Report criteria

Hi all

If I have 2 made tables f1, f2. D1, d2 are confirmed dimensions and d4 is joined at f2.

If the report is built, based on the f1, f2, d4 and then how to build the report? Can you get it someone please let me know about this?

Thanks to the Adv.

  • Is it possible to use the default value as sql expression in obiee 11g report?

    Hi all

Is it possible to use the default value as sql expression in obiee 11g report?. Actually what I'm trying to make is that we send an ibot users. They want the same default values that are assigned in the command prompt in the report. So when we send the ibot it shows the report for default values assigned in the report criteria which is obsolute. As a solution, I kept the report in a dashboard page and send the dashboard like ibot page. But the problem here is that I can send only pdf format. Is it possible to do so at the level of the report (without using session variables). I want something like that

    Date between Date ' @{PV1} {Timestampadd (SQL_TSI_DAY,-90, CURRENT_DATE)} and Date ' @{PV2} {CURRENT_DATE}

  • Report and schedule prompt

    Hello experts!

    I have a problem with a report,

I have a calendar command prompt and my client can select members such as: "08/05/2010, etc...".

Now, I have a graphics state and X AXIS every month of the year. I want to show which belongs to invite all the months chosen. In my case... my report must show all data for the month of 2010.

In my report, I can invite you with 'Date' because only show a value (08/05/2010). I try prompted a SQL Expression as YEAR (@v_date) but does not work...

P.D. Calendar prompt has a T_DATE how variable presentation.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!!!

    Shud be simple Alex.

I suppose you have reached up to extract the year from Quick Date and then showing the 12 months of the year as well as in your report.
Now simply pull the column measure again in your report criteria and replace fx ABSTRACT (Measure). This will give you the CDA measure that is equivalent to the result of your second image. Do not use measurement to DATE that you created in the RPD.

    Hope this helps

  • View the criteria in responses

    Hello

I have an obligation to show the link to a report in the dashboard page, and when the link is clicked, it should show the report criteria page so that users can modify the report. Currently, when I do it shows me the results, if I use a filter that is not that it displays the error message. How can I view the criteria in responses without displaying the results.

    Help, please. Thank you.

    Try this:

    (1) go to the criteria of demand response mode.

    (2) copy the URL in the address bar.

    3) go to the dashboard page and add an item "link or Image.

    (4) paste the URL there.

When the user clicks on the link, it opens in standards mode, assuming that the user has access to answers.

(Don't forget to mark 'useful' or 'correct' for this post, and then close the thread. (Thank you.)

  • Adding validation to page during page layout

    Hello

I have a report page that is divided into two sections. The top section contains the parameters in the form of Page elements that the user can enter, then click on a "Submit" button to submit a report. Once they click the submit button, the results appear in the interactive report section below.

The interactive report query is based on the point of page settings and I configure SQL so that during initial entry to the page, when the page elements are all zero, the query is not return all possible results. The Send button contains an action of "submit Page".

My question is, I want to apply validation to the page now to control things like the fields required and some slightly more advanced example at least one of four specified fields must be met etc. I don't know how to put the validation in place to achieve this goal, and what I've found so far is that even if I put the item page of 'Value' property to check for a NULL value, once you click on the button send that the error at the top of the page, but the report always returns results based on other parameters that can be filled. I can understand why he did this because we are going to submit the page and we have some of the elements which depends the full page report query. I want to make all the validation when the user clicks on submit, however, if one of them fails, then I wouldn't have to send the page i.e. return all the results of the query.

Could you please indicate the best way to reach my goal and how do I put the validation? I need to keep the design the same, i.e. the user enters parameters at the top, and then clicks on a Submit button to reveal the results down.

