Reset password BIOS HP OmniBook 300

Hello!

This is my first post here on the forums of HP and I have a problem. Now, I know there is already a similar topic here somewhere, but I didn't want to resurrect an over 3 years, so I've created a new.

The thing is, a few days ago, I managed to get my hands on a very old laptop HP - OmniBook 300, but the guy who sold it to me "forgot" to tell me that it is password protected. Since it is not able to remember the password, I'm stuck with a work laptop that refuses to boot the operating system (so I think it's a BIOS password in question here).

In any case, I tried everything, including pay 20 dollars for a guy who claims he has a program that can generate a master password for this old OmniBook based on a randomly generated code.

So I did what he said (and what I read in the service manual that I dug up on internet) and on the password entry screen I pressed ALT + SHIFT + F10 and some kind of code appears on the display (in the manual it says this is the encrypted password). I sent this code him and a few hours later he sent me three "master passwords" claiming that at least one should work, depending on the version of the BIOS. Unfortunately, it did not work...

In any case, I was wondering anyone here have an idea how to override the BIOS on OmniBook 300 password? I don't even bother contact HP support since I read in many places that people have tried this, but I got the answer that this laptop is no longer supported because it is too old.

Thank you for your attention and I hope someone can help me.

OK, it's not really a solution to remove a BIOS password, but I managed to start the operating system (Windows 3.1/DOS) through a 'solution '.

The problem I had is that OmniBook was protected with a BIOS and OS (HARD/flash drive disk) password. Someone suggested on the other forum, boot from a disk D, reformatting a HARD drive and reinstall everything from scratch, but it was impossible because of the BIOS (or other) password was in place.

My solution has been to try to reformat the flash card using another device. First of all, I have tried in one of my older laptops with a PCMCIA slot, but Windows XP called for appropriate dirvers. Then, I tried to use my old Pocket/handhelds computers - Jornada 720 oone both 320LX asked pilots. After this failed, I tried something that should have been the obvious choice at the beginning - I plugged 10 MB flash card OmniBook in HP 200 lx (200 LX is an old BACK pocket with PCMCIA Type II slot)... and IT WORKED! I managed to reformat the flash memory card successfully using the commands "format a:" and "fdisk100". I plugged the card towards the OmniBook and the completed system C drive is empty and available to reinstall everything automatically, "get around" the BIOS password. Now everything works as it should and the OmniBook 300 is really a great little machine BACK and now I realize why it was so popular back in one day.

BTW, I recon that this laptop was stolen a long time ago and that he kept changing the owner because we didn't know what to do with computer (HDD, locked, blocked BIOS)... until now. The BIOS password is still there, but this the hell - it works.

    Hello

Anyone know how to reset the BIOS password on a laptop computer without knowing the password?

    Thanks for your time

Remove the RTC battery, main battery and the adapter. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and let the laptop sit for at least 20 minutes before inserting battery RTC back in. Install the main battery and the adapter.

When you initialize it ask for load default BIOS settings, use your arrow keys and enter to do.

The RTC battery is indicated by the red arrow and is behind the memory Bay door.

Here's where I got the picture from.

Remember to reset the time and date, if you do not have this Windows will think that you have a non valid copy.

Next time you start, start to type the f10 key immediately to enter the BIOS to reset the clock and date. You can do it with in Windows, but I think that it is better to do it in the BIOS.

  • How can I reset password BIOS on Satellite Pro M30?

    Hello!

I have a portable Satellite Pro M30 and my son has changed my bios password and now I can't even start it! How can I reset the bios? Where is the bios battery out of MB, then reset as in desktop? Is there a jumper for the deal if all else fails? What should I try?

    Thank you all in advance.

    John.

    Hello John

Remove the CMOS battery didn't help much. If the removal of the BIOS can be so easy, remove the password on the stolen units may be too simple. Please don? t wait that these information will be posted here.

You can contact the after-sales Service of Toshiba partner. They will remove password for you.

    Good luck!

  • Reset password BIOS on Portege M400 - manufacturer of Bios?

