for this application pool as well.

I made an update of the test CF9.0.1 + CHF4 installation and then updated on web servers remote IIS 6, running 32-bit wsconfig.jar application pools. IIS connections to servers remote backend ColdFusion failed; I stepped back to old wsconfig.jar

Wsconfig.jar that is updated with ColdFusion 9 Update 1 does not work with our IIS6 web 32-bit application pools; older wsconfig.jar [JRun 4.0 (Build 108795) JRun ISAPI Extension - August 29, 2009 11:51:27] work with the 32-bit application pools.

    Question: can I I safely old wsconfig.jar on 32-bit IIS 6 application pools run [JRun 4.0 (Build 108795) JRun ISAPI Extension - August 29, 2009 11:51:27] CF 9.0.1 + CHF4?

    Hi Scott,.

    Thanks for posting your request.

What is your ColdFusion installed as 64 bit or 32 bit?

Yes, you are right that there is difference of Wsconfig utility 9.0.0 CF and CF 9.0.1. However, you can still use ColdFusion 9.0.1 with 32-bit AppPool. You must make some changes manually to make it work.

When you create the connector with this utility, and if you're running 64 bit CF 9, you will need to replace the 32-bit dll in the wsconfig folder to your workinig app that uses 32-bit AppPool.

  • Application pools and CF9 64-bit and Windows 2008 R2 64-bit

    Hi all.

    Since about 3 months ago, I got CF9 64-bit running successfully on a Windows 2008 R2 64-bit, and 64-bit PHP server.

It was a few days get it all working happily together, but it's an entirely different discussion, I'm happy to help if someone at - it need help.

My question is for someone with some experience and understanding of the relationship between IIS 7, Cold Fusion and Application Pools.

We have 8 GB of RAM on a 3.2 GHz dual processor box.  And on this particular server, we have about 350 sites of cold fusion.  All sites of very low traffic, I should add.  Like maybe on average 1000 page clicks each day.  In any case these sites ran flawlessly on 2 GB of RAM box with two 1 GHz processors.  And honestly, it ran more surely than it does now.

What role the Application Pools in an environment dedicated to Cold Fusion?

Because only one instance of JRun is already launched, SEE crashes when requests overwhelms the box and it blocks.  So, kind of defeated the purpose of the independent application in my opinion Pools.

During my installation and transfer of these sites, I gave them each their own independent Application Pool, which are now individual instances of IIS worker process, each using about 10 MB of RAM.  Thus, for example, if the interaction that happens with 200 websites that they eat up to 2 GB of RAM, which, although not large, is very well now.  The problem is that I intend to leave this machine reach 500 sites before adding another box, but I worry about the performance.

    FUNDAMENTAL QUESTIONS:

Should cold fusion Pools of independent applications for each web site or all websites can be used under DefaultAppPool?

And what are the advantages and disadvantages of the two options?

Is there a setting I should change who will say active stop w3wp.exe instances if no activity takes place for a certain period of time to release the memory.

    Thanks for any input.

    Rush, the bottom line questions:

Should cold fusion Pools of independent for each web site applications or can

all of these Web sites running under DefaultAppPool?

No, it's not 'need '. They can all run in a pool. It is probably best to split them somehow, so that is something is not bad in a single application pool, at least those of the other application pool still works.

And what are the advantages and disadvantages of the two options?

As you note, each application pool uses a little memory. Not much, but as you note, 200 + it adds up. FWIW, the application pool is also part of the connection between IIS and CF, and there are times where just a recycling application pool (rather than restart CF) can solve a problem.

That said, there certainly are times where CF will be what does not, and it won't matter to the application pools how you have. That's really what you want to focus on: why (if ever) SEE becomes is not responding.

Is there a setting I should change who will say active

instances of w3wp.exe to stop if no activity takes place for a certain

    time to release the memory.

It is the default behavior of the application pools. See the "Advanced settings" for each pool in IIS 7 (or for her properties in IIS 6) for the recycling of various parameters of health protection.

