Reduce the storage occupied by photos in Lightroom

My question is for Lightroom Mobile of iOS. I wonder if there is a way to reduce the mobile storage occupied by photos in Lightroom.

To reduce storage in LrM needs:

  • Do not set the edition offline in collections
  • Do not enable the preference download at full resolution
  • Reduce the number of collections that are synchronized to LrM, or less photos, videos
  • Disable auto add options for photos and videos and manually import

  • How to reduce the storage of photos on MacBook Pro

    My photos were 87 GB of space on my MacBook Pro. I tried to reduce the space used by deleting about 1000 photos, removed about 25 projects (books, cards, etc.) and 100 to 120 videos.

    I deleted all the and emptied the Recycle Bin. After this cleaning, I still 87 GB of space used by my photos. What is the problem?  How can I reduce the space used by the pictures?

    I deleted all the and emptied the Recycle Bin.

    Hear you emptied the album "recently deleted", because the Photos for Mac is not a trash can?

    Your photo library has been migrated from iPhoto or Aperture, and do you still have your original iPhoto or Aperture library on your Mac?  Then the storage for deleted photos only comes out, after you remove the same photos in the iPhoto library or the Aperture library as well.  When the photo is migration a library it saves space by linking to the photos in the Aperture library or iPhoto library. Photos photos and your original library share the same storage on your request of hard links. There are references to files in the system, and so that the file is used by a library storage is not released. See: Photos saves disk space to share images with your iPhoto or Aperture - Apple Support libraries

    If you still want to keep the original libraries, consider to move them to an external disk and remove them from your system disk.

  • How to reduce the size of a photo of 6 MB to 800ko?

    I would like to be able to reduce the size of a photo in Photo Mac or Photoscape 6 MB to 800 KB. Before I could do this in Picasa when I exported photo.

    If change you a file standard .jpg you can reduce 'quality' option to reduce his smaller size. You can use the shareware, GraphicConverter for this application. You may also be able to do in the Photos when you export the image. Overview, may be able too, but I have not used for this purpose.

  • How to stop reducing the size to straighten photos?

    Opening has been really great for the recovery of the photos. I understand how to do this in pictures, but my problem is it strongly seems to reduce the size of the photo. Opening did not do that; It simply reduced all that has been cropped in smoothing. However, Photo reduces the overall size of the picture when recording far beyond what has been slightly cropped.

    Is there a way to avoid this?
    To give.

    Thanks for any help you might be able

    Straightening (obviously) to crop the image - change the in = size of mage - beyond that, there is no loss, as all changes to Photos - why do you think that the image goes beyond the necessary culture?

  • I need to reduce the resolution of a photo

    I have a picture that is appx 5 MB in size - is intended to insert in a report of the file size should be reduced to the size (.3 MB or 720 X 480) VGA is possible in Lightroom?  If so, how?

    When you export the picture, check the box "Resize to fit" in the drop-down list, select the longest side and set the size to 720 pixels.

    Furthermore, 720 x 480 is not 0.3 MB (approx.); It is (approximately) of 0.3 megapixels and a variable number of megabytes.

  • SD cards can be used for the storage of permanent photos?

    I have used an external hard drive to store my photos but am wary of impending failure and so would convert on an SSD. Question: something wrong with the help of SD memory cards. 128 GB are awfully cheap these days.

    Hi Ken,

    Personally, I see nothing wrong with the permanent use of cards for storage of photos, as long as they are well labeled.

    Same technology as a SSD hard drive.

    It is out of the ordinary, but I guess you are too or you wouldn't ask the question.

    My advice? -you knock out (so to speak)...

    No need to review smart on the road if you can carry your originals in your shirt pocket.

    My only reservation would be of about fill them -I have 3 TB hard drives, which have plenty of room for all of them, a 128 GB card would not wait.

    Here's an idea (if you do not run the risk of overflow):

    * Keep all photo collection (original source files) on a drive hard simple rotation (and large).

    * Keep the catalogue, the presets,... and smart insights on SD card (regular previews too if they will fit, if not reinstall them).

    Then when you travel, you just pop the card and take it with you, plug back when you return - no need to copy the files anywhere or import/export of catalog. Of course, you could do the same thing with an esata USB key...

    If ever I get back from travel, I can consider this arrangement myself - thanks for putting in place.

    PS - you have backups, so if your card lasts 2 years, instead of 10, you can always throw it in the trash and fill a new backup card. I mean, same year as if photos on spinning drive...

  • How can I reduce the size on my photos so that I can load them onto Auctiva? Hainesblum

    I bought a new camara and the size of the image is too large to download on Auctiva. How can I change the dimensions?

    I'm guessing that you are running Windows XP?

    The following free PowerToy for Windows XP
    can resize batches of photos very quickly:

    Click on the following link and the left click of the
    PowerToys tab...

    Windows XP downloads
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/downloads/Windows-XP

    Download and install: ImageResizer.exe
    (Filename: ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe)
    (does not work on Vista)

    Then, you can open any folder containing
    images and you will have an option to resize.
    Just right click the selected image files and
    Choose resize images in the menu. You
    can select a picture or an entire group.

