Remove the white background around picture in Illustrator

I used the custom shape in Photoshop tool to make a paw print and made in Illustrator and used the trace tool to vectorize it (because the image will be used in an Illustrator file). Now I can't understand how to remove the white background around itself. I have a gradient behind the image and must have the white box removed latter. I'm sure that the method is probably pretty simple, but I'm rather new on Illustrator so would be very happy for all the advice! Thank you!!

Sounds a rather twisted workflow. Create the leg like a a path in Photoshop, select with the path tool, copy & paste it in Illustrator. Works much better and avoids all the pitfalls. For your problem of trace: be sure to choose ignore white.

It's probably the print margin. Printers will not print to the edge on standard printer. The only way that you can print to the edge is implemented with the brand culture and then cut your works of art.

  • How to remove the white outline around cursor?

Is there a way to remove the white outline around the black slider? For example, the reticle on the selection tool is black, but they have a white outline around the central point and 4 lines. How can I remove this outline in white? The outline makes it much more difficult to be precise with the cursor. (I use Photoshop CS6 on Windows 7).

I don't know other settings for the sliders as those in the preferences.

If I'm working on a bright image, I hardly notice the bright outline.  I use the browser to zoom in before, so for me, the selection is very precise.  And of course, I almost keep everything in separate layers.

  • Remove the white background problems

I have an image that someone else created. I'm trying to fix. I enclose a photo. On the left, you will notice that it is a white box around it. I don't want that. But when I delete the box, it also removes some of the details of the black pen. How can I stop doing that? I tried to expand the picture. There is no clipping mask. Any ideas? Thank you.Example.jpg

Click again on the white feather and click on delete.

White is more liekly a compound path, built a road outside (the box) and an inner path (the form of the feather). When you remove the box you end up with white feather shape and it covers black shapes.

A better method of removing the white can be select, and then choose the command selection > same > background & contour in the menu and then hit the delete key.

  • remove the white background

I am trying to create a wedding invitation and I have the graphics I want, but I want to add some Victorian scrolls, which are almost black on white background.  I was not able to find a way to get rid of the white background while I saw the black rollers.  I spent a few days (it's hours over several weeks) trying to understand this through research and have failed miserably.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks - Mike

Looks like you want to make the background transparent. If so, follow these steps:

    1. If the scrolling in the Palette thumbnail layers is named 'Background' (the default value for jpg), rename it. Just a double click on the layer and accept the name of neww DEFAULT "Layer 0".

    2. activate the magic wand with the contiguous option unchecked.

    3. click anywhere in the blank for select all and . White is now transparent, indicated by the checkerboard:

Note that this also works if the background is uniformly white broken or even a different color.

Save this as a file type that supports transparency, such as PSD, PNG, TIFF.

For purposes of demonstration, I added a layer of color under the scrolling layer:

    R_Kelly wrote:

This can happen with a photo that has been sharper.

I also found that the effect of the new "shake removal" is inclined to create similar artifacts.

Sharpening works around the edges to change the brightness of the darker and lighter side on the edge. Closer to the edge, the lighter side becomes even lighter, darker becomes darker. The limit on the Board now has a lot more visual contrast.

One way to thwart the "oversharpening" is to use a reverse action (blur).

The effect that can produce a similar action on the edges in the opposite direction, is the "Gaussian" filter blur. The same idea is also used with the method "high pass sharpening layer.

The problem with the "fuzzy" is that it removes the sharpening anywhere, and not only where the white objects are a problem.

The first idea is to use masks to limit the effect around the areas at issue.

The other idea is to use a "fuzzy" selective running only on the clear part of the edge.

To try this, select a test with details of file image and sharpen strongly to the visible white fringes.

    -duplicate your background.

-Apply the filter ' other > high pass with a radius of 1 to 3 and choose a like a soft light blending mode. (even more sharpening)

-reverse this layer: blur effect as with Gaussian blur.

-Stamp visible (create a new layer with the resulting effect)

-remove or hide the high pass layer

-set the new layer to "compete."

The result is that you always keep the original on the dark side of the edges, while sharpening effect by masking the effect on the lighter side.

Of course, using masks to apply the effect on the areas with problems is also to be considered.

How to remove a registered logo transparent white background?

If your logo is a raster (pixel) image in the .ai file, when you select, it will say 'image' upward earlier in the Options bar. The image path is used to convert raster (pixel-based) images into vector graphics. You can tweak it to control the results you get. Don't forget to click on the button of development as the last step to turn it into a vector image. There are many fine free tutorials on the web that shows how to use for best results. • I can't change a PNG of a watermark file, because I don't have the little wand on my tools screen to select the white background to delete?

If someone has had the problem of trying to convert a PNG image to a watermark and when I do the tutorial on youtube I don't even have the little wand they say select you on the left side of your screen so that you can remove the white background. I'm stuck.

This is probably due to the icon tools being hidden by default. Both the wand and the quick selection tool share the same space. Place your cursor on the icon of the tool Quick Selection press the button of the mouse and hold the button for about 2 seconds and a passage outwards menu will appear. (this can be done with any tools that have a small triangle in the lower right corner)

When I removed the white background, is now replaced with black background, why is it!

This means that your layer was still called 'Background', he will not support transparency unless you rename.

Probably your background color in the Toolbox was too black.

I was looking for a way to remove the white square background that surrounds our company logo series so that when I place it in an inDesign doc, it's just around and wrong inside a white square.  Can someone explain please how to do this?  I tried everything I can think of.

Ok. Thanks for the display of the logo. We want to keep the white in the circle.

    1. Open file logo
    2. Duplicate the background layer and close the visibility of the background layer by clicking on the "eye" icon. Work on the background copy layer
    3. Tool access wand, contiguous tick, the tolerance value = 30, hit DELETE on the keyboard