    Thank you

This type of validation can be simply implemented with the help of a type Page-level PL/SQL Expression Validation using the coalesce function:

    coalesce(:p1, :p2, :p3, :p4) is not null

where :p1 , :p2 , etc., are the search criteria the items page.

what I've found so far, is that even if I put the item page of 'Value' property to check for a NULL value, once you click on the button send that the error at the top of the page, but the report always returns results based on other parameters that can be filled. The page must be submitted in order to trigger validation, which is the best way to handle this.

APEX includes both integrated conditions reflecting the State of the page validation: Inline Validation errors displayed and No. Inline Validation errors displayed. You can use these conditionally perform one of the two before the process header to switch a page flag point PX_VALIDATION_FAILED (set property Condition Never so it is not rendered on the page) of the item between 1 and 0 respectively.

Rather than include the conditions of report rendering in the SQL report, I would recommend making the report interactive whole region conditional on the existence of criteria and the lack of validation errors. Move the report criteria NOT predicates NULL of the report source SQL to a condition Expression PL/SQL area and add an another predicate to the condition that verifies that the validation flag value is 0.

  • CSV download problem

    Hello

User reported that there was a problem with the CSV file after download of the dashboard of the OBI. Report has about 15 columns and I created the view tables with about 12 columns and order of the columns in a table view is different from the order of the columns in the criteria. user has downloaded the report to CSV format and this is to download the report with the order of the columns in the criteria tab rather than order of the columns in a table view. I never had this problem before. If one of you met and fixed it, please let me know.

    Thank you

    Hi Jay,.

Export CSV or text delimited by OBI11g is the report criteria. Export to Excel/PDF comes from the view. It is a standard behavior of 11g. If the columns are not used for other purposes in the criteria, you can remove columns.

Let me know if this helped.

  • Embedded SQL. vs embedded PL/SQL in the ProC

    Hi all

Start looking at the code embedded SQL, for the first time for many years. My question is: what (if any) are the benefits of the incorporation of PL/SQL in Pro * C (11g), rather than incorporate SQL? The code I inherited uses embedded SQL, but I thought it was a performance improvement using embedded PL/SQL.

Are there specific reasons / examples when 1 is better than the other? Can you not always replace embedded SQL with embedded PL/SQL in Pro * C?

    Thanks in advance!

    -bw

SQL and PL/SQL are not languages integrated (in C/C++ using Pro * C).

An embedded is a language that is inside the application, that allows to modify and control the behavior of the application. JavaScript is a good example. It lies within the Web browser application. It can be used to improve the interaction between the application with the user (e.g., creating a rich interface), and how the application interacts with the web server (e.g. Ajax).

The best language to use to talk to the database, depends on the nature of the database and the application. A written report request obviously need to use the language of SQL Server directly - as it will build dynamically SQL queries in order to meet the reporting criteria provided by the user (for example, the Business Objects application).

For a type OLTP database and application, PL/SQL Server language is better - as the management interface full (create an invoice, invoice a customer, order a product, etc.) can be and should be build using the PL/SQL language. The application uses this interface, exactly the same way that it would use other interfaces (e.g. the GDI for rendering, the printing interface for printing invoices, MS Office COM interface for the creation of a letter to the customer, etc.).

PL/SQL interface insulates the application from the database model. The application has no need to use SQL statements. The application doesn't have to worry about SQL and database performance. The interface of PL/SQL layer treats all of this. Changes and updates and changes to databases, can be totally transparent, because PL/SQL interface hide these changes to the application.

This approach makes it easier for developers write application (didn't need to know SQL or PL/SQL, or have a solid understanding of the basics of Oracle). And as the business logic resides in PL/SQL, another business application will use the exact same interface and the business logic. So there a consistent interface to the database in all database applications using this database.

As the design and drafting of the custom report applications are relatively rare, most Pro * C applications should make PL/SQL calls and should not use language SQL Server directly. PL/SQL will be used to create SQL cursors then move the handles of these Pro slider * C code. This code will then seek and consume the output SQL cursor (without needing SQL statements).

    answer as soon as possible.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi RR,.