    The program will place the resized in copies
    the folder with your originals.
    (Tip: * never * overwrite your originals)

    To ensure that images in both portrait and
    landscape orientation are resized to the
    same dimensions... go to... Advanced...
    and enter the largest number in these two areas.
    IOW... for 600 x 800... Enter 800 in these two areas.

  • ImageIO reduced the size of my photo file?

    Hello

    I used the code below in an attempt to write an image file in the DB
    BufferedImage originalImage = ImageIO.read (new File("c:\\test.jpg"));)
    ByteArrayOutputStream Baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
    ImageIO.write (originalImage, "jpg", baos);
    Baos.Flush ();
    Byte [] fileBytes = baos.toByteArray ();

    Save fileBytes DB if the column accepts the value of type BLOB.

    I used the code below in an attempt to read from the database and write to the file system.
    Bais ByteArrayInputStream = getFileBytesFromDB();
    The BufferedImage = ImageIO.read (bais);
    ImageIO.write (consulterles, "jpg", new File("c:\\test1.jpg"));)

    I noticed that the resulting file size has been reduced by almost half after writing to the file system. Anyone know why?
    :)

    As he says, do not use ImageIO. It's re-encoding JPEG format which is morphing your data. Just copy it in the form of bytes using input and output streams. Much faster, too.

  • How can I reduce the resolution of a photo I have integrate it?

    I have some pictures full-resolution images related to a (CS4) Illustrator file. They are part of a conception of flyers for my photography business.

    My problem is, because they are full resolution narrowed down to just an inch or two of the photos overall, they are very high dpi... much higher than necessary they are, I just need them to be 300 dpi.

    I send the Illustrator file to internet printing service to have my printed prospectus. This means I have to integrate the images as the upload must be a single file, there is also a size limit of 8 MB, so to get the full resolution photos on there will be no do, as the file size is greater than 40 MB.

    What I need is the way to lower the resolution, an embedded image, or to select the resolution it will be incorporated in front I integrate it.

    The only way that I can think is to load each picture in Photoshop, calculate the pixel dimensions to be 300 DPI in my flyer design, narrow it down to these dimensions, save each one in a new file, recreate a link to my photos in Illustrator for new files, stir and then delete the new files. But this seems extremely laborious, and I can't help thinking there must be a quicker way than what looks like a very common problem.

    Checking the option of transparency should help.

    I would rather turn their backs, then the pixelation, then turn. This way, you will get cleaner edges.

  • OF the STORAGE on iPhone 6

    How can I remove photos from my phone without deleting the photos from my computer, once they have been synced?

    After that I have synced my photos from my phone to the computer via iCloud, can I then disable iCloud for my phone and delete the photos on the phone - keeping the copies that have been previously synced on my laptop?

    With iCloud library enabled, you cannot delete a photo on a device (or iCloud.com) without deleting each device which uses iCloud photo library (iCloud.com). In order to save space on your mobile devices (and indeed your Mac if you want to) turn on the optimization of the pictures on these devices (settings > photos & camera > optimize storage on your mobile device and Photo preferences > optimize storage on your Mac)

    Dynamic optimization, it reduces the resolution of your photos, if necessary, so that you don't notice it occurring initially. However, when necessary, it is very effective, and users have reported libraries being optimized for much less than 10% of their original size in some cases. My own library is about 9% of its original on my phone size.

    In most cases, optimize your photos should be enough to raise the space related issues on your device. However, if you have an exceptionally large library you may need to disable iCloud photo library on your mobile device and use instead the photo stream. You can then use a computer to manage the photo stream photos and have them automatically imported into you iCloud photo library.

  • Photos deleted from the iPhone also remove Photos on Mac

    I gave my granddaughter a new MacBook for Christmas (she had a PC before). She has figured out how to get all the photos of his iPhone in the library of images on his Mac (sorry, not sure what it's called). But now, if it removes a picture on his phone, it is removed from the library on the Mac (she likes to keep the storage space vacated on the phone but obviously wants to save the photos on the Mac). I'm trying to help solve this problem. Help?

    She must have enabled library Icloud, which actually moves all his images in the cloud of apple and makes it accessible to all devices. When you use the items in a 'cloud', they are only on the device, so deleting a picture of any device removes the cloud and, therefore, of all devices.

    It's the way it was designed.

    When you configure the library to icloud, you have an option to OPTIMIZE IPHONE STORAGE and this drastically reduces the storage space on the iphone in my case, 17 GB of photos in the photo library of clouds currently absorb only 1.8 GB on iphone when optimized in this way.

    Hello out there! I am trying to understand the relationship between the products. I am a current user of 13 items and sought to CC Photoshop with Lightroom. Always use elements like the storage tool to catalog my photos or it get replaced?

    It's kind of ridiculous. All I want to do is ask a question and there is no place to connect with anyone. Sucks!

    Hi charlesf,

    If you choose to go to CC Photoshop with Lightroom, Photoshop Elements would not be replaced.

    CC of Photoshop and Photoshop Elements are different programs, so the two will remain separate on your machine and catalogue items would not hit at all.

    Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Kind regards
