• How can I add or change the network I had for the TouchPad?

  Most of the devices on a network have names for the device for one reason or another. This allows to distinguish between connected devices and the legitimacy of it.

  So far, I was unable to add a network ID to this TouchPad.

  With the Amazon Kindle fire had seen the network ID as 'My Phone' that I really want to change, and fast. Haven't managed to change with an Android app called Fing, which enabled me to use an unorthodox network identification name.

  I would like to find another network utility which can do the same for the HP TouchPad. Any ideas about a utility or more manual method? FING via Kindle fire shows no network for my TouchPad ID.

  Hello Xelkos,

  What you're talking about is actually a function of DHCP. If you request an IP address, a client can send a hostname on the server so that it can be easily identified in a readable way.

  By default, this is disabled on the TouchPad. To enable it, you'll need to edit a text file on the device. There are many different ways to do this, so pick your favorite and follow these insturctions.

  1. Find /etc/dhclient.conf and open
  2. Find the line that begins with:

     # send-hostname
     

  3. Delete the "#" sign in the front of the line and change the text inside the quotation marks. This text should be what you want as your host name to be:

     send-hostname "TouchPad"
     

  4. Once you have finished, save and close the file
  5. Turn Wi - Fi off and then turn it back on. You should now see your name appear on your Access Point / router.

  NOTE: Do not forget that in order to make these changes permanent, you must set the file read-write system:

  mount -o remount,rw /
  

  You must also set this back to read-only when you are finished:

  mount -o remount,ro /
  

• Win LR 6.4 import/Add - cannot change the destination of the catalogue

  Using LR 6.4 and has several hard drives installed on my desktop computer.  LR (.lrcat) catalogs are on the G drive - and have always been on the G drive.  LR and Photoshop are also installed on drive G.  My photos are in the folders on the F drive.  My two catalogues are given due recognition in the preferences as being on drive G.

  When I use the import - Add command, LR allows me to choose the source, but immediately chooses the destination as "My catalog" C drive.  Although there is a small box next to the C drive, it is unusable and I can't find a way to change the destination.  If I use other commands such as copy, I am able to change the destination.  But whenever I load photos from a disc, I have for them to make a folder on the F drive and copy them from the disk to the new folder.  Then, I want to add these pictures to the catalog that is currently active.  I want to add them without moving... l

  I did a search for .lrcat and all the catalogs were on drive G, as they are supposed to be.  However, there is an entry on the C drive that is marked as a MS Word file and it is called: Lightroom assessment.docx.  A paragraph seemed more likely guilty, but I don't know if I should change it and if so, what to change:

  No matter that one of your hard drives, the catalog is on. If this catalog is one that is active, then it is one which will contain references to imported pictures. When you use the add in the import dialog box images are added to the catalogue of their current location. You cannot specify a different destination when you use this option. When you use the copy option, then you are able to specify a destination in the right column of the import dialog box. You must choose the appropriate drive and the main folder in the folder tree that appears. Then, specify the name of the subfolder in the highlighted area:

  

  You talked about change the destination of the catalog. It was a poor choice of words or you don't understand how the catalog works. The catalogue is available in one place. Normally it does not move anywhere unless you choose to do it manually. You can control the destination of your imported images, and Lightroom will import to the destination on any hard drive. But they are managed using the catalogue that remains in one place.

  I have a few virtual machines and they were imported directly from the physical to virtual. Now they have the same number of CPUs and Physics (4 cpu), is to limit my ability to put HA clustered virtual machines. could I just changed the cpu and the CPU to 1 total change? It is recommended or any negative impact? and in the case where I experience any performance issue would add more cpu, the problems that I could wait here?

  I am fairly new to this community and may also not yet that familiar with RoboHelp 9, I used recently. I have notices that there is the possibility of changing the status of subject for example on loan for the examination etc. in RoboHelp.

  We work in a small team of 3, often on the same project using RoboSource. I would use the status of subject in order to follow if the author or the translator has completed all its work to ensure that follow-up author is aware that he can basically start with its tasks. I know there is the to do list, but I did not find as tools of reporting practices on the status of subject.

  My question is now, is there an option to increase the status of additional subject or any chance to add the to-do List example to the pod list items as column title? Perhaps there is a more practical way to achieve the same result.

• best way to add and change the menu all programs without turning off UAC?

  I just download HJsplit, as someone has sent me a video file into segments to overcome the limitations of attachment size. HJsplit doesn't require installation, but UAC is actually prevents me from adding it to the start menu.

  What would be the 'proper' normal procedure to add it to the menu all programs on the start menu, preferably in an existing folder, called "utility" without having to go through two reboots to turn UAC on or off?

  If there was a previous version of Windows 95 and XP, I would have included the word "shortcut" in the paragraph above.

  Essentially the same as option B in my two ways, but without the use of the command prompt to start the Explorer. I must have accidentally deleted the icon from the Windows Explorer of my account administer as I find it, but it appears in my standard account and backup my admin account.  Thank you, he let discover me the missing icon, and I fixed it.

  Please check the updates in the Help menu of Acrobat to run the latest patch, which is 11.0.11

  Also, try to repair Acrobat and try again.

  You could still set link properties as you want and then select the locked option to prevent changes to your settings.

• Can you add or change the FLV skins in Captivate 7.01.237?

  I went in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 7 x64\Gallery\FLVSkins and found the skin .swfs. I tried a simple edition (reset colors) using Flash, rename and re - insert the file in the folder, and then restarted my computer and reopened the Captivate. Unlike .swf skins, that I was able to create and insert in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate x64\Gallery\PlayBars 7, new skin does not show up on top of the drop-down list for the choice of skin video event.

  What I'm doing wrong here?

  What .fla edit you? As far as I know it is not all the source files for the flv skins.

• Cannot change the Google search criteria in Safari

  I have a MB Pro OS X El Capitan 10.11.12 running version 2015.  My default search engine is Google.  After the recent update, whenever I'm looking for something in the Apple search bar in Safari, it will bring me to the page of Google results as usual, but if I want to change the search criteria in the search bar (not the Apple search bar), it won't let me.  It won't delete, add, or change the search criteria in the Google search bar in the Web page.

  I tried Yahoo and Bing and both work very well.  I also tried Google on Firefox and it works fine too, there must be something with Safari.

  Any suggestions?  Does anyone else have this problem?

  Ugh! I just figured this out, the simplest thing too.

  There is a dialog box on the google page saying something like "Download Google Chrome" and you can click on the x to close that.  Once you do this, the search bar can be changed again.

• How to programmatically change the environment variables

  I use Visual Source Safe commands in the context menu of Windows Explorer, and I often have to change VSS to the other database. I uses .reg files to change the value of the variable SSDIR. The registry editor displays the new value immediately after the call to the .reg file. However, the system does not seem to actually recognize the change, unless I open my computer properties to Environment Variables, and then click OK.

  How can I make an immediate change to a variable user permanently without enter in the properties of my computer?

  As says the issue I can change the name, but not the fields email and password in the first box pop up that appears when you add an existing e-mail account. Seems to be a bug in the pop-up edition regardless of the new account is.

  Glad you stuck with this issue cuz I pulled a real boner trying to fix. I was totally distraught on the main menu of * two * UNDO and REDO. If you remember that I tried to install the menu shortcut for UNDO them and REDO and totally rejected the idea that they might be under Edit on the crazy Main Menu which of course, they have been and worked like a charm.