GoTo tab on your report criteria.

Select the step of selection icon (down arrow left green color).

And then under selection steps, change your hierarchy column (start with column name).

In the new window select the level higher in the hierarchy and check in the editable with the command prompt box.

    Try it will work.

  • How to use the Substring function with Case statement.

    Hi all

I have a requirement where I have to use the substring function on the ground for the report criteria.
    FOR EXAMPLE
I branch domain name where I have all the information of the branch names, now some of the branch names are too large with an extension after the name.
now I want substing it, but the length of characters varies for each branch.
so is it possible where we use a box where we can define if the character of name plug exceed a value then he substing with this length.

    Try something like this:

LENGTH WHEN CARTER (tablename. Branch_Name) > n THEN SUBSTRING (...) Of ANOTHER tablename. Branch_Name END

where n is the number of characters that you want to start the break.

  • Confused about source logical table

    Hello

I'm confused about logical table source (LTS), there is 'General', 'Column mapping', 'Content' tabs in
LTS, tab in general, there is some information, as the "tables map it" and "attached,"

right here, we have created relationships in the physical layer and layer MDB, then I would ask what is the use of the "joins" here?

Yes, but you can use between logical and logical Dim in MDB. What happens if you must define between tables that is not exposed to the MDB and you want to use non-exposed tables of MDB? Or when you go for the design of a snowflake in MDB? or a very good example is when you want a table always appear in physics SQL even when its corresponding collar is not used in the report criteria... Here are some scenarios above.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you

    Hi sliderules,.

I would like to have the ability to ignore certain parameters, as shown above, how is this possible?

You can't ignore the filter conditions once you have set up, if you want to ignore those specific, you must remove them and run with other remaining filters.

Why you want to skip them can you explain what you're trying to achieve?

    UPDATE POST

First of all don't be confused with prompts and filters... here the filters are applied for example where of the SQL clause conditions... where as guest is effective for the whole of the report that is global.
In your question, confuse you me... which sentence on filters... Now saying your user name should enter 3 guests and leave aside to invite others... so it is connected to the dashboard of the guests

come to the dashboard command prompt to jump... Enter guest of dashboard which must be registered and say end-user that the first 3 guests are binding leaves the rest... but see the first 3 guests are defined is requested in the filter criteria (for example:-accounts is invited)

  • How to remove pages page layout? (except Master Page)

    Geetings Experts:

I put additional security measures in my "initialze" event, where I'll check a few global variables and make the file unreadable if necessary.

Object and property access to remove all my pages of the form?

I want to create a function that deletes all of the pages of void, leavning Matster Page, to select a label in the MasterPage and save himself.

I searched Page [n] .remove () and xfa.layout methods but can't find any reference to these.

.its presence = "hidden", responds to my goal, but the visible pages and I need a solution clean no pages are visible.

    Hello

I think you're on the right track.

You set up a master page with the appearance of the paging set to a maximum of 1. Here you can set our security reviews. Then set up a second master page as your main template.

In design mode, the first page (page1) with be based on Master Page 1 safety. Assign this hidden presence in the object tab.

Initialization if the reporting criteria would include

Page1.presence = "visible"; view the safety notice

Page2.presence = 'hidden '; Hide all other pages

    page3. Presence = "hidden";

    page4. Presence = "hidden";

    ...

When the form is opened and the criteria of initialization is OK then the user will see all pages (except the hidden Security page). If the criteria fails then all pages are hidden and the visible security page.

    Hope that works,

    Niall

PS I don't think you can delete Master Pages. but you can exclude the layout of the form pages. Having two Master Pages makes it easier; one for the notice and the other for the form itself. You can also set the size of the Security page to be much more small (A5) and a different orientation (landscape).

Another option would be to hide the pages and have an app.alert for the safety message. (although I think that you must always have at least one visible page).

  • Integration of OBIEE and BI Publisher

Hi, have a few issues: the integration of BI Publisher and OBIEE.

