Right click on my mouse button no longer works

My operating system is Windows XP and I have a Dell PC. It seems that the right click stopped working after the latest windows update. Not sure about this, but it did not work and I can not understand how to get the menu to appear on anything (Web page, microsoft office product etc.). I went on the web to try to find a solution and downloaded a solution that doesn't seem to work. Can anyone offer any suggestions? I really need because I have many projects to come and do not have a right-click option is a big hindrance. using the shortcut method does not work for everything.

Hello

1. What is the number of KB updates that are at the origin of the problem?

2 have. what troubleshooting steps you tried to solve the problem?

3. do you have problems with a right-click on applications?

You can attach the mouse on another computer running Windows XP and see if the same problem still occurs.

I suggest that you check the number of KB updates that have been installed recently.

There is no history of update for Windows XP; but you can see what updates you have installed on your computer by clicking on add or remove programs in Control Panel.

To see what updates you have installed on a Windows XP-based computer, you must go through a different process.

(a) go to the start menu in the lower left corner.

(b) choose Control Panel from the menu.

(c) find the icon Add / Remove programs and double click it to open it.

(d) a list of the installed programs. To see Windows updates put a check mark in the Show updatescheck box.

(e) now, you will see also all the updates that are on your computer.

Please provide information on the update installed that could be causing the problem so that we can better help you.

Currently cannot run Flash Player (current) v16.0.0.235. Exactly, I uninstalled and reinstalled several times, all to nothing done. Script errors are no longer constant, in order to be in line continues to be a nightmare. Menus in the program are not normal, just as text lists with no toolbar;  Half of my desktop program icons have the orange planet Firefox, not with the program icon or custom icon which they are responsible; the Start Menu appears now abbreviated, for example, that run the box is suddenly absent (access very important to me).

Incidentally, I also have problems with Firefox and, above all, bookmarks in Gmail. As for the latter, I don't know if this is an integral part of I'm having problems with Windows, or as a result of the fiasco of ShockWave (Flash Player).

Any help would be wonderful! Whether extensive or complex, step by step would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance...

    Hi lady,.

Welcome to the Microsoft Community Forum.

According to the description of problem I can understand that you have difficulties running windows in normal mode, to access the computer in mode normal, you have to enter the mode safe mode with networking, perform the clean boot by msconfig to access normal mode and all your icons on the desktop has a symbol of Firefox instead of having the symbol of the actual program. Don't worry, we'll guide you to get the problem resolved.

This problem occurs mainly because of the malware infection. I suggest you follow the below mentioned methods and check if it solves the problem.

    Method 1

    Malware scanner

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Warning: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Note: After running malware scan I suggest you to restart the computer, and follow method 2.

    Method 2

    Difficulty of file association

A file association associates a file with an application capable of opening that file. More commonly, a file association, is a class of files (usually determined by their file name extension, such as .txt) associated with a corresponding request (for example, a text editor). A file association is a relationship between a file type and application of support. For example, a Word document can be associated with Microsoft Word. After removing some malware tends to corrupt the file, to your computer.

You have a laptop. So try the right button on your touchpad. It work?
If so, the only remaining possibilities are:
    1. bad mouse. Get a new one.
    2. defective UBS port. Plug the mouse into a different port. See if the right click of the mouse works this time.

  • Why file > Send link not working? Even do a right click on my mouse does not work. Is there any solution for this?

Why can I no longer send links to Web sites? By clicking on file > Send link does not work or right clicking on the mouse. Both worked before Firefox 6. I can also send emails to sites that don't specify their address, but to say "send an e-mail, click here. Everything works well in Chrome and Safari, but not in Firefox.

Could you check if your setting for mailto links has been deleted or become associated with an e-mail client that does not exist? Here's how:

    Firefox > Preferences > Applications

In the search box at the top of the list, type or paste mailto and make a pause so that the list is filtered.

If change the dropdown to the right column does not improve things (sometimes go to another provider, which, to return and put back OKing won't work), you may need to reset your application preferences.