To return to your root cause problem (CF becomes unresponsive), anyway, you say "these sites were without fault on 2 GB of RAM box with two 1 GHz processors.  And honestly he ran more surely than it does now. "So what was 'before '? Not just less memory, I guess. He was also 32-bit instead? Was that an earlier version of the CF? It is useful for you to be more specific.

Again, everything that is wrong is an explanation. It looks like you use the CF Server (not multiserver) mode, until you find in the coldfusion9\runtime\logs (not the coldfusion9\logs)? There may be important information before your plant that explains what is happening.

As for your struggles get CF running on IIS 7, I'm curious: was it the 9.0? If Yes, what 9.0.1 (the free updater, which must be installed today on a download of CF9) which supported for IIS 7. Previously, it was indeed a little manual to make work work. And in fact, it may be that an update to version 9.0.1 could help resolve some problems if your manual configuration efforts could have hurt at all.

Hope some of it is useful.

It is an account created in Active directory with rights of BatchLogon and LogonAsService, so the boot pool normally, but when I open the web application in the browser competition is not displayed correctly, but if I place a built-in in the application pool account, my web application works without errors.

  • Updated 14 causes application pool shutdown

ColdFusion 10 14 update causes a stop of application pool on one of our servers 2012/IIS8.5. Has anyone else had problems? We had to roll back to update 12.

    Kind regards

    Mark

Finally on this thread, Adobe engineering, after pouring on all of our newspapers, finally confirmed that there was actually a bug in the ISAPI connector for update 14. A fixed connector was planned and this has solved the problem of the crash of application on our IIS 8.5 server pool. The connector must be installed manually; do it via the CF Admin led to a crash of the server (error 503) when the connection tool has been executed to add. Strangely, the connection tool also are not all sites trying to add/remove the connectors, even when run as an administrator. Adobe tell us of this 15 update includes the fixes that we received.

  • Cf11 crashes (application pool suffered a fatal miscommunication with the to Windows Process Activation Service)

I have a cluster of 2 servers web IIS on Windows Server 2008 R2. They were executed on CF10 for over a year (if there are not two) without any problem. I've upgraded a server to CF11 and now this server crashes then CF10 servers still works fine.

I see 4 instances of this error in the Windows event log:

«A process serving application pool ' *' suffered fatal miscommunication with the to Windows Process Activation Service.» The process id was '4652'. The data field contains the error number. »

    Then finally:

"Application pool ' *' is automatically disabled due to a series of failures in the process serving the application pool."

Looking at the application pool in IIS administration, he is arrested. Reboot will solve, but it will eventually crash.

    What could be the problem?

    -Phil

I didn't turn off logging, but in fact, he stopped recording since about 8:30 am PST, which is strange.

I don't have the exact errors mentioned in the original post (again) but I am faced with the question that some applications take very long. I Failed Request Tracing active and show applications for simple static files such as .css taking 10 + seconds.

It is an odd question. Sorry for the confusion.

  • ADF BC application pool datasource connection settings

    Hello

I have an ADF (ADF BC, with ADF Faces) web application. Currently I'm trying to set up the module and the data source connection for the application pool.

I would like to know if my tuning are correct. Is it normal connection of database pool values are enormous for the purposes of the ADF?

Looking forward to your suggestions and comments

    Thank you

    Here are the details

    No application Module = 34
No of simultaneous user = 50

    Retail config AM
    ---------------------

    Initial pool 10
    Maximum pool size 60
    Referenced pool 50 size
pooling of the activated application module

    For the database connection
    --------------------------------
    Initial capacity 34 * 50 = 1700
    Max 2500 capacity

    Initials

34 application root modules is about 32 or 33 too.

But, Yes, if you have the roots AM 34 and 50 concurrent users, then your pool should be at 1 700

However, in all seriousness, this is way too many roots AMs. If they are 1 root and 33 nested AMs, then it's OK, and you need only your pool to 50.

