  I watched a couple videos on You Tube, but the Pavilion DV7 show is not the same as mine.

  I know that there are many varieties of entertainment DV7 laptops.  One of the videos shows the cover that surrounds the keyboard as rupture near the top corners left and right of the keyboard. Mine is solid from before backward, and has a border of lighted (illuminated) around the touchpad.

  My question: How can I ensure that the keyboard that I buy is good?

  There are a lot of keyboards for sale on ebay and amazon and the prices range from $ 17 to $ 51 +.

  You have misunderstood me. I buy one on Amazon. My only fear is that even if they say that they provide one of their warehouses, other buyers have to wait 50 days or more.

  I've been waiting a ridiculous amount of time before, but it was through ebay, even if the seller claims a U.S. address.

  Here's one from e - bay for a ticket, an American that there 6 brackets on top of the keyboard, it's okay. The later will have only four tabs and does not, however when you open you machine, you must confirm this to be sure before you order.

  HP computer parts have numbers if you do not have to buy a replacement from HP store part. Just find the right part number and buy it on ebay, amazon, etc. Of course, you can buy it in a store of HP (in line), but be prepared for a more expensive price...

The user has an external keyboard and mouse they use, but in the case where they want the keyboard of the laptop replaced so the unit can be portable, I ask for information on prices and where to buy.   The smartest thing is to remove the old Panel before you buy a new. The part number of the manufacturer (Samsung, LG, etc) screen down from the back of the Panel and make sure that you understand how it connects and then store the Panel-based and not by part number of the manufacturer of the laptop. You will have a wider choice of products and you'll be sure of the compatibility and maybe even save a buck or two. Panels of the screen are a part of the product and the same panels will be used in many models of laptop by several manufacturers. If you really understand what you're doing you can use any display of the same type of resolution and the connection, but you must make sure that all the plugs are the same.

  Section 5-11 gives information on how to remove the keyboard.

  I don't remember seeing a laptop dv5 which did not have a keyboard that could be removed in one piece.

  I recommend that you look in the series specifications Guide Service and maintenance for the dv5 . See pages 63 to 66.

  You could install a keyboard with other (countries) location for the same model, but you can't use keyboard to other series with different reference numbers.

  US keyboard:

  516356-001 white moulded keyboard for use in the United States

  These are expensive outside the United States for a stupid reason. HP itself is out of stock. I found one for like $27 from a US seller on eBay. Do you have someone ready to ship to the United States?
