RECURRING WINDOW UPDATE KB2839229

Looking for assistance in why KB2839229 update keeps recurring, whenever I log on this update appears on the sleep button, I downloaded this update 6 times until today, although when I go to Windows Update there was a large red cross of the emblem of Windows, my updates continue to pass as I'm running Norton.Really need help to either hide this update and get Widows Update upward and run again, any help would be greatly appreciated. A big thank you John Clift.

I heard that this update could cause an error when you start Windows XP and Win7. Many users you have this problem by updating it with Kingsoft Internet Security, they had a blue screen and users could not enter the boot system.

  • Windows Update does not work after the hard drive has been replaced

    Hello
I have the same problem, replaced in my Toshiba HD, rebuild from Sysimage, Windows Update does not work. A ran "fix the problem with the Microsoft Windows Update is not working.
    Problem still exist.
The message that I got while trying to update: "Windows Update cannot currently check updates,
because the service is not running. "You may need to restart you computer.
Stop and then restart the service, still no luck.

I ran Windows troubleshooting. He finds two problems with Windows Update components, it corrects.
    The problem still exists.

    Another interesting fact:
After the reconstruction the new disk, user account control does not recognize Windows programs.
for example: execution of Perfmon.exe, the Publisher is unknown! However, when I download the program Windows FixIt, Publisher is recognized as Microsoft Windows. It seems that user account control does not recognize the Windows programs that had found the new HD, but acknowledges those who is downloaded from the internet.
I guess there is a problem with the license, Windows was preinstalled on the Toshiba and replace the hard drive could have caused a few conflicts of licensing.

The same problem. Cloned old HD on a larger hard drive. Everything worked perfectly except NO indexing and update WITHOUT windows - the two recurring problems that seem to appear on the forums after a change of hard disk.

INDEXING resolved with change to "Intel rapid storage technology." Google what I put in quotes, choose the Download Center and get the specific to your OP and the controller software.

UPDATES have been a little more frustrating. The microsoft .fixes and convenience stores were without help.

Go to control panel / system and Maintenance / administration tools

    Select Services

Stop the Background Intelligent Transfer Service

    Stop Windows Update

In 'My Computer' go to Windows / Software Distribution

Right-click "DataStore" folder. Rename it to Datastore.old

    Rename the folder 'Download' Download.old

Return to Services and restart the Background Intelligent Transfer Service and Windows Update.

Look for the updates. It will take some time because you deleted the database.

    I hope this helps!

  • Windows Update stuck at "checking for updates... "(Windows 7)

No matter what I do, I can't get this thing to work.

Let me start by saying, what operating system (Windows 7 Professional 6.1.7601 "Service Pack 1, Build 7601") is something that I had through my college (Dreamspark). This copy is enabled and works well so far.

However, I tried to reinstall my Adobe applications, and he says that I can not install it because of a Windows update that I did not.

Of course, I go to Windows Update and let it run.

I let it run for hours, almost all night and day. It's just constantly "checking for updates... "scene and will never progress.

    I checked the newspaper and I get recurring errors with the prefix '0 x 8024... '. ».

I did research on the error codes that are matched with the prefix said, and Microsoft took me to the "Diagnostic tool for Windows Update". I have let it run, then select it to troubleshoot Windows Update issues.

It 'fixed' "questions," except one: "recent updates installation problems: don't not fixed."

    Large.

I tried to run Windows Update again for a few hours, but nothing helped. He is always looking for updates even while I'm typing this.

Can someone else offer suggestions? It's infuriating.

    Nope.

    1. to "Set Up Windows" select "Ask Me later".

