Hyperlink file name restrictions?
I am running on XP Pro RH7. I work with all the files on my C: drive and not on the network.
When I try to create a hyperlink to a file, sometimes, the file is accepted by RH7 and sometimes not. In other words, when I double-click the file I am a link, sometimes the path and name of the file appear in the file field at the top of the window of a hyperlink... and sometimes they are not. It seems to depend on the length of the file name - looks than 9 characters is the max. It also seems to depend on the location of the file - works best when the file is in the same folder as the rest of the project files.
I could not find it in the HR documentation or on the forums. Is there some sort of restriction on the names of files or when the file is stored?
Thank you!

Check if your Internet Explorer or your main browser has all its faults:
Start > default programs > Set Your Default programs > column to the left, click on Internet Explorer or your main browser. He said "this program has all its defaults"?
If not, click on choose by default for this program > check on all the entries in the list > click Save -
Error began yesterday, after I've deleted and reinstalled Adobe Reader software. While at it, I also removed two other programs: browser Opera and PDF fill (a PDF Editor). I tried the system restore of my 8/24 on-demand Restore Point - there is no twice. I moved to my 8/23 restore point, and it failed too.
I discovered what was sick of my machine.Opera, messed with my settings of Internet Explorer when it uninstalled, which apparently affects MS Office settings.
I read that someone had the same problem after you have uninstalled Chrome. Like them, I reset IE as my default browser. now everything works again. So simple, yet so frustrating.Still bothered by the failure of system restore.

Outlook 2007 hyperlinks does not work after Windows 7 Pro upgrade Vista Business
I have just upgaded my laptop Sony Vaio VGN-Z750D of Vista Buiness Wdows 7 Professional. As pa of the upgrade process, I uninstalled Google Chrome as directed by the instructions to upgrade. IE has been and still is my default browser. Immediately after completing the upgrade process to Windows 7, all hyperlinks email from Outlook 2007 stopped working, and I get an error message: "this operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Contact your system administrator. »
I am the administrator. IE is the default browser. I spent the value by default, Safari and back to IE, but no change. I looked at several forums, but none address this issue more specifically to the Windows 7 upgrade.
Please notify. Thank you.
Perfect. Worked immediately. I downloaded the files added to my registry, and the problem was fixed immediately on reboot. Thank you.