  • ColdFusion sites 2016 install IIS are already configured by some other version

I installed 10 ColdFusion on a Windows 2012 R2 server and indicated at the time of the installation on the server to manage all IIS sites.  It turns out that we decided we no longer to use version 10 and want to use the version 12 (2016).  I uninstalled 10 ColdFusion but now when I reinstall I try to select specify IIS for ColdFusion sites to manage instead of all the Sites and when I go to add the IIS Web server I get the following.  "All IIS sites are already configured by another version of ColdFusion.

I checked IIS and do not find the references to the ColdFusion files for the sites or the server itself.

It's been a while, but this has been resolved with the support of the CF.  We finally had to uninstall ColdFusion and MS IIS server.  I also make sure to remove/disable Service of Activation of Windows processes.  If it is not removed/disabled then IIS is not completely removed and configuration settings will remain when you go to reinstall.

After uninstallation of the two was full so I could reinstall IIS and ColdFusion with connectors works as expected.

  • Problem with db/server connection in a cluster on the WebLogic application server configuration

    Hi all,

Maybe someone here has already encountered this problem. I want to deploy and run my application on a cluster (with 2 servers) on WebLogic configuration. All data sources appear to be configured correctly, the application is deployed correctly and that it works correctly, except when a sql query is taken to a specific java class (DataGridService) that handles the results grid search.

    It displays the following error:

    MDatagrid: query: select * xxxxxx WHERE (xxxx) {'success': false, 'id': messageType '',' ': "ERROR", "messageFunction": "Sql Error", 'messageDescription' ': 'java.lang.ClassCastException: weblogic.jdbc.rmi.SerialConnection_weblogic_jdbc_rmi_internal_ConnectionImpl_weblogic_jdbc_wrapper_JTAConnection_weblogic_jdbc_wrapper_XAConnection_oracle_jdbc_driver_LogicalConnection_1211_WLStub cannot be cast to oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection',' iconMessage":"Ext.MessageBox.ERROR","buttonMessage":"Ext.MessageBox.OK","msgTitle":"System Error!"}

As I said, all sources of data in the console of wl appear to be correctly configured with the option "Not packaged data items of Type" not selected. All other connection db work correctly but there is a problem only with this particular class and with the cluster configuration, in fact it works correctly on a stitching configuration. In this case, the same problem occurs if 'Objects of Type data not packaged' is selected.

Maybe there is a problem with a certain configuration of wl. Can someone help us?

We have just solved the problem: in the properties file, wls.context parameter, we forgot to insert the ip for all servers in the cluster

for example, cluster with 2 servers

bad: wls.context=t3://ip-address:7001 (this is the only server admin)

    correct: wls.context=t3://ip address: 7001,ip address: 7002,ip address: 7003 (admin server, Server1 Server2)

  • Is it possible to remove the disposable disc to a pool configuration in VMware View?

I would like to remove the option of disposable disc several persistent pools in VMware View Horizon 5.3.1 (where virtual machines are already using disposable disks); However, there doesn't seem to be a way to do this in the options of the pool. Is it possible to remove the disk otherwise option or should I remove the old pool and create a completely new without this option enabled?

I used disposable disk option seems to be to save storage space, but I discovered that disposable disks have been updated only when displaying launched a turning off the virtual machines in the pool (which never happens). I thought that disposable records updated each time that a client shutdown/restarted the VM... but which is not the case. Given this information, I would like to stop using disposable disks as they really may not confer any advantage the way our persistent virtual machines are configured.

Thanks in advance for any help!

OK, you're right... only the drive letter customization is allowed.

Now to answer your question, the one and only formally is to remove the pool by archiving all disks persistent (user data disk), and then create a pool with the same name (but without SDS).

In addition, select all the archived UDD and then click on, "recreate". All new desktop computers will be recreated with the new spec,

Another way (not officially committed / not sure of its effects)

EAP-SVIVmPersistentDiskSpec entry will be there to ADAM OR = database server groups (VMware KB: connecting to the Database View ADAM)

This entry will be there for disposable system that has a parameter "DiskUsage is SystemDisposable".

Upron deleting the corresponding entry * may * end configuring don't not the SSD for the supply of others.