  • Windows Update fails in Windows 8, Windows 8 running on VM VirtualBox

Original title: Windows Update failed in Windows 8

Windows 8 Pro is installed on it; no antivirus, no 3rd party service.  I got the download of Windows 8 students of the MS upgrade because the license I had was for XP OEM.  Their online store said I couldn't go directly to 8.1.  In order to get the cleanest system, that I could get, I reinstalled XP Pro from scratch.  The MS store forces installation of the upgrade of Windows 8 to help them ensure the Download Manager.  Yes, steps up to now:

    (1) install XP OEM

    (2) install all the XP updates

    (3) download and install the upgrade to win 8 using the secure download manager

    (4) apply Windows 8 updates so I can finally get to the 8.1

It may also be important to note that this facility is running in a VirtualBox VM.  I bought XP OEM disc when I got the laptop (Lenovo T520), but have always run Ubuntu Linux on the host computer.  So my reading on the Windows license is that I have no problem there.  The steps above take the largest part of a full day; so I'm a bit reluctant to reinstall again from scratch.

Finally, the Windows process update Gets an update to KB2785094 which fails.  I got a few different errors and passed through all stages troubleshooting recommended in the KB and this forum that I could find.  Errors include 80073712 and 8024afff.

    Troubleshooting steps tried:

    (1) run the file system, by http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957310 Checker

    (2) attempt to relaunch Windows Update

    (3) run DISM, by the same thing.

    (4) attempt to relaunch Windows Update

    (5) run the Windows Update troubleshooting tool, by http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/open-the-windows-update-troubleshooter

    (6) attempt to relaunch Windows Update

    (7) to run this Windows Update utility online by http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2714434/en-us

    (8) attempt to relaunch Windows Update

    9) restart in mode "clean boot", by http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135/en-us

It wasn't anything to turn off except the app tray Virtualbox Guest Additions, since it is essentially a new installation

    (10) attempt to relaunch Windows Update

    (11) see the same mistakes over and over again.  8024afff seems to have disappeared, but 80073712 keeps recurring.

A problem I noticed with the application of the DISM is that article that says: "If your Windows Update client is already broken, use a Windows installation running as the source of the repair, or use a file side-by-side Windows from a network share or removable media, such as the Windows DVD, such as source files. To do this, run the following command instead:

    "DISM.exe / Online/Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth/source: C:\RepairSource\Windows /LimitAccess.

Unfortunately, due to the screwy way, Microsoft provides the installation files during the upgrade as I did, I'm not aware of having any source of repair.  If anyone knows where the secure download manager puts installation files that could serve as a source for execution of DISM?  Other other ideas that made the exact same installation and expect a different result (one definition of insanity)?

    Thank you

  • Because Windows update (13/08/15) I can not install a toolbar on Firefox Robo

I have been using RoboForm for years without problem. However, last night, I ran the last Windows Update and this morning I had no Robo toolbar on my Firefox. I tried to uninstall and reinstall Robo and still no toolbar. I ran the restore windows at 08/08/15 and there was the fully functional toolbar. I went back to windows update and had the same problem again.

The toolbar may be hidden or the add-on is no longer compatible with Firefox. You right-click at the top near the address bar and to activate a specific toolbar. You can also check your list of Add-ons to see if it is listed as incompatible. Please note that you do not use beta, not everything may work correctly.

    Hello

This morning my windows vista made some updates. Subsequently the Firefix text is exampe is bad, sometimes unreadable, attached. The text is not bad in IE, but change the return isn't desireble. Text was OK before the reboot of Windows Update. Disable ClearType exacerbates the problem. Regards Lars Jensen

an option may be to tackle this particular update for now until there is a fix from microsoft or you could also look at if there is a graphics driver update available on the Web site of the seller (intel/amd/nvidia) which could also be solved this problem in some cases.

  • How to run Windows update for Win XP SP3 using Firefox

My desktop PC computer running windows XP with SP3. My spouse uses IE 8 for its browser. I use Firefox Version 24. for my browser. Previously, whenever we ran MS or Windows update it starts IE and works very well. IE 8 blew up and does more (execution errors). I tried to go to the site to update Windows using Firefox and he came back and told me that I had to use IE to launch Win update on an XP system. Is this true? I don't want to use IE at all. Is it possible to use Firefox to run Windows or MS update on my Win XP system? Thank you.

You cannot run windows update using Firefox because it uses controls ActiveX Firefox is not (and will never). Yes, then unfortunately use IE for Windows update.