First, here's what we are doing. I need to produce a perfect pixel to the PIF ratio, but connected it to OBIEE. Currently, do it this way:

    1. set up a page of dashboard with a prompt that allows users to select the different reporting criteria
    2. run multiple queries that use filters "is invited" to enter the values of the user selected
3 view the BI Publisher report, that was created by using the answers given as source (note: DO NOT ask questions directly to the BI server, simply using the answers result sets)

I have several problems with this:
    1. There are a lot of posts out there that suggests that using answers results sets is much slower for interviewing the BI server
    2. in general, it's a bit "clunky". Having to put up a separate dashboard page, and it is not very "slick."

What I REALLY want to do, is get rid of all answers queries and add more links to navigation within the existing reports of OBIEE answers. In my mind, these links will launch the report editor BI, but also passing parameters (ID, date) to use. The BI Publisher report then directly queries the BI server, instead of having to translate the answers results sets.

If that were possible, we would probably add it in almost all of our requests of existing responses.

I suspect that it would be not only cleaner, but much faster and easier to use. But my question is - is this possible? If so, does anyone know of some references they could point me to find how do?

    Thank you
    Scott

    Scott,

I think your strategy should work. Try this:

    1. on the page dedicated dashboard for the BEEP link, include a command prompt of dashboard with the project. do the guest to define a variable presentation called p_project_id.
    2. If you do not want users to use the guest "display: none" in the CSS section of scorecard properties
3 make sure that your report BEEP has a parameter called p_project_id and use it to filter the data in the query.

When a user clicks on the project on the response, it will be automatically passed to the dashboard page via the standard access features. The guest of the dashboard will fill the same with this value and it will fix the presentation variable in turn. BEEP should automatically match the presentation variable any report parameter BEEP with the same name.

I have not actually tried this, but I think it should work.

    * Update - I just tested and managed to do work without any problem. Let me know if you need additional information.

  • OBIEE - number online

    I have dificulty to find how I can get rid of comma in the command prompt;

Example; I have a customer code (numeric value) which by default only appears with comma in the guest - I have corrected it's responses to the query itself - I'm not sure how or where I can set this format of presentation on the prompt as well - please advise

    Hello

Place this code in your fx prompt...
    Cast (col1 as CHAR)

    And in the same way...
go to your report criteria and click on special filter of this fast condition Filter Options ...
Now click on the option change the formula column , write the same formula here that is cast (col1 as CHAR)

For it to synchronize with the filter column.
But cast to char for column that you are displayed in the criteria columns. do it just for the guest and the filter.

    Hope it solves... !!

  • Is it not logical to have an index on a column of timestamp?

    Hello

We have a table that contains virtually all the changes made by users on the application. As you can imagine, it's one of the greatest paintings in our system.

The table contains columns as create_date, start_date and end_date (when this change begins and when it ends) and so on.

I am responsible for the drafting of a report by cognos and the requirement is that, for a supplied start and date to end, to find all the records in the table where the create_date column is between the parameter start date and end date.

Problem is that the create_date table is not indexed, so literally kill my query and the report is always full time due to a table scan.

This create_date column is a timestamp, and according to my understanding, an index will perform better if the selected column is less distinct values. If I choose this column of an index, then I believe that the index will probably get the same size as the table itself.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The other option, that i've got is to force the user to use another parameter in our page of report parameter - addition - dates. These parameters are not required at the moment. Some of these parameters are indexed columns that will certainly make my faster query.

    Thank you

Yes. If enough selective report criteria, an index on your date / timestamp fields can be very useful. If someone is trying to make every row in the table in a report, table scan will be the most effective way to achieve this, ignoring any index you happen to have.

One suggestion might be to put in place a mechanism limiting so that if a user inadvertently tries to run a query without setting that give them an immediate error rather than let issue them a query which will turns off into the weeds.

    Justin