I have a Toshiba M400 and I was wondering how do I reset the bios password. I disabled the finger print scanner recently because I decided that I no longer need, but he always asks for a bios password which I forgot. I used just swipe my finger and it let me boot up and all that gravey.

If you guys know how to reset the password. Either physically, or through software, would be great.

Or if you know the guy who is the manufacturer of the bios for the Portege M400 I could probebly give them a call and ask myself.

I could send it, but I want to avoid this and leave as a last resort.

BTW, this laptop was purchased in the United States.

You will not be able to remove the BIOS password yourself if you forgot it.
As far as I know the BIOS that was preinstalled on Portege M400 is... Toshiba ;)

If you need to contact the Toshiba authorized service provider in your country and only these guys are able to remove the BIOS password you forgot.

  • How to remove/reset password BIOS on my Satellite A350D?

    Hi all,

Unfortunately (but "strangely" especially!) my Toshiba Satellite a350d - 20 k PSALME-01D00RIT does not not recognize the BIOS password. It's the same password never. I used it for 9 months each time in order to allow the start of the laptop.

However, it is a couple of days since she decided that now that password is incorrect. After having tried and tried, I finally decided to put the HDD on another computer as external drive in order to continue with my work... but here it is the panic: none of the computers I've tried is actually able to read the data on the disk!

After spending a certain time frozen in panic, I returned to myself and start to ask around to figure out the problem. Someone said that the wrong BIOS password has something to do with the fact that I can not read my disk outside this laptop: you know, it's a kind of average security.

However, the only thing he cares about me is that at the same time, I can't use my laptop and I can't use my data outside of my laptop.

    So, my questions are:
    (1) this model of laptop has this kind of password BIOS-protection also affecting my drive?
    (2) the BIOS password reset will solve the problem?
    (3) how to reset the BIOS password anyway?
    (4) how to recover my data on this hard drive of reading?

    Waiting for any comment.
    Thank you very much!
    Kind regards.

    Hey guys

BIOS password is very important security feature and we can not debate on this subject on a public forum, especially the Forum of Toshiba. Following your logic all stolen but with notebook BIOS password can be unlocked.

  • Reset password Bios EliteBook

Can someone help me in resetting the Bios on my Elitebook 8470P password?

    Product number is B2F97EC #ABA

Operating system is Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

I got the file smc.bin Support HP to reset the password on my Elitebook 8470 P today.

After that, I just copied the file on a bootable USB and booted the laptop by keeping Windows Key + up / arrow dn, then press F10, select reset password.

It worked like a champ, I think your laptop should still be under warranty for this service, also level 1 services will not be much help, you will need to ask the file and request that they raise the service call.

Hope this helps others in the future.

  • Omni 27-1100d: reset password BIOS for Omni 27-1100d

    Hello

I try to use VirtualBox to run Ubuntu 14.04 x 64 but I got this message

"Acceleration hardware VT-x/AMD-V is not available on your system. Your 64-bit host fails to detect a CPU 64 bit and will not be able to start. »

When I try to enter the BIOS Setup, it always ask for password. How do reset you password BIOS for HP Omni 27-1100d?

From what I understand from the internet, I can force the BIOS to reset by altering the checksum or removing the CMOS battery. Is there another way? I want to just erase the BIOS password not the configuration of the BIOS.

    Thank you.

    PS:

    I use HP Omni 27 - 1100d, dual boot Windows 7 (OEM) and Ubuntu x 64 14.04.

You can clear the BIOS password using the procedure described in the motherboard specifications document. There is no need to remove the CMOS battery, that would probably remove the current BIOS settings.

Can anyone help me to reset the bios password or update the bios without entering a password?

    Thank you

    Hello

Unfortunately, business machines such as Probooks or EliteBook have more strict security consumption patterns - they do not produce "stop codes", the password cannot be derived from the serial number and the code is stored in a nonvolatile memory to remove the RTC cell does not reset the password in this case.

If you Contact HP Business support they should be able to file a custom SMC.bin that you can use to reset the password at startup.
